"Huh, who said tha-"
Before I was able to finish the Sunflowmon burst into a flash of light. In it's place was a small treasure chest. Behind the chest I saw a what appeared to be... a potato? No wait it was too shiny, but the shape was there. It looked like a small gold plated potato, with a knife coming out of its head.
"Thank you for saving me! I fell in here and tried to get out. Then that meanie Sunflowmon came in and I was so scared I hid in the trees. If you hadn't defeated it I don't know what would have happened to me."
Armadillomon walked over. "It's ok, you're fine now. We're Rescuers! We're here to save you!"
"Whoa really, like actual Rescuers!"
"Yeah, at least I am!" Armadillomon said, flashing his badge with a large grin.
"Cool..."
"Anyways lets get you out of here." The badge started to glow, then a ray of yellow light descended on the potato thing and it disappeared from view.
Reality seemed to catch up to me in that moment, as I pondered what I just saw.
Wait where did they all disappear too?
Where did that tresure chest come from?
Where was that Digimon hiding, There are no trees around here, just dugneon walls?"
"Well it looks like we're done here, let's see what this treasure is and go home." Armadillomon said, distracting my thoughts.
"yeah alright."
I guess I could ask later after he-
A chilling thought entered my brain.
go home? Where even is my home?
I felt panic rise within me, a million thoughts bounced around in my head. Where was I? Forget my new body, where was my home? Where was my family? Did anyone even miss me?
What if I'm stuck here.
That thought brought me to a standstill. The more I thought about it the more it made sense. I had no idea how I got here. Armadillomon had no idea what a human even was, who was to say the guild would be any better? Even if they did, would they know how to send me back? I felt the panic and the stress this line of thought was causing to rise. My stomach started to hurt, I wanted to vomit, or lay down and cry.
No! Gotta stay positive. It's too early. Just because Armadillomon can't help doesn't mean others can't.
Looking more for a source of hope than an actual answer I turned to Armadillomon.
"Armadillomon?"
"Yeah?"
"Your guild master. They're smart right?"
"Oh yeah! Really smart! They know everything! They'll definitely be able to help you out."
That made me feel a little better. Deciding that the best thing for me to do was to distract myself from my predicament, I focused in on what happened.
"So... what just happened. Sunflowmon just dissapeared, and so did... that other thing?"
"Oh yeah, that was Sakumon! Sakuttomon is going to be so happy to see them again!"
Armadillomon stopped, apparently noticing my confused face.
"Oh yeah, I forgot, you know nothing about this world. Alright. Let me give you the run down. After you defeated Sunflowmon-"
I still don't know why they keep saying that. I'd need to ask later.
"Sakumon came out of wherever they were hiding. I used my badge to save them. The badge has some special coding that it allows it to transport any Digimon out of a Mystery Dungeon, that's the main way we save Digimon! As for Sunflowmon, like any feral, they dissapear when they're defeated. We don't know where they go. Or even where they come from, so don't ask. Sometimes really powerful ferals leave behind treasure, like Sunflowmon did just now!"
Armadillomon nodded at the treasure chest in front me.
Ok. So the badges teleport people out of dungeon, ferals disappear, sometimes they leave treasure. Frankly why that happens still bamboozled me, but at least I knew how stuff happened in this world. That was a step in the right direction.
"So we opening the treasure?"
"Yeah! I can't wait to see what's inside!"
With barely contained glee they bounced over to the treasure chest and opened it. To my surprise the chest just disappeared, and in its place an egg appeared. Or rather half an egg with two axe blades sticking out of it, and what appeared to be a bent stylized steam logo on it.
"Cool the digi egg of love! I can definitely use this!"
"Digi-egg of love?"
"Yeah, this is super useful. If I ever need to fly, this'll turn me into a Pteramon! Come one, we got everything we needed."
"If you ever need to fly...? Turn me into...?"
What?
I was still blinking in confusion when Armadillomon pressed the badge against me, and we both teleported out of the dungeon.
