It's morning in the Air Temple Island and Jotaro and Korra are about to begin their sparring session.
"Ready,Jotaro?"Korra asked.
"Never said I wasn't."Jotaro replied.
Korra charges at Jotaro and starts to deliver swift punches at him but Jotaro blocks them with Star Platinum.She unleashes Firebending at him but Jotaroquickly dodges all of them.Korra tried to deliver a roundhouse kick at Jotaro but Star Platinum catches her leg and throws her in the air and Korra lands roughly in the ground.Korra got up and started to use Waterbending and summons a water whip to tie Jotaro up but Star Platinum allows Jotaro to break free from the whip.Then she uses Earthbending and throws some boulders at him but Star Platinum easily shattered them and Korra was shocked by this.She throws more until something unusual happened.When she throws the rocks at Jotaro en masse ,Jotaro suddenly disappeared.She turned her head left and right to look for him.
"Jotaro!Where are you?"Korra called.
"I'm right here."A voice said and there he was.Korra turns her head and was in complete shock to see Jotaro was already behind her.
"W-what?Jotaro,w-when did you get behind me?"Korra asked frantically.
"I told you.My Stand has powers that no one in this world can possess.Consider this session done.Mako,Bolin and Asami will arrive soon."Jotaro said as he walked off.
Korra turns to him and wondered.*What did Jotaro just do?He was just standing there a while ago and he suddenly came up behind me?Well,Jotaro said that his so called 'Stand' possesses something we don't.Maybe he's right.Whatever power he has,it could be powerful.*
Jotaro was walking.*Good grief.*He thought.*I had to stop time so that I can tell her to never spar with me again.I just hope that Mako and Bolin doesn't spar with me too.Especially,Asami.*
Soon enough,Jotaro,Korra,Jinora, Ikki,and Meelo arrive at the docks and see a boat carrying their friends.The ship pulled alongside and docked quickly.
"You're finally here!"Ikki said."Welcome to Air Temple Island:your new home."
Meelo nodded."Yes.Welcome to my domain."
Bolin smiled at Meelo."Well,aren't you a sweet,little monk child."
Pabu jumps off Bolin's shoulder and goes for Naga.
"What's that fuzzy creature?"Meelo asked,looking at Pabu.
"That is a fire ferret.An arboreal animal common to the bamboo forests of the central Earth Kingdom."Jinora answered.
"He's CUUUUUUUTE!"Ikki squealed as Jinora covers her ears in annoyance.
Pabu hissed and Ikki began chasing him.
"Thanks for sending the Air Acolytes to help us with the move."Mako said.
"Yes,they've been amazing.Such tireless workers."Asami said as they watch the Air Acolytes carrying a pile of bags.
"I thought you were bringing a few things."Korra said.
"Could've been worse."Jotaro said.
"Well,anyway,everyone here wants to make you feel welcome."Korra said.
"This way."Jotaro said as he starts leading the group through the docks.
As they walk Meelo smiles at Asami.
"You're pretty.Can I have some of your hair?"Meelo asked.
Mako smirked."Looks like I have some competition."
When they got into the front courtyard,Ikki jumped in front of them.
"And now for the grand tour.The flying bison sleep in those caves down there.That's the temple Grandpa Aang built.And that's the greenhouse where we grow vegetables that we eat."Ikki said as she shows the directions of every location she said.
"Any questions so far?"Jotaro asked.
Bolin walked up to Ikki.
"I have a couple questions.Is this an all vegetarian island?Is that where you train airbending?Do we have to wear Air Acolyte clothes?Do we get our own flying bison?And final question:how many trees are in this island?"Bolin asked.
"Yes.Yes.No.No.10,552."Ikki answered making everyone sweatdrop.
"So...where are we going to stay?"Mako asked.
"You're a boy.Boys have to stay at the boy's side."Meelo answered.
"I'd be happy to show you to the men's dormitory."Jinora said.
"I'll do it.I live here anyway."Jotaro said.
"I'm a boy."Bolin said.
"Of course you are."Jotaro said.
"Meelo,why don't you go with the boys too?"Korra suggested.
Meelo nodded and saluted at Asami."We shall meet again soon,beautiful woman."
"Looks like you've got yourself an admirer."Jotaro said
Asami chuckled."I guess."
