According To Davis

Chapter 9

It's hard when you miss people. But you know if you miss them, that means you're lucky. It means you had someone special in your life, someone worth missing.

"Brooke you are in no condition to get home by yourself. At the risk of you hurting yourself or hurting someone else. Let me help you." Karen insisted.

Brooke turned her head around. Her head ache pounding loudly in her ears as she spoke. "Did you not hear me the first time around! Leave me alone!" She yelled.

Karen sat down beside her. Getting out her cellphone as she dialed the person Brooke needed the most.

The Scott Home

After sending multiple texts and calling his wife. The amount of worry and concern he felt was consuming. The only reason he wasn't searching the streets for his wife. Is simply because their children were home and no one close to them knew about Keith re entering their life yet.

Keeping secrets had become second nature to the couple. They presented to the world.A united front. But the reality wasn't so bright and shiny.

Getting a phone call now from a number he hadn't seen across his phone ID in years made him uneasy but he picked up and put the phone to ear.

As his mother spoke to him.

"Brooke's here. Outside of Tric. She's been drinking. She needs you." Karen stated.

"I'll be right there." Lucas replied.

...

He locked the doors and put on the security system. Then left the home quietly as possible. After driving as fast he could. Lucas parked his car in the street and got out. Rushing over the bench where his wife was.

"Lucas! Take me home please." Brooke pleaded.

Lucas nodded his head and scooped her up off the bench and into the passenger side seat. Once she was settled.

Lucas went back over to where his mother remained standing.

"Is she alright.? I haven't seen her that way in a long time." Karen asked. Her memories of the out of control teenager flashed in her mind.

"She'll be fine. I appreciate you calling me and staying with her." Lucas stated.

Karen sighed deeply. "You're welcome. I saw him at the cafe. A number of days ago. Keith. He has alot of Brooke in him but i saw parts of him in you too." She stated.

Hearing his mother mention his son. Made his stomach flip.

"Don't mention my son! Stay away from me and my family!" Lucas shot back. Turning from Karen as he got back into his car drove home.

Sometime Later

The Scott Home

With Sam and Scarlett fast asleep in their bedrooms. Lucas was able to fully focus in on his wife.

Lucas left pain medication and a glass of water on the end table by the bed. On the other table was a takeout bag containing a burger and fries. She would need it when she woke up. It would aid the hangover.

Brooke soon tossed and turned eventually waking up. Sitting up slowly.

"This isn't the right way to deal with what happened with Keith." Lucas said.

Brooke narrowed her gaze at her husband. Taking the pain medication and drinking a long sip of water.

"Then how should I handle our son hating us.? All the years we spent without him that we can never get back! Excuse me for needing to feel something! For reacting to this hell instead of ignoring and avoiding it like you!" Brooke yelled.

Lucas stared back at her. Getting off the bed.

"I'm going to my home office. Since you're feeling better." Lucas replied.

"Say it Lucas! Whatever you're holding back on right now!" Brooke exclaimed.

He turned and looked back at her. "One of us has to be strong, and stable. You have been falling apart in one way or another for 16 years. It's me that's there with Sam and Scarlett full time when you can't leave work or you can't get out of bed. And can barely function!"

"In case you forgot! I gave him up too! His rejection and distance kills me but i can't express that! Our life centers around the loss you experienced as if you were in it alone!" Lucas yelled.
