A couple more weeks would pass before the physical portion of initiation ended. Harmony's leg had almost completely healed which aided her in winning a few fights which only raised her rank.
A few more initiates that they had started off with were no longer with their initiate class. Two of them had been kicked out of Dauntless and made factionless; they had been caught attacking a Dauntless born who was ranked first of both the transfers and Dauntless born.
The third initiate had taken a jump off the chasm. Roslyn, a candor and distant cousin to Peter would have been cut in just a few days being at the very bottom of the rankings. Roslyn decided that she'd rather be dead then factionless. Harmony didn't really begrudge her for that, everyone knew what happened to those who were factionless.
The next fight was soon called. "Naia versus Harmony."
The two transfers eyed each other. A short, silent coversation passed through them as they locked eyes. With a single nod to each other Harmony and Naia stepped into the ring, settling in their fighting stances.
Seeing that Naia wasn't going to move first, Harmony lunged with a punch to the throat. Naia side stepped and grabbed her wrist. Twisting so that she was close to the former Amity, the former Candor locked Harmony's arm into an arm bar.
Harmony shifted her weight and kicked her friend in the stomach, forcing Naia to let her go. When Naia was winded Harmony kicked the other girls legs out from under her causing Naia to hit her head.
Naia stood back up after an initial period of being stunned and breathless. The former candor didn't waste time with taunts and sent an open palm to Harmony's chest. Harmony fluidly dodged the palm strike and jumped into the air wrapping her legs around Naia's neck.
Pulling with all her weight, Naia and Harmony went down. With a single strike to a pressure point located in the former Candors neck, Harmony knocked her friend out.
Four came into the ring and picked up Naia. With a single nod to Tris he took her to the infirmary while Tris took over and called the next match.
Harmony stood and left the ring. She stood next to Marissa and James and watched the other fights take place.
After a long few hours they were dismissed. Harmony James and Marissa head off to the infirmary.
Naia had regained consciousness but had a concussion. Four was nowhere to be seen but Eric was in the room talking to Marlene.
"So visiting day is tomorrow. Think your families will show up?" Naia asked.
Marissa and James shook there head. "No. Our parents didn't visit our older brothers when they transferred. I don't see why they'd visit us." James answered.
"What about you Harmony?"
"Maybe, I'm not sure. I mean back in Amity, if you paid attention then it would have been obvious that I was going to transfer."
Eric jumped in before anyone could ask Naia if she thought her family was going to visit her. He crossed his arms turning his glacier like gaze to the four initiates. "Just remember faction before blood. You chose this faction, to leave your families. It would be best if you don't seem too attached. People might think you regret your choice."
Harmony spoke up knowing she risked angering the youngest leader of Dauntless. "I don't think any of us here would ever regret our choice."
Eric's eyes narrow. "Be sure that you show loyalty, Amity."
Harmony let out a low growl as he began to leave. "I'm not an Amity anymore. I left that faction for a reason."
"And yet you're not Dauntless either until you pass initiation, initiate. Remember that." Eric replied as he walked out the door.
Harmony groaned when he was out of earshot. "He's infuriating."
"He's a leader. It's his job." Marlene said as she came over. "Alright Naia you can leave for now. Come back if your head gets worse."
Naia nodded; she got up and left the infirmary with her friends. "Let's go get some food."
The rumbling stomachs in response to food meant that there were no objections. They went to the dining hall and sat down, filling up their plates with food. The group was joined by a couple Dauntless born.
"Hey. I'm Adam. This is Daniel."
Adam was a Dauntless born that Harmony recognized from the choosing ceremony and from capture the flag. He had been chosen by Four that night and was the initiate that got Eric's flag. He had pale skin, blonde hair and forest green eyes.
Daniel had dark skin and dark brown eyes. His hair was shoulder length and straight – Harmony couldn't tell if it was naturally like that or not.
"Nice to meet you both. I'm Harmony. This is Naia, Marissa, and James." Harmony introduced herself and her friends.
"So we wanted to extend an invitation to join us in zip lining. We always do it the night of capture the flag but many of us decided we should do it when the first portion of initiation ends." Daniel spoke.
Harmony readily agreed, she had no fear of heights. James also agreed without thinking about it. Naia and Marissa both hated heights but they decided to join their friends and brother in Marissa's case.
After that they dissolved into conversation about Dauntless visiting day and initiation.
Authors Note: So next chapter will have the visiting day. After that will be the zip lining chapter and then it's on to part two of initiation. This authors note however is for me to ask whether or not, you the readers, want some background on Naia and Mara during the visiting day portion.