"Ikki and I will take you to your rooms this way."Korra said to Asami.
They entered a house.They were walking down the corridor of the woman side and everything was quiet until...
"Asami,did you know Korra likes Mako?"Ikki asked,making Korra scream mentally while thunder roars and explosions occur behind her.
"Oh,uh...no.I wasn't completely aware of that."Asami replied.
Korra quickly grabbed her arm and led her to her room.She lets Asami enter first,then she shuts the doors before Ikki could enter.
"Hey!"Ikki yelled.
"Run along,Ikki!"Korra yelled,making Ikki growl with indignant complaint at the closed doors.
"So...this is your new room.I know it's a little rustic compared to what you're used to."Korra said.
Asami smilee."I think it's charming.And the best part about it:nothing here reminds me of my father.Thank you for your hospitality."
Then they heard a banging on the door.
"Ikki I swear,if you don't leave us alone,I'm gonna..."Korra stopped as Tenzin opened the doors.
"Uh,Tenzin!Come right in."
"Good day,ladies.Asami,welcome to the Island."Tenzin said.
"Thank you for having me."Asami said as she bows and Tenzin bows back.
Tenzin looked at Korra."Lin's replacement Saikhan is going to be announced as Chief of Police later.I think we should both be there."
Korra nodded."All right.Asami,if you like,Jotaro can show you around the island more.I shouldn't be long."
At the police station,there were a lot of reporters in the area.Saikhan was making his speech.
"It was an honour serving Chief Beifong for so many years and I wish her a speedy recovery.It is with great humility that I take her place as the new Chief of Police.Republic City is facing a threat like none the world has ever seen.But there is 1 man who has been effective against Amon's revolution:Councilman Tarrlok.That is why for all matters regarding the Equalists,I will report directly to him.The police force will lend any and all available resources to the Councilman and his task force until we quell this insurgency."Saikhan said.
"What is that weasel-snake Tarrlok up to now?"Korra asked.
After Saikhan's announcement,the crowd starts to disperse.Tenzin walks toward Tarrlok who is shaking hands with the Fire Nation Councilman.
"Tarrlok,I don't know what you did to Chief Saikhan into your pocket,but I highly doubt it was legal."Tenzin said.
Tarrlok chuckled with amusement."Oh,Tenzin.Always the conspiracy theorist.Did you ever consider that Saikhan simply recognizes my talents and wants what is best for this city?"
Tenzin scoffed.Korra joined them and glares at Tarrlok with hate.Tarrlok smiled in greeting.
"Well,Avatar Korra,long time no see."Tarrlok said."Now that your little pro-bending distractions are over,I look forward to you return to my task force."
Korra scoffed."Ha!Forget it!There's no way I'm your little vanity project,Tarrlok!"
"That is unfortunate to hear.But I'm sure you'll come to your senses,as you have in the past."Tarrlok replied.
"Don't hold your breath,bub.You know,Tenzin's been right about you this whole time.You played me,you played Beifong,and now you're playing the new Chief too.Well I've got news for you.You need me,but I don't need you.I'm the Avatar."Korra said.
Tarrlok smiled slightly."You're not,in fact,the Avatar.You are merely a half-baked Avatar in training.Which reminds me,how is your airbending training?Made any significant progress with that?"
Korra looks down with no answer.
"I...didn't think so."Tarrlok continued."If you will not be part of my task force,then you had best stay out of my way."
Tenzin puts his hand on Korra's shoulder as Korra continues to glare at Tarrlok with anger.
Later on,the 2 of them were riding on Tenzin's Oogie.Korra was sitting with her on her knees.
"I don't understand what's wrong with me.I''ve memorized nearly all the practice forms but I still can't produce a single measly puff of air!I'm a failure."Korra said.
"No you're not,Korra.You just need to work through this airbending block."Tenzin said.
"Amazing advice.I'll get right on that."Korra said sarcastically.
"I wasn't finished yet.You see,Aang not only had his bending teachers,but also his past lives to call upon for guidance.Have you ever made contact with your past lives?"Tenzin asked.
"No!Of course I haven't.Didn't get the memo from the White Lotus?I'm a spiritual failure too."Korra said.
"You may have made a connection without realizing it.Perhaps you mistook it as a dream?"
