Penny and Harry had walked through the halls under the Invisibility Cloak. Tonight was the night that Penny would need to give Draco her answer. Was she willing to become a Death Eater for Harry?
Penny threw the Cloak off herself when they made it to the Room of Requirement. Harry, however, kept it on so that he could listen without being seen. It was now midnight, which is when Penny agreed to meet Draco. She entered the room, Harry trailing not far behind. It looked vastly different from their last encounter. Instead of two couches beside a fire, the room had transformed to a dark, candle-lit room. In the center was an ominous oblong table. Draco sat at the far end, about ten feet away.
"You came," Draco sounded a bit surprised. Did he think she wouldn't come? "Please, have a seat," he gestured to the chair closest to her, on the opposite end of the table from him. She sat. He looked nervous.
"So you've made your decision?" He asked. Penny fixed her posture and narrowed her gaze.
"I don't know, I am still making it," she was trembling so she put her hands on her knees to steady herself. "I want to know what's in it for me."
"For you? I won't kill you, that's what's in it for you," he laughed.
"Yes, but I know you won't kill me so…what do I get out of this?" Penny said. "Aside from revenge of course," she added.
"What are you on about? I could kill you right now if I wanted to."
"Precisely. You don't want to, because if you kill me you'll never get Harry. You need me to lure him to you. You know he won't go anywhere you tell him to. So you need me. I'll ask again…what is in it for me?"
Draco looked dumb-struck. She knew she had hit the nail on the head. Penny stood up and began to walk around the table toward him.
"How about I tell you what's in it for me." She advanced. "If I am going to be in this, I am going to be in this. Okay? I want in! I want to be a Death Eater! I want a seat right next to Lord Voldemort and I want to be the one to kill EVERY LAST FUCKING MUDBLOOD AND MUGGLE ON THIS PLANET!" She slammed a fist on the table and made Draco jump. Now he was the one trembling. Penny knew she had gone too far. She shouldn't have said those words, even if no one would hear it but Draco and Harry. But, she couldn't show that. She had to keep feigning this heart-less persona she already hated. This is what had to be done.
Draco looked positively terrified but he quickly collected himself and stood up too. He was much taller than her.
"Very well. I'll see what I can do. But, you're in?" He asked.
"Am I in?" Penny scoffed. "Did you not hear a word I just said? Yeah I'm in. When do you want him by?" She retorted, crossing her arms.
"Well if you are in, we need to make an Unbreakable Vow."
Penny's stomach dropped. How would she get out of this if she was bound by an Unbreakable Vow? She looked at a spot of air where she assumed Harry might have been and her heart sank. But, she had to keep up with her façade.
"Of course, but we'll need a third party to cast it," Penny told him.
Suddenly, a tall man, resembling Draco but older and with much longer hair, walked out of a wardrobe that, once again, Penny didn't notice when she first came in.
"This is my father, Lucius Malfoy, he will perform the spell," Draco said.
Lucius just sneered at her. Draco grabbed Penny's forearm and held it up at chest level. Then, he stared into her soul.
"Let's get this over with Draco," Lucius sighed.
"Yes Father."
"Draco, do you vow to follow through to Penny's wishes?"
"I do."
"Penny, do you vow to bring Harry Potter to Voldemort at the agreed upon time?"
Penny looked back at the air in which Harry could have been standing. How far was she willing to go? If she broke the Vow, she would die! She would be bound to the Death Eaters and to Draco. She could hear Harry breathing and hoped she was the only one did. She drew in a slow deep breath, preparing to seal her fate. Then, with every inch of regret, she said: "I do."
A thin strand of golden magic twirled and twisted around their forearms before locking in place and disappearing entirely. Draco let go of her arm. It dropped to her side, feeling so heavy.
"Pleasure to be working with you Montgomery. How long will you need to get Potter?"
"Oh, probably about a month…or two. Let's say two month's time. Meet back here?" She asked, hating to seal Harry's fate so quickly. Draco looked to his father who didn't look happy, though he never really did, and he nodded.
"Excellent!" Then Draco smiled a nasty smile. An evil smile. Certainly not one that looked happy or joyful, but instead one that looked sad and broken.
When Penny left the Room of Requirement she noticed a picture on her left arm...a skull with a snake coming out of its mouth. It burned and she screamed in agony.
