Gosh that last paragraph from the previous chapter really did a number on me. After those sad sad chapters i'm going to try and shine a little light of hope, ew that sounded cringe... anyways enjoy!
Ba Sing Se, 3 weeks prior to Zuko and Katara's argument
"Thank you, sir. This tea is delicious!" the young man said. "The secret ingredient is love," Uncle Iroh replied with a soft smile.
A very old man of dark skin tone entered the tea shop. He wore a yellow robe, very similar to the ones the air nomad monks wore. The man walked over to the counter and talked to the employee, "Excuse me, do you know if I can find a lady that goes by the name Katara here?"
Uncle Iroh overhead the man's words and couldn't help but intervene. "Lady Katara has not visited Ba Sing Se in a long time. But may I ask why you're looking for her?"
The man turned to face Iroh, "I have some very important information that I must share with her. I've actually been on the search for her for a long time now. But it seems like everytime I get somewhere they don't have any idea where she is."
Iroh gave the stranger a smile, "Well you're in luck! Katara has been staying in the Fire Nation Palace for about a year now. I recently just came back from staying there myself."
"Thank you very much!" The man walked out of the tea shop and headed towards his new destination, the Fire Nation.
Katara awoke in her bed from another nightmare. You would think that at this point she would get used to them. But it always felt the same as when she found out he was missing.
However now she wouldn't look to the side of the bed to double check, she knew that he was gone. And all she wanted was for him to come back. To wake up to find him staring at her with those loving grey eyes that make you feel you're looking into a storm. Those eyes that would make her cheeks turn red and make her feel like the only girl in the world. She craved his touch, his hands on her body. But most of all she missed his hugs, when he hugged her he would hold her head with his hand to make her feel a little more protected and to remind her that she's got him.
Katara got out of bed and went over to Liang's crib. She picked her baby up and fed her. Liang opened her eyes and smiled at her mom. Katara looked into her baby's eyes, they were just like Aang's.
Her skin resembled a mixture of Aang and Katara, she had Katara's brown chocolate hair, Aang's nose, Katara's ears, and her face shape resembled Aang.
The thing Katara loved the most that her daughter resembled her father, was that she got his smile. That big wide crooked smile that would make it impossible to be sad around. This was a piece of him that she had now and it gave her warmth.
She then placed her back in the crib and went into her closet. She began to grab all of her clothes and change back into the watertribe outfit. As she put bags and clothes on her bed she heard the door knock. "Come in!"
She then frowned to see Zuko come in. "Hey," he said with a low voice. "Hey," she replied with the same tone.
"Look I just wanted to come and apologize for last night I had no right to do that or go off on you. And I needed you to know that-" He was then cut off by seeing the bags and clothes on her bed.
"Are you- Are you packing?" the firelord asked with a worried tone. Katara looked up and nodded.
"Katara, please don't go. I'm so sorry for what happened, but please you can't leave." She looked gave him a frown. "Look Zuko, I forgive you for what happened last night. But I can't stay here anymore. I can't continue to sit around and do nothing all day. I can't just wait around in hopes that maybe some news of Aang will come. I need to go back home and be with my family. I want Liang to grow up in the Southern Watertribe and know her people. I'm sorry Zuko, but I've made up my mind."
He was heartbroken by her decision, "I understand, but if you need anything know that I'm always gonna be here." He then walked out of her room and a single tear dropped from his face.
After 3 hours of packing Katara was finally ready to go. She was about to turn to get Liang, when she then heard another knock on the door. "Come in!"
She turned to find Zuko at the door and sighed heavily. "If you're here again cause you want to stop me from leaving, I already told you my mind is made up."
"Actually, I'm here because someone's looking for you." Katara looked up and opened her mouth slightly. She hasn't had any visitors in a very long time, specially ones that were looking for her specially.
When she got to the throne room, she saw an old man who wore a yellow robe. "I heard that you wanted to see me?" she asked the stranger.
"You're Katara?" she nodded to his question. The man put a smile on his face, "Finally! You are a hard woman to find." Katara tilted her head in confusion. "Why were you looking for me?"
The man's face turned serious once more, "I am Guru Pathik, I helped Avatar Aang with controlling the avatar state." She opened her mouth slightly to the memory of Aang talking about him and how he helped him with his 'chakras' or something. "I'm here today, because Aang needs your help."
Katara's eyes widened to his words, "You know where he is?! Tell me! Where is he!" She cried out while coming closer to the Guru.
"Calm down, Katara. Yes, I know where Aang is and what occurred to him. But more importantly I know how to get him back."
Katara gave a big smile to the man's words and tears of joy began to flow from her face.