Korra looked thoughtfully."Maybe.I've had a few weird hallucinations.But I hardly really remember them."
"Did you see any of the previous Avatars in these visions?"Tenzin asked.
Korra nodded."I saw Aang.It seemed like he was in trouble.What do you think it means."
"Hmm.I don't know.But I urge you to meditate on these visions.I believe Aang's spirit must be trying to tell you something."Tenzin said.
Later at night,Korra was sitting alone at the edge of a cliff.She looks at the statue of Aang and begins to cry.
"Korra?You out here?"Mako called.
"That's weird.I've never seen her hide from us like this."Jotaro said.
"KOOORRRAAA!!"Bolin called.
Just then,Pabu comes out of the bushes and climbs on Korra's shoulder and starts to lick her tears away.
Her 4 friends walked out of the bushes and saw her.
"There you are."Bolin said.
"You ok?"Jotaro asked.
"I'm fine."Korra replied.
Mako could tell she wasn't fine."C'mon.What's wrong?You can tell us."
Korra sighed."How am I supposed to save the city when I can't learn airbending?I'm the worst Avatar ever!I just feel...alone."
"No,that's nonsense.You're amazing."Asami said.
"Yeah and remember,Aang hadn't mastered all the elements when he faced the Fire Lord.He was just a little kid."Mako said.
"And he wasn't alone.He had his friends to help him.Look,the arena might be shut down,but we're still a team.The New Team Avatar."
"If you want so save the city,our hearts have to be as 1.We can't go off on our own."Jotaro said.
They put their hands on top of each other's in air.Korra smiled and rose to her feet.
"Yeah!Let's do it!"Korra said.
Suddenly,out of nowhere,Meelo landed and farted on their combined hands.
"Yeah,let's do it!What are we doing?"Meelo asked.
Everyone laughed except for Jotaro,who covered his nose after Meelo farted.
"Good grief."Jotaro muttered.
Later on,Team Avatar gathers,looking at the city.
"Get ready,Republic City.You are about to be patrolled by Team Avatar."Bolin said.
Just then,Asami comes in wearing her driving outfit and wearing an Equalist glove.
Mako smiled at her."Asami,you always know how to accessorize your outfits."
"I figured 1 way to fight the Equalists is to use an Equalist weapon."Asami said as she made electricity from the glove.
Korra grinned at her friends."All right let's do this!"
"Naga, away!"Bolin yelled.
All 5 of them jumped on Naga but she shuddered and caves in and they all fell on top of one another.
"Okay,scratch that.Any other ideas?"Korra asked as she scratched her head.
Asami smiled."Hmm.I think I have the answer."
Asami later brings out a Satomobile and drives it.
"Think this'll do."Asami said.
"It's alright.As long as we fit in this car."Jotaro said.
Mako sat beside Asami in the front while Korra,Jotaro,and Bolin sit in the back.
"I like the new Team Avatar style."Mako said.
Asami revved the engine and Team Avatar began to patrol.Jotaro was squished between Bolin and Korra.Bolin kept squirming so that he could get a more comfortable position.
"Jotaro,you're big."Bolin said.
"Bolin,you're fat."Jotaro replied.
Mako laughed and looked back at them."That's what I always say."
Bolin crossed his arms."Hmph."
Just then,the police dispatch scanner in the car hissed and they listened to it.
"Unit 216,cancel that 10-58 at Harmony e back at the station,over."The scanner said.
"My dad has police scanners installed in all of his cars.I guess now I know why."Asami said.
The scanner hissed again."Calling all units,level 4 alert.Jailbreak at Headquarters.Officers down,electrocuted.Chi-blockers and Equalists convicts are still at large,armed and dangerous.Last seen,heading east."
Asami quickly turned a corner.Ahead of them,they could see the Equalists.
"That's them!"Jotaro cried.
There were several chi-blockers on motorcycles,surrounding a van full of escaped prisoners.Asami floored the gas and the hot rod raced after them.The van cut through through several oncoming cars and Asami dodged them all until a huge truck appeared and it blocked their way.
"Korra!Bolin!Give a ramp!Now!"
Korra and Bolin Earthbent a ramp that sends the car flying into the air and then lands on Asami hits the gas pedal to make the car go faster.
