Chapter 9: First date
It was finally Friday night, and safe to say Jack was stressing. He had already tried on three different outfits, Flynn approving all of them. Jack finally seemed set as he wore a dress shirt, with a tie and vest, until suddenly he ran back into his room to change. Flynn groaned; this was painful for him. He got that Jack was nervous, but this was borderline torture for him. Jack finally came out of his room, wearing the same white dress shirt untucked with the top button off and a black blazer.
"Is this okay? Too dressy? Not dressy enough?" asked Jack who kept fidgeting with his tie.
Flynn, who was reading a book, closed and stood up saying, "Jackie, Jackie. I love you pal, but I swear, if you change one more time, I'm gonna shoot you."
Jack rolled his eyes and said, "I can't help it man! I'm nervous."
Flynn said, "Buddy, you just need to emanate confidence. Do not be cocky or anything but be cool. Be you Jack."
"He's right Jack. Be the fun loving, cheeky little bugger we all love," said Rapunzel who had just come out of the bathroom from her shower.
Jack took a deep breath and said, "Right…confidence. I got this."
Just then, Elsa and Anna had come in, and Anna said, "My, my, don't you look dashing Mr. Frost."
"Is it too much?" asked Jack.
Elsa laughed and walked up to Jack, inspecting him. She then grabbed his collar and adjusted it for him. She looked up at him and said, "You look great Jack. Formal but not too formal. I'm sure she'll like it too."
"I hope so," said Jack looking back into her eyes.
The two seemed frozen for a second as they kept looking into each other's eyes, until Jack's phone went off and he said, "That's probably her giving me her address."
He walked away from Elsa, who had proceeded to sit down on the couch after Jack walked away. Anna, who saw that whole interaction, looked at her sister with a raised brow. She had been doing that all week. Jack and Elsa of course would always hug and joke around but this was different, and Anna had a feeling why. She still only decided to observe, but the more frequently this was happening, the sooner she was going to bring it up to Elsa.
As Jack figured out where she lived, Rapunzel asked, "How are you going to get her Jack?"
Jack smirked and pulled out a set of car keys, "Courtesy of North himself, ladies and gentlemen I give you the famous Chevy Chevelle. He gave it to me after he decided to move away from the city. Said it was impractical do drive around such a thing where he was going."
Flynn's mouth dropped and said, "Where have you been keeping it this whole time? and why am I only hearing about it now?"
Jack chuckled, "He gave it to me while I was up there. It's been collecting dust in some parking garage, so he said I can use it."
Flynn slowly approached Jack and said, "I got second dibs on being in that car after Tessa."
They laughed at Flynn and kept talking until Jack had to leave.
"Alright guys, I'm off. Wish me luck," said Jack.
"You got this Jack!" yelled Rapunzel as he left.
Flynn grabbed a tissue, rubbed his eye, and said, "They grow up so fast," causing everyone to roll their eyes.
After collecting the car from the parking garage, Jack went to the address Tooth had sent him. He was nervous as he was slowly approaching her building block by block. When he finally parked in front of her building, he texted her. When she came out, Jack's heart raced slightly, "Keep yourself together Frost," said Jack to himself.
When she got in the car, she said, "Wow you sure are punctual."
Jack smiled a bit and said, "Well, that's what they call me, Mr. Punctual."
"Really?" asked Tooth.
Jack shook his head, chuckled lightly, and said, "Bad joke."
Sensing how tense he was, Tooth said, "So where are we headed too?"
Jack perked up a bit and said, "Well I do owe you a drink. I know a bar that isn't too far from here if you're okay with that?"
"Wow a bar? How lush!" said Tooth sarcastically which made Jack tense up a bit.
Recovering, Tooth smiled gently and said, "For sure, let's do it."
Jack turned the car on, and they sped off into the night. When they finally made it to the bar, Tooth was blown away by it. This was not your average saloon. The place did have a bar in the front and places where you could sit and relax, but then in the back was an arcade for adults. It had pool, foosball, ping pong and other classic arcade games.
Noticing her fascination with the place, Jack smiled and said, "A bit more then just a bar huh?"
Tooth, still in amazement, said, "Way cooler than I expected."
When they sat down, and got their drinks, Tooth and Jack found themselves in an awkward silence and they both would steal glances at each other and then proceed to take a sip of their beverage as if nothing happened. Sensing the awkwardness, Jack came up with a simple yet easy way to break the ice.
"Hey, you want to play a game?" he asked.
Tooth looked at him and smiled replying, "Sure."
"Question for question. I'll ask you a one and then you ask me, but if you don't answer, you gotta take a sip of your drink."
"You're on Jackson," said Tooth as she grinned.
Jack smiled and said, "Alright, I'll go first. Why is your nickname Tooth?"
Tooth smiled and said, "Ever since I was a little girl, I always wanted to be a dentist, so my friends called me Tooth."
"So, you're a dentist?"
"Yes, and isn't it my turn?" said Tooth cheekily.
Jack smiled and nodded, and Tooth asked, "What do you do?"
"I own a bookstore called North's Novels. I used to work their part-time as a teenager and the owner North, gave me the place when he decided to retire."
