So I updated the other story so now it's time to update this one…..
This story is going to be a hostage whump involving Hailey… I'm sorry, SIKE no I'm not
It's been a slow week which is a rarity all on it's own. The team members were all sitting at their respective desks. If you were to look around the room you would see Alvin doing his paperwork and Adam sleeping, with his face held up in his hands. Kevin was texting while Jay and Hailey were having a conversation.
Everyone, except Adam, looked up when they heard wheels scrape against the floor. Voight walked out of his office and looked around the room.
"We have a case by the docks. The suspect might still be there." Voight informed the team. "Also someone wake Ruzek." He said as he walked toward the stairs.
"I've got it," Alvin said as he walked up to him. The team stood up and gathered their things, but kept an eye on Ruzek and Olinsky. Olinsky pulled the chair Adam was sitting on until his arms were no longer on the desk, causing Ruzek's face to slam into the table with a loud thud.
"Ow, did you seriously need to do that?" Ruzek complained as he rubbed his nose. The team looked around smiling at the scene.
At the scene
"Hailey, Jay go check out some of the warehouses" Voight commanded as he got out of his Escalade. Jay and Hailey both nodded and walked off to the nearest warehouse.
"You know you never told me how your date went," Jay said, trying to pick their conversation back up.
"Yeah, well I'll tell you when we aren't looking for a murderer," Hailey replied looking back at Jay, who just shrugged.
Jay was about to round a corner when a pipe was swigging towards his head.
"Jay!" Hailey yelled when she saw Jay hit the floor. She reached for her radio, but all she was able to say was "Sarge! We need back-" before the pipe hit her too.
Back outside with the rest of the team
Antonio was kneeled down by the body talking to Voight who was standing by the victims head.
"It looks like the vic died from an extreme blow to the head. I would say either a pipe or a crowbar." Antonio informed as he stood up.
"Lovely," Voight responded as he turned around and walked up to Olinsky. When Voight walked over Olinsky stopped looking over the edge of the pier to look at his old friend. "Find anything?" Voight asked.
"No, it seems like the killer took the weapon with him."
All of a sudden everyone's radios crackled and what they heard next made them freeze.
"Sarge! We need back-"
Kevin and Adam came running over from where they were questioning witnesses.
"Let's go get them. Everyone comes home tonight," Voight said stoically as ever. Everyone nodded and grabbed their guns from their holsters.
Voight was the first through the door followed by Olinsky, Antonio, Atwater and then finally Ruzek. Voight made a hand gesture to split up so they could cover their bases. Voight, Olinsky and Antonio all went to the left while everyone else went to the right.
Voight stopped abruptly and put his hand up.
"I think we have something," Voight said quietly. Olinsky moved his head around Voight to see what his friend had seen.
"We have a body on the ground," he radioed in.
"We're clear down this hallway, we'll head over to you guys" Ruzek responded back.
"Gnngh"
The figure moved ever so slightly on the ground making everyone tense up.
"Ow, shit" Everyone relaxed again. That was a voice that everyone recognized. Voight was the first one to holster his weapon and get down on the ground by Jay.
"Jay? What happened? Where's Upton?" Voight questioned as he went to help his detective sit up.
Jay just grabbed the side of his head and let Voight move him.
"I uh- I got knocked out with a pipe. I heard Hailey yell and that's all I remember," Jay replied with squinting up at his boss.
"Ruzek, take Halstead outside to the medics."
"Sarge, come on I'm fine. Just give me a little bit."
"That's an order Halstead," Voight said gruffly, not taking no for an answer. Ruzek helped Jay stand and put his arm over his shoulders so Jay wouldn't fall when he walked.
Just as they started to walk away they heard a thud and the remainder of the Intelligence team were on the move once again.
The team rounded the corner, guns held up in front of them, only to find the suspect holding Hailey up in a choke hold.
"Let her go!" Voight ordered.
"What are you going to do? Shoot me?" the suspect sarcastically replied.
"You are going to wish that I would have shot you when I'm done with you."
Unknown to the suspect, he was about to be taken down. Olinsky had seen the man with Hailey and had slowly backed away to get behind the man.
"You might want to let the fine lady go," Olinsky ordered, putting his gun to the back of the man's head.
The man's eyes bulged out of his head when he felt the gun press into the back of his skull. He slowly removed his hands letting Hailey fall to the floor, still unconscious.
"Seriously, what was going through your head threatening cops, who have guns mind you, with a steel pipe?" Atwater questioned and then smirked when he saw Olinsky handcuffed him.
"Hey Kid?" Voight said softly while shaking Hailey's shoulder.
Hailey shot up and winced, grabbing her head before she started looking around.
"Where's Jay? We have to find Jay!" Hailey asked, starting to panic. Voight held on to Hailey and helped her up.
"Hey, he's okay. He's with the paramedics outside-"
"Or at least he should be" Antonio cut in, making everyone smile.
"I do not understand why he hates ambulances and hospitals," Atwater questioned.
"You would hate them too if you knew what the kid went through," Olinsky muttered.
Outside, right when Ruzek and Jay went outside
When Ruzek and Jay got outside, Ruzek practically had to drag Jay to the medics.
"Man, I told you I'm fine, I don't need to get checked out." Jay complained, but sat down on the stretcher.
"If Sarge found out that I didn't make you get checked out he would have my ass" Ruzek said, staring at the paramedics while they checked out his friend.
Jay was just about to say something about how everyone in Intelligence is a mother hen when someone yelled his name out.
"Jay!" he turned so fast that the paramedics had to physically stop him from moving any further so they could finish their job.
"Hailey!" Jay yelled back. Hailey jogged over to Jay and hugged him. "I know that you're strong and all, but shouldn't you be checked out too?"
"I will later, right now I'm fine. That guy must have hit you harder than he did me." Hailey said smiling.
"Not that I want to break up this lovely moment you guys are having, but did someone call Will or Mouse?" Adam asked.
Jay just groaned letting go of Hailey and let the back of his head hit the stretcher.
The team just laughed at his reaction.
"I'm never going to hear the end of this am I?"
So I know that I said I would post this chapter last night but I got halfway through it and I lost all motivation. So I finished it tonight, at least I did it lmao.
Anyway so it wasn't much of a Hailey whump story but she still got hurt. So until next time.