They were now close to the van.Jotaro stands from his seat and activated Star Platinum.Star Platinum's finger extended into a makeshift spear.
"STAR FINGER!"
Star Platinum's stretched out fingers destroyed the nearest motorcycle and the biker was sent sprawling into the ground.
Bolin stands from his seat too and sent discs of earth to another biker.Then,2 other bikers released smoke from the back from their exhausts.It obscured Team Avatar's vision and caused them to cough.Asami pulled on goggles and saw the Equalists turn a sharp corner.
"Help me out!We have to make this turn."Asami said.
Korra made the ground sort of curl up on the far corner and Asami pulled into it.Asami came up close behind the Equalists.
"They don't know we made a turn.Okay,get ready..."
Asami charged forward and knocked into the 2 bikes in front of them.The chi-blockers flipped in the air and landed on the car.Jotaro activates Star Platinum instantly and begins to punch the 2 chi-blockers.
ORA!ORA!
Each punch sent the 2 chi-blockers flying into the air and crash into a nearby house.
Asami drives her car closer to the van and Mako fired lightning into the engines.The van shook and crashed into its side.
Later,photographers begins taking pictures of Team Avatar and the captured Equalists and convicts.They heard police sirens and 2 police vans pulled up behind them.Tarrlok stepped out of one and stalked over them.
"Avatar Korra,what do you think you're doing?"Tarrlok asked in an angry tone.
"Oh,hey Tarrlok.Nice of you to show up finally.Here,we captured the escaped convicts for you."Korra said.
Tarrlok scowled."What you did was tear up the city and impede the real authorities in their pursuit of these criminals."
"Really?I didn't see your task force or the cops anywhere."Jotaro said.
"If it wasn't for Team Avatar,they would've gotten away."Korra said.
"This is your last warning!Stay out of my way!"Tarrlok said as he stormed off.
Korra grinned and Jotaro approached her.
"Screw him.He doesn't know that we're doing the right thing."Jotaro said.
"I couldn't agree more."Korra said.
The next day at city hall,all the Councils are having a meeting.
"Republic City stands as a beacon of freedom. But the Equalists are using that freedom to tear it down. The law I have proposed would make it illegal for anyone to be a member of the Equalists, or to even be associated with them. It also puts into effect a curfew, ensuring all non-benders are in their homes by nightfall."Tarrlok said.
"This is going too far,Tarrlok!You can't punish all non-benders for the actions of a few!"Tenzin protested.
"That kind of cowardice will cause our city to fall into Amon's hands.We must pass this law.All in favor?"
As usual,everyone except for Tenzin raised their hands and Tarrlok smirked and slams his gavel.
Later at that night Team Avatar continued their patrol around Republic City.They were eating dumplings until they heard the sound of the police scanner.
"All available units, please respond to the 56th block of Dragon Flats Borough. Equalists have taken to the streets. Consider them armed and dangerous. Proceed with caution."The scanner said.
After hearing this,Team Avatar quickly jumped in the car.
"I call front!"Bolin said.
"Great.I get to sit in the middle again."Jotaro said sarcastically.
Mako smiled and gestured to Korra."After you."He helped her into the car.
"What a gentleman.Thanks."Korra said as she sat in the back and Mako sits with her.Asami looked at them through her rearview mirror and a hint of jealousy came up her face.
They arrive at the neighborhood that's cut off from electricity and all houses are dark and nobody's home.
"Why is the power out?"Korra asked.
"Maybe they forgot to pay their electric bills?"Bolin asked.
"No,something's not right."Jotaro said.
Then,they saw a large crowd of people who are non-benders and are protesting at Metalbending cops who are holding them back behind at the blockade.
"Wait a second,these people aren't armed or dangerous."Asami said.
"Sure doesn't look that way."Korra agreed.
"Then what's going on?"Jotaro asked.
"All non-benders,return to your homes immediately."An officer said.
"Yeah,as soon as you turn our power back on!"Someone in the crowd yelled.The rest of the crowd all yelled.
"Disperse or you will be arrested."The officer said.
A woman with a child yelled back at him."You benders can't treat us this way."
"Mommy,look!It's the Avatar!"The little girl said and the non-benders look at Team Avatar.
"Please,help us.You're our Avatar too."The woman said.
