Chapter 8: Seeking Alternatives

Dante sat at the desk and thought. Although business was a bit slow, the Hunter did not mind. He was on Cloud 9 and he was not coming down. For the first time ever, he had seen Vergil's sensitive side and he was amazed. Yea sure, he remembered that V was also Vergil, but he did not realize it at first. I should have though; Vergil loved William Blake's work. He sat back and thought about what they could both do when times went 'dry' like now. He opened the bottom drawer and pulled his papers out. He looked at them and read them over. Anthony "Tony" Redgrave. Elementary School Teacher at Red Grave City Preparatory. He picked up the phone with a sigh and dialed the number to the school.

"Red Grave City Preparatory?" A bubbly voice answered. Dante had to smile. It was his ward.

"Patty?" He asked. He heard a stapler drop.

"Dante?" She asked in a quiet tone. "What are you doing? How are you?"

"I'm good. Patty, my name's Anthony or Tony Redgrave here." Dante said. "Is the Principal in?"

"Yea, I'll transfer you."

"Thanks Patty." Dante said with a grin and waited. A few minutes later another voice came on. It was Patty's mother.

"Mr. Redgrave, it's been quite a while! How are you?"

"Principal Lowell, it's good to hear from you. I am doing ok. I was wondering, are you in need of an extra teacher?"

"As a matter fact, yes I do. They're second graders, good kids. Their teacher is retired, and I've been practically pulling my hair out to find a replacement."

"Well don't do that, I'd be more than happy to help."

"Mind coming in for an interview and a tour of the school?"

"Yes, I'd love to."

"Great, how's an hour from now?"

"Sounds perfect."

Two hours after Dante left, Vergil blinked when he didn't see Dante at the desk when he stepped into the office. Usually, he would be at the desk, manning the phone but this time, everything was neat, and the seat was cold. Where did he go? He looked around, to find a clue.

"Ah, I see Dante stepped out." Trish said. "He actually did it."

"What did he do?"

"He went to seek a position." Lady said from next to her. "He's done it before. Which is not a bad idea when missions run slow." Vergil thought and nodded. It really was not a bad idea. Hm, I have always wanted to go to Medical or Criminal Justice. I'm good for both fields.

"So, where would he go?"

"Maybe a strip bar." Lady joked. "I swear when I first met Dante, I thought he was a male stripper." Trish laughed and Vergil blushed. Oh God no… "I mean have you seen his moves, almost like a dancer's with pole play." At this Vergil blushed deeper red. Although there is truth there. I…

"Hi, did I take long?" Dante greeted as he walked into the office in a navy-blue suit with charcoal gray blouse and blue gray tie. On his feet, polished up Oxfords. Vergil growled softly. Oh God he looks….wow…

"Where did you go?" Trish asked.

"I had a gig." Dante said and this gave Vergil the wrong idea.

"What, you had a stripping job?" He asked and Dante blinked before laughing.

"No, I had a gig for a teaching job." He said when he calmed down a bit from the laughing fit. Vergil breathed a sigh in relief.

"Although I did take dancing classes and know how to move." He said as he demonstrated on a near by pole. "But not once, have I stripped or have I had dollars shoved down my g string." Vergil chuckled at that thought and Dante tilted his head before leaning in, whispering seductively. "But I'll dance, for you." At this Vergil gasped then growled his approval. Oh yes you will….

"So, you'll be teaching what?"

"Second graders." Dante said. "Think of it, I'll be shaping the minds of tomorrow."

"That's a scary thought." Lady said. "What are you going to teach them?"

"I will teach them right as I've always done." Dante said. "I've taught before."

"It's not a bad idea for us to take on other jobs on the slow seasons." Vergil said. "It would generate an income."

"True, what name you're goin under again Dante?" Nico asked.

"Redgrave." Dante said. Nico nodded and wrote it down. "Why?"

"Demon Daddy's gonna need one." She spoke. "Maybe we should stick with the A's There are not a lot of good V names."

"Give him a D one." Lady said. "What, he's kind of a dick."

"I haven't been that bad!" Vergil said with a gasp. Dante laughed.

"I got it." Dante said. "Aiden V. Redgrave." Vergil smiled at the Hunter in approval. He loved it.

"Actually, that sounds perfect for Demon Daddy here." Nico said. "Sophisticated and prestigious."

"True." Dante said with a grin. "And sexy too."

"Dante do you have a middle?"

"Yep, Damien. So, my full name is Anthony Damien Redgrave. But I'm called Tony too."

"Cool, so what's to happen now?"

"Well, Devil May Cry can stay as it is." Vergil said. "In fact, Ms. Goldstein, I am having a weapon's lab added here. You may stay here, while Dante and I move into the family home, which is being restored as we speak."

"Oh, Babe, that's a great idea. But what about….. ?"

"My Heart, your office and Devil Arms will be moved into our home into our own private office." Dante gasped and smiled while hugging the elder.

"Is there anything you haven't thought of Babe?" He asked as he kissed the elder on the cheek. Vergil chuckled and held the younger.

"Well, there is one." He said with a smile "What field I'm going into."

"I can see you as a Doctor." Dante said.

"You just want to see him in a white coat and have you in his office, maybe on his desk…." Lady teased. Dante giggled and blushed. Vergil smirked. I didn't think about that but what a deliciously wicked thought! I like it!

"Maybe I should do Criminal Justice."

"It's your choice Babe." Dante said. "Me personally, I think the doctor idea is fucking hot." Vergil's eyebrows raised at that before smirking. So, do I My Heart. So, do I…
