Chapter 9 – Kleinhammer

-Before the events in the basement-

Tagor

What lay beyond took him by surprise. He was standing between huge black pillars starring at an enormous city made of black stone. Green light pulsating in almost every wall. The rest of the guard entered too and were as astonished as he was.

Merkur appeared on his side and watched in silence at first, but than spoke in an old voice. "Necrons…, to find these monstrosities tainting the soil of an imperial planet!Tagor, the emperor wanted us to be here, we will rid this planet of their unholy presence."

"Focus on the objective brother." Tagor said calm while turning to him. "For now, we need to eliminate the eldar, so try to avoid contact with the Necrons, we can't fight both sides at the same time."

"Is this really the reason?" Merkur looked Tagor in the eyes.

"Do not let revenge blind you, brother. The eldar here are form a different Craftworld. Do not judge them for the crimes of others."

Tagor kept his gaze on Merkur for some time, before turning back to the city in silence.

Inquisitor Ferdianant

Some moments passed for him to process this new information.

A Necron tomb. A small one, he admitted, but it could endanger the whole planet. He cannot act carelessly. He should avoid awakening the Necrons early, but at the same time, that may be the thing that the eldar are trying to accomplish.

He turned and pointed at a commissar. "Take ten men and relay an order to my second in command. Tell him to that we have discovered at tombworld and the he should immediately inform Inquisitor Alex of it."

"It will be done my lord, may the emperor be with you." The Commissar replied in a deep voice and started to select his men.

The Inquisitor waited for him to finish and then proceeded to continue his chase. He ordered his men to advance. The eldar are only minutes away. He was sure of it.

Guardsmen John

He thought himself lucky when he was left guarding the hive. Now he knows better.

He was standing beyond the illusion and looked at the huge xeno-city in front of him. He could see only outlines and that only because the city was filled with sources of green pulsating light. It felt as if the city itself was breathing. Who would have guessed that there is something this terrifying just beneath them?

He was sure that everyone thought the same, but he had the feeling that they would not turn back. Suddenly the Inquisitor turned and instructed Commissar Zarg, to take ten men and relay a message to the outside. This could be his chance to make it out of here.

John pushed himself through some Guardsmen to get a spot in the front row.

Commisar Zarg, a big and intimidating man with only one arm, started pointing at men he wanted to take with him. His hearth jumped when Zarg pointed at him. He walked forward, but the Commissar gave him a glare that stopped him in his tracks. "Guardsman, I did not point at you, but at the one behind you". He said in a composed tone.

His comrade Lary was behind him, a good fellow with a talent to gamble. Awkwardly John walked back into the ranks of his comrades.

Soon the Commissar and his squad left, disappearing behind the illusion. And with them, his last chance to escape.