"Everyone please stay calm.I'm gonna put a stop to this."Korra said.
Korra looked around and saw Tarrlok talking to Saikhan a few meters away from them.Korra stormed over to him.
"Tarrlok,you need to turn the power back on and leave these people alone."Korra said.
"Avatar Korra,you and your playmates have no business here."Tarrlok said.
"We're not going anywhere.You don't have the right to treat these innocent people like criminals."Korra said.
"This is an Equalist rally!There's nothing innocent about it!"
"They're not Equalists.They're just normal people who want their rights back."Asami said.
"They are the enemy!Round up all these Equalists!"Tarrlok shouted.
The officers moved forward and bended the metal bars to push the people into tight groups.Then they bent the earth underneath their feet and lifted the groups in the air.Then they opened the doors to their trucks and started loading people inside.
"Stop!"Korra shouted as she earthbends the groups down back to the ground and allowed them to escape.Jotaro ripped the bars using Star Platinum so that people won't have to climb over them.
Tarrlok growled and looked around.Then he saw Asami.He smiled and used waterbending to grab her arm.
"Hey!Let me go!"Asami yelled.
"Asami!"Jotaro cried.
"What?You can't do that!"Mako said.
"Actually,I can.She's a non-bender out past curfew and her father is a known Equalist conspirator."Tarrlok said.
"Let her go!"Mako growled.
Tarrlok smiled."Arrest him and his brother!"
The officers shot cables that wrapped around Mako and Bolin.
"Arrest him too."Tarrlok said as he pointed at Jotaro.
The officers nodded but before they could arrest Jotaro,Star Platinum appeared and punched all of them as quickly as possible.
ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!
All the officers were down,and Tarrlok was shocked.
"W-what?"Tarrlok said as he uses waterbending against Jotaro but Star Platinum managed to punch Tarrlok in the face.
ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!ORA!
Tarrlok was pummeled to the ground and he barely stood up.
"W-what power is this?What are you?"Tarrlok said as he crawled away in fear.
Jotaro stepped towards Tarrlok,but one of the task force members smashed a rock onto the back of his head,knocking him out in an instant.Soon,the task force members got a hold of him.Tarrlok stood up and wiped the blood off his mouth.
"Tarrlok!"Korra roared as she levitated 2 rocks in the air.
"Unless you want to join your friends in prison.I suggest you put those down and go back to the Air Temple."Tarrlok said.
"Korra,listen to him!It's not worth it."Mako said and Korra reluctantly drops the 2 rocks.
The officers piled Bolin and Mako into the truck.They forced Asami into it too.Then the others dragged Jotaro's limp body and threw him into the truck.
Mako manged to catch him before he could hit his head on the floor.
"We'll be alright!"Bolin said.
"Don't worry,I'll get Tenzin.He can get you out."Korra said.
The doors on the trucks closed.Tarrlok crossed his arms in triumph.
"So sad to see your little'Team Avatar' broken up.You had a good run."Tarrlok said.
"This isn't over,Tarrlok."Korra snarled.
"Oh,I believe it is.Take them away."Tarrlok said and the trucks drove off.
Later,at police headquarters,Tenzin finds Korra struggling to get an officer to talk to her.
"I came as fast I could.Are Jotaro and your friends all right?"Tenzin asked.
"I don't know.These knuckleheads won't tell me anything."Korra said.
"I'll take care of this."Tenzin said and he finds Saikhan by the counter.
"Saikhan,a word please."
"Councilman Tenzin.I'm pretty swamped at the moment.Can this wait?"Saikhan asked.
"No it cannot.4 of the Avatar's friends were wrongly arrested tonight.I'd like you to release them immediately."Tenzin said.
"They're not going anywhere.They were interfering with police business."Saikhan said.
"Your so-called police business was rounding up innocent people and claiming they were Equalists. They should be released too!" Korra said.
"All Equalist suspects are being detained indefinitely. They'll be free if and when the task force deems they are no longer a threat." Saikhan said.
"Those people are entitled to due process under the law." Tenzin said.
"You'll have to take it up with Councilman Tarrlok." Saikhan said.
"Oh I plan too...at the council meeting 1st thing in the morning."Tenzin said.
Korra leaned forward and pointed at Saikhan's face.
