Meanwhile at Gato's mansion Kuri was cherishing the birds flying in the forest. Then Gato arrived. "You haven't cried for months and I'm losing money. But I have someone that will make you cry."
Zabuza and Haku arrived at Kuri's chamber and Haku cut her cheek to make her cry. But as Gato has experienced, it didn't work. Just then the birds Kuri was cherishing earlier passed by, and Zabuza realized her weakness. He grabbed the birds and killed them.. causing Kuri to shed tears and the tears turn to pearls.. a happy Gato awaits.
Zabuza knelt down and looked at Kuri. "You could make this easier on yourself if you just teach yourself how to cry."

Kakashi, Naruto, Sasuke and Reiko started their journey to the forest to save Kuri, led by Kuri.
"I always wanted a sister!" Kuri shouted. "We have to save her from this monster!"
Gato realized someone was invading their territory, so he dispatched one of his men. On their way Naruto and the gang met one of Gato's men.
"I am Hirue!" He said. "You go no further."
Reiko tied up the creature with her orchid vine. Sasuke sliced off the man with his shuriken.
"Kage Bushin Jutsu!" Naruto split into four and they all decked the man, finishing him off.
The gang defeated him and they continued on towards the mansion, ready to face any challenges Gato might send against them.

"I felt the chakra of one of my men disappear," Zabuza said to Gato.
"Just who are these people?!" Gato screeched.
"They are an up and coming group of ninja," Zabuza said. "They are just genin from Konoha. I can face them and end them if necessary."
"Come with me," Gato said, and brought Zabuza to a prison where a giant chimera was held.
"This monster was ruthless and can kill people in seconds," Gato said. "I want you to kill it."
He expected Zabuza to shy away from something so difficult, so he could lower his salary.
"I detest this kind of act," Zabuza said. "I may not seem the type, but I like animals."
It turned out that Zabuza was powerful after all, and he punched a hole right through the monster's body in just one attack thus killing it in a blink of an eye. Gato was surprised and finally gained some confidence. Then he thought of something more interesting - a gambling game.
