I woke up to find myself staring at the black furs of Orinthia, who was still sound asleep. My mind took a few moments to make sense of things and I remembered everything. I was in my house, sleeping on my own bed with Orinthia. Judging from the way she was sleeping next to me, it was obvious that she had taken a special liking to either my bed or the act of cuddling with me. I think we cuddled ourselves to sleep last night, but my memories were hazy. I was still tired. I looked at the large clock on the wall. Sure enough, it was only six in the morning. I woke up a lot earlier today. For a moment I contemplated going back to sleep, but decided against it. Her warmth was far too comfortable. If I go back to sleep again, we might end up the entire day on our bed doing nothing. While that didn't sound bad, I would end up feeling guilty later. Stifling my yawn with my hand, I slowly got up from the bed and headed for the washroom.
The morning in the house was peaceful and it felt odd, very odd. Usually in my house it was my parents yelling at this hour, either for me to get up or among themselves about something I didn't care to know about. I breathed in the morning air and enjoyed the first glimpse of sunlight slowly illuminating everything. I didn't bother to pull the curtains last night and this was the reward. A beautiful reward. Not as beautiful as Orinthia, but beautiful still. I glanced at her once again before fixing myself some coffee and getting on the computer. I didn't get to check everything last night. I decided to securely erase everything before I leaving. That would be suspicious to the law enforcement if they got involved at some point, but as far as I knew my parents, they wouldn't contact them. Family honor was far more important to them.
I adjusted the webcam and decided to call a childhood friend of mine, Gloria. She was usually on the computer at this hour too, thanks to her job as an assistant researcher.
"Felix! Is that you? We all thought you were gone forever! Are the rumors true?" Those were her first words after seeing me on the feed. I sighed. Just how fast do rumors travel?
"They might be true, depending on what you're talking about, Gloria." I calmly replied.
"They said you were kidnapped and then rescued by Reshiram, who told you the ultimate truth about everything. Just what is the ultimate truth, Felix? Tell me! I need to learn more as a researcher!" I couldn't believe her. I sighed again.
"What's wrong, Felix? Aren't you going to tell me?" She missed the point of my expression.
"There are no ultimate truths, Gloria, just small ones. The truth is that I got kicked out of the house like a low-life and started living with a friend. End of story."
"Huh? Then where are you calling me from? It looks like your room. Is that not your room?"
"It is. I came back, so no need to worry about me, okay? Focus on your work." I tried to bring the conversation to an end and hoped that this information would also spread like the rumor about me being rescued by Reshiram.
"Oh, okay then! Glad to know things are better now, Felix! Be careful to not get kicked out again, okay?" She looked relieved.
"Okay, Gloria. Felix out."
With that, I ended the call. I turned around, only to be met with Orinthia sitting on the bed and staring at me. Thankfully, the camera wasn't aligned with the bed, or I would have to explain a lot more to Gloria.
"Hey, Felix." She sounded cold.
"Good morning, did you sleep well?" I asked her. I thought I woke her up with my loud voice during the call. I was feeling guilty.
"Who was that woman, Felix?" She got straight to the point, staring at me with her piercing gaze. She must've watched the entire video call.
"Oh, that's Gloria, a childhood friend." I smiled and replied before adding, "You can talk to her if you want to."
"No, I won't, Felix." She said and went silent. I got up from the chair and sat down next to her, trying to comfort her. Did she think that I liked Gloria the same way I liked her? I did not, but before I could say anything, she grabbed my shoulders and brought her face close to mine, her breath hitting my face.
"You're mine, Felix. I'm not losing you like I lost everyone else." She whimpered before resting her head on my chest. I pulled her into a hug, running my fingers through her mane. It seemed to have calmed her down.
"Don't worry, Orinthia. I don't need anyone other than you." I assured her. She softly growled.
"Let's properly start the day, shall we? How about I cook you breakfast?" I offered.
"Okay, Felix!" She lifted her head up, looking happy.
I gave her a peck on the cheek before getting up. Time to cook breakfast.