"You're officially the worst Chief of Police ever!"Korra said.
"Calm down, Korra. I'll get this sorted out. We just need to be patient."Tenzin said as he pulls Korra back.
They began to walk away until Tenzin turned to Saikahn."But you really are the worst!EVER!"
Later at the Air Temple Island,Korra was laying on her bed,still awake.She was worried about her friends.Mako.Bolin.Asami.Jotaro.
Korra hit her fist against her bed and got to her feet.She opened her window and looked at Republic City.Then she went to Naga.
"Wake up,Naga.Let's go."Korra said.
Korra rode quickly to City Hall.
"Wait for me here,girl."Korra said as she dismounted Naga and Naga hugs her sadly.
"Don't worry.I'll be okay."Korra reassured her.
In Tarrlok's office,Tarrlok is filling out some forms.Korra threw open a window allowing the cold air and snow to enter the office,blowing papers everywhere.
"You and I need to talk."Korra said.
"Are any of the other Council members here?"Tarrlok asked his assistant.
"I believe they've all gone home for the night."His assistant answered.
"Then you should do the same."Tarrlok said.
"Are you sure,sir?"His assistant asked.
"Leave us."Tarrlok said in a stern voice making his assistant do what he says.
"You obviously have something on your mind.Spit it out."Tarrlok said.
"Don't you see? You're doing exactly what Amon says is wrong with benders. You're using your power to oppress and intimidate people."Korra said.
"And you don't?"Tarrlok asked.
"Of course not!"Korra said.
"Isn't that what you came here to do? Intimidate me into releasing your friends? See, that's what I admire about you, Korra. Your willingness to go to extremes in order to get what you want. It is a quality we both share." Tarrlok said.
"You and I are nothing alike!"Korra yelled.
"Look, I'll make you a deal. You fall in line and do what I say and I'll release your friends."
"Is that why you arrested them?To get to me?"Korra asked.
"I need your answer."Tarrlok said.
"No. You might be able to manipulate Chief Saikhan into following you, but it won't work on me."Korra said.
"You will regret that decision."Tarrlok said as he stood up and looked at his waterfall.
"You need to be stopped!You're just as bad as Amon!"Korra said making Tarrlok widen his eyes with anger.
"I have tried to work with you,Korra,but you made it impossible."Tarrlok said as he took water from his waterfall and lashed out at Korra.
Korra dodges it and earthbent the ground,knocking Tarrlok off his feet.She fires a fire blast from her fists at Tarrlok but he protects himself with a shield of water before the fire could reach him and he outlasted the fire.
Tarrlok started to send bullets of ice at Korra.She handsprings back and flipped in the air,doing her best to dodge all of the ice bullets.She hits a wall and started to punch the ice bullets in the air,but the bullets hit her leg,arms,and the side of her chest.Korra raised a wall of earth to protect herself.
She earthbent the wall behind Tarrlok and it knocked him through another wall and out of his office.
Tarrlok lands on the ground but he trips over the railing and caught himslef just in time.
"Still think I'm a half-baked Avatar?"Korra asked as she earthbends the railing,making Tarrlok fall to the ground.Korra jumps down and punches the ground,generating a shock wave and creating a small crater.
"What are you gonna do now?You're all out of water,pal."Korra said.
Tarrlok crawled from her in fear just like he did when Jotaro defeated him.Korra ignited flames on her hands and charged towards Tarrlok.
Then she stopped mid-strike.The flames were extinguished.Tarrlok raises his hands up and Korra's arms to move under his control.Soon,Korra was forced to her knees by Tarrlok's movements.
"You're in my way, Avatar and you need to be removed."Tarrlok scowled.
"You're-you're a bloodbender?"Korra asked.
"Very observant."
"But it's not a full moon.How-how are you doing this?"
"There are a lot of things you don't know about me."Tarrlok replied.
Then he bloodbends to lift the Avatar in the air and throws her against a pillar,knocking her out.
In her unconcious state,Korra saw the same visions again.She saw the strange man again but this time he is seen controlling everyone around him.Korra saw Sokka immobilized,Toph struggling,and Aang reaching out in vain.Then,the vision faded.
Korra's eyes opened and she looked around.Ropes bound her and she was inside a car.
"Where are you taking me?"Korra asked.
