The last chapter was so much fun to write. I'm still grinning about it.
The encounter between Uma, Hook and I was nothing compared to the absolute hilarity of the repercussions of that meeting.
Apparently, Uma had given Hook a loud telling-off when they had arrived back on the ship. And by loud I mean REALLY loud. So loud, that all the pirates in their crew had apparently heard.
A word of warning, pirates are the most extreme form of gossipers you will ever have the fortune of meeting. This, along with Gil's naive honesty meant that essentially the whole isle knew about Hook and I's... "meeting".
At first, I'll be honest, I was a bit embarrassed by the double-meaning coated words and childish teasing that the villain's descendants had decided to bestow upon me. But I soon came to accept it and its hilarity when it became clear that no one really meant any harm by it (except for a few jerks, but that was expected). Serious relationships on the isle may not be a big trend but in no way was the isle completely prudish. After all, at the end of the day hormones were hormones.
What really was the cherry on top about the whole situation for me though was the absolute mortification that Harry Hook seemed to be going through.
Unlike me, Hook still hadn't gotten used to the teasing and would alternate between snapping at anyone who dared to joke about it and turning bright red like a tomato.
Honestly, with such brilliant reactions like this how is he expecting the whole situation to die down?
I've seen even Uma's lips twitch in amusement at one of Hook's many temper tantrums despite how annoyed she had been with this whole situation at the beginning.
There was only one other person who was matching Hook's ire about this whole situation but his tantrums didn't bring me any amusement.
"Sisha, my love!" Gideon exclaimed despairingly, "Why would betray me like that?"
Effie was looking at the both of us with a firm glare from the counter while I continued wiping a recently abandoned table. Gideon was, as usual, being a pain.
"Why would you go off with that- with th- that MARAUDER when you could have me," he continued on ranting, the 'me' at the end coming out as a pitiful whine.
I finally looked up at him, cocking my head to one side with an innocently confused expression.
"What do you mean?" I said, blinking too much as I spoke.
"What do you mean what do I mean?" Gideon continued on in his word vomit, "We were meant to be together! Like soulmates. I told you all my plans as well! Come on. There's still time, think about it. You and I! We don't have to be like them!" He gestured roughly towards the rest of the tavern and I saw Effie's glare harden until there seemed to be steam blowing out of her ears.
I giggled again at his words as a form of acknowledgement but didn't bother responding.
Not that he needed it. The guy was so self-absorbed he could have a whole cabinet debate just by himself.
"I don't even know what you see in him," he continued, "Have you seen his hair? And the amount of eyeliner! Would give Hela a run for her money. Now on the other hand look at me. I'm beautiful enough to be a muse! Put that painting of Monica Leisa- um, Mona Lyra, Meena Lupa-"
"Mona Lisa?"
"Ah- beauty AND brains!"
Essie huffed. Gideon was about to go rambling off again when suddenly my mom approached us with a tray full of Bloody Mary in her hand (no, literally- bloody mary. It's a special drink prepared for the vampires).
"Sisha, darling," her mother said sweetly, "could I have a word with you?"
Too sweetly.
Before I could answer mom had already grabbed my arm and pushed me into the alcove near the stairs that lead upstairs towards our flat.
"Why didn't you tell me?" mom immediately dropped her sweet act, looking at me like a petulant child as she hit my hand.
"Ow," I said, rubbing my arm. It didn't actually hurt that much but the sentiment did, "What are you going on about?"
"Your suitors!"
I froze. Eyes-widening.
"My what?!"
"Suitors!" mom exclaimed again, doing an excited little jig as she said the word, "Gideon AND Harry! Oooh, I knew MY daughter was hidden in there somewhere!'
I continued gaping at her like a fish for a few seconds but my mother ignoring me as she mumbled plans to herself excitedly under her breath. After what felt like an hour (but was in fact a few minutes only) I snapped out of my reverie.
"Mom," I snapped, bringing her back onto earth from the clouds, "I DO NOT have any suitors."
"Of course, you do," mom brushed off her words like Aunt Mary was brushing the floor, "Gideon has never been silent about his fondness and I've been hearing the rumours about you and Harry for weeks," mom hit me on the other hand then and pouted again, "Why didn't you tell me?"
I rolled my eyes. "Cause there's nothing to tell. Hook and my relation is just that- a rumour. And Gideon is ridiculous but he's not into me," I lied. It must have shown cause mom gave me a disbelieving look as her eyes flitted between me and Gideon.
She then smiled at me before moving forward to pat my cheeks patronisingly. "Sure, sure," she said with absolutely no conviction, "You don't have to lie to me. It's great to see you turning into me." And with a cheeky grin, she left me gaping at her back in horror.
It's great to see you turning into me...
I didn't even bother suppressing the shudder than ran through me at the sound of those words that any other kid on the isle would've been preening after hearing.
I needed to do something about this.
