Chapter 10

The next day, Amy and Bernadette were in Penny's apartment for 'girl's night'.

"You spied on them?" Amy asked.

"No! it's not like that!" Penny said defensively.

"Then why did you waited for them while looking through the peep hole of your door?" asked Bernadette.

"Because!" she said grunting. "Ugh, I don't know what to do Bernie!" she said.

"If you want we can go across the hall and tell him right now." said Amy.

"No way! You can't do that!" Penny quickly said. "I'll die if you do!" she added.

"Then get your phone and text him!" Bernadette suggested.

"I don't think I could do that." said Penny. Bernadette then quickly grabbed her phone and threw it at Amy who caught it with both hands. Penny tried to get her phone but Bernadette blocked her way while holding her arms. "Amy give me back my phone!" she protested.

Amy started texting on Penny's phone. "Leonard, can you come over? I have something to tell you." Amy said while typing on the phone. "Sent!" she added.

"Oh my god! You didn't!" Penny exclaimed. Amy threw Penny's phone back at her lap. She looked at it and saw the message that Amy sent. "Oh my god Amy!? How could you!?" she said covering her face with her hands. The phone beeped and it was a text from Leonard.

"Sorry Penny, I'm out of the house right now. Maybe tomorrow." said Penny, reading from her phone.

Penny decided to respond. "Is it safe that you're out of the house tonight?" she said while typing then hitting the send button.

The phone beeped again. "Don't worry. I'll be fine." she said reading the screen. "I'm with Abby right now so if I get stabbed again, she could just stitch me back up again! LOL!" Penny said, putting her phone down. Amy and Bernadette stayed quiet, not knowing how to console Penny.

Penny then took a deep breath and began typing an her phone again. "You're with Abby?" she sent.

"Yeah, we're having dinner. But it's not a date if that's what you're asking." she said while reading her phone.

"Hey, you don't have to tell me everything." she responded.

"Okay. Cool. I'll talk to you tomorrow okay{smiley face}." she read Leonard's response.

Penny put her phone down, unsure at what to feel or say to the girls.

"Ugh! Why did that doctor have to steal Leonard away from me!?" she said, grunting with frustration.

Amy and Bernadette looked at each other, puzzled by what Penny said. "Uh Penny, she's not stealing Leonard away from you." said Amy. "He's not your boyfriend anymore." Amy added.

"Are you on my side or what!?" asked Penny. Amy didn't respond and just drank her wine.

"This is crazy." Penny said while filling up her glass with wine and drinking it all in one swig.

"Penny I think you should slow down." said Bernadette. "We all know how crazy you can be when you're drunk." Bernadette added.

"Why? You think I'll go out and have sex with some random guy from the street?" she snapped at her while drinking another glass.

"Well, you already did it with Leonard right?" Bernadette said in frustration as Penny glared at her. Amy decided to get in between them, sensing the tension between the two.

"Okay, you two should stop and cool down for a while alright?" Amy said, trying to diffuse the hostility between the girls.

"I don't know Amy, we're here trying to help salvage the situation with Leonard and she just acts crazy and unreasonable." Bernadette asked, not showing signs of backing away from Penny.

"I'm unreasonable now!?" Penny yelled.

"You are!" she yelled back, grabbing her purse. "You know what, I'm not gonna stay here and take this!" she said standing up and going to the door. "Good luck with getting Leonard back!" she said as she slammed the door behind her. Penny jumped and ran after her.

"Bernie, wait!" she said touching her on the arm. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you. Please forgive me." Penny said.

Bernadette looked at her and took a deep breath. "Okay Penny. Don't worry." she said. "But I have to go, I have to be early for work tomorrow." Bernadette said.

"Uh actually, I have to wake up early too." Amy butted in.

Penny sighed and nodded. "Alright. I'm sorry guys." Penny added.

"Hey it's alright bestie! Don't worry, I'm sure we can figure it out." Amy said, consoling Penny.

Penny woke up around ten-thirty in the morning with a splitting headache. She forced herself to get out of bed and go straight into the bathroom to clean up and take a quick shower to wash away the smell of alcohol from her system. After taking her ablutions and showering for almost thirty minutes, she went to her closet to get dressed for her afternoon shift in the restaurant. She was nearly done getting dressed when she heard someone knocking on her door. She yelled to ask who was it and Leonard answered her. She took a deep breath as she buttoned-up her uniform while walking towards her door. She unlatched the lock and turned the door knob, opening the door, seeing Leonard standing in the hail looking at her.

"Hey Leonard! What's up?" she asked.

"Uh, you texted me last night. You said you wanted to say something to me." He said, puzzled by her question.

Last night's events suddenly came back to her. She remembered Amy using her phone to text Leonard and the following text exchange revealing Leonard's whereabouts last night. She tried to laugh it off, hoping to pass off her text as a prank to him.

"Oh right? No, Amy texted you using my phone last night." she said. "I'm sorry about that." Penny added the same time as Leonard's phone rang. He pulled it out and saw it was Abby on the other line.

"Hi!" said Leonard then listening to Abby. "Okay...uh huh...no problem. Great! I'll see you later." He said before putting down his phone and facing Penny. "You know what Penny, it's fine. Don't worry about it." he said. "I'll see you around okay?" he said as he turned around and went back to his apartment.

Penny sighed with relief and went back inside her apartment. She can't help but feel conflicted if she should be honest and come clean to Leonard or just keep it all to herself. She decided to keep it all to herself, knowing that things between her and Leonard would eventually normalize and if things start to look up for both of them, she would ensure that she wouldn't take him for granted anymore.