"That is so cool!" said Tooth.
"Alright, my turn…"
"Not so fast Frost," said Tooth.
"You asked me two questions, so I get to ask you two."
Jack smiled and said, "Fair enough, ask away."
"One, what are you doing coming out with me? I don't think your girlfriend would like it if she knew you were out with me."
Jack chuckled nervously and said, "Uh no girlfriend. I do have a roommate though, he's the closest thing I have to one."
Tooth grinned a bit and then replied, "Okay, glossing over that. Secondly, how is a guy like you single?"
Jack shrugged and took a sip of his Gin and Tonic and replied, "Couldn't tell you even if I wanted to. How about you? Why no boyfriend?"
Tooth replied, "Who said I didn't have one?"
Jack's mouth dropped. Noticing his reaction, Tooth said, "I'm kidding. Oh my goodness I'm sorry."
Jack's reaction changed from petrified to relieved.
"That isn't funny! Way to give a guy a heart attack."
Tooth laughed and said, "My mistake. To be honest, being on my feet and on the go all day keeps be busy and by the end of the day I'm pretty tired. Makes me very selective on who I spend my time with."
Jack raised an eyebrow and said, "Why spend it with me?"
Tooth smiled shyly and said, "You…interest me. Plus, you did owe me that drink."
"Touché. Speaking of, can I get you another?"
Tooth looked at him slyly and asked, "Trying to get me drunk?"
Jack smiled and said, "Me? I would never. I'm a gentleman."
As he walked over to the bar, Tooth looked at Jack intensely and said, "Yes you are."
The rest of the night went much smoother for Jack. Tooth even noticed how when relaxed, Jack was incredibly charming and funny to her. The way he could make her laugh, the way he would laugh, and the way his teeth would sparkle when he would smile.
After awhile, their attention went from drink to playing some of the arcade games. Jack planned on taking it easy on Tooth until he realized that she was actually really good at these games. The next few hours were shared with victory, losses, and lots of laughs.
When they left the restaurant and started driving to Tooth's place, Jack asked, "Where'd a dentist learn to play games as well as you?"
Tooth smiled, "My dad used to take me to the arcade after school. Learnt a thing or two back in the day."
"Based off the whooping I just got, I'd say it was more then just a thing or two," said Jack grinning.
The rest of the car ride was spent in a comfortable silence. Almost too quickly they arrived at Tooth's place. After Jack parked, he walked her to the entrance of her building and said, "I had fun tonight."
Tooth smiled back shyly and stared into Jack's eyes. Before Jack could step away, she kissed him. Jack looked back at Tooth, smiled, and asked, "What was that for?"
Tooth grinned mischievously and replied, "To see if I wanted another date."
Jack turned red and said, "And?"
She smiled and said, "I guess I got to make some reservations."
And with that said, she went into her building leaving the white-haired boy grinning stupidly to himself.
The ride home for Jack was all to long as he pranced out of his car, and up the stairs. As he walked into his apartment, he saw Rapunzel, Elsa and Anna were on his couch, Flynn no where in sight.
Slightly confused, Jack asked, "Excuse me ladies but I believe you are in the wrong apartment."
They girls looked at Jack and Anna replied, "Well well, look who's back from his hot date. I'll have you know Jackson that we are in fact in the right apartment."
Jack rolled his eyes and said, "Where's Flynn?" as he put his coat on the coatrack.
Rapunzel responded, "He was feeling tired, so he went to bed, we are just finishing up a movie."
Jack responded and said, "Ah I see."
The girls all looked at Jack as he sat down on his armchair coolly and watched the movie.
"Sooo?" said Elsa.
Jack looked confused as he said, "So what?"
"Your date Jackson! Hello? Work with us!" said Anna.
Jack perked up a bit as he said, "It was so good. She was so cool. I think there may be a second date in the future."
"Was there any sugar for you sweet thang?" asked Rapunzel.
Jack rolled his eyes again, smirked slightly and responded, "A gentlemen never kisses and tell. Now I bid you all a goodnight. Please do lock the door when you leave. You guys have a key for a reason."
With that he went into his room and shut the door. Anna and Rapunzel started to giggle at the little hint Jack had given them, while Elsa felt what was a pang of jealousy. Anna noticed it how Elsa was acting after Jack was talking about her date. Alright, enough is enough, this is happening she thought to herself.
After finishing their movie, the girls parted ways. As Anna and Elsa were preparing for bed, Anna said, "Elsa, can I talk to you about something?"
Elsa yelled from the bathroom, "Yeah I'll be right there."
When Elsa finally emerged from the bathroom, she found Anna standing in their kitchen. "Why don't you take a seat dear sister."
Elsa slightly confused sat down and watched as Anna started to circle her. What the hell is she up to, thought Elsa. Just then Anna stopped circling Elsa and said, "I've noticed a few things been going on with you and I'm only going to ask you this once and you gotta be honest. Am I understood little lady?"
Elsa suddenly felt hot as she said, "Yes."
Anna looked her dead in the eye and said, "What's with you and Jack?"
