Confession
Weiss extended her hand, keeping the ring pointed at Ruby.
'Will you cooperate this time?'
Ruby's eyes were blank at first, but Weiss stared narrowly. This wasn't the first time she'd done this. Ruby's eyes glowed faintly, her silver eyes responding to the familiar twang of the ring.
'At least it doesn't hurt anymore' Weiss thought. "I guess I should reset her…" She said aloud, a heavy weighted guilt in her voice.
"Ruby-" She paused, sighing.
"Yes?" The girl answered monotonously.
'No...I can't continue like this. Not again.'
"Ruby. You will not attempt to escape or fight. You won't be able to leave the bed you're currently on either. Understood?"
"Yes Weiss."
"Now change back to normal and wake up." Weiss said, putting her hand down.
Ruby gasped, looking around nervously. She came to life from a stasis, her silver eyes looking to Weiss's in confusion.
"What happened? Where are we Weiss? Wah! Why are you- WAH!" Ruby became aware of Weiss's stark nudity before realizing she was naked as well. She yelped in shame and covered herself with a blanket, looking away.
Weiss smirked, despite her sadness, surprised still by Ruby's refreshing innocence. Weiss covered herself with the other blanket, saving Ruby the extra embarrassment.
"I want you to stay calm. This might be a bit overwhelming. We'll take it slow."
"What will?"
"Ruby, start remembering everything."
Ruby's eyes widened and she tensed up, clenching her hand into a fist around the blanket. "Nn...Gah…" Memories started to pop back into place, filling the gaps in her memory.
There was a moment of silence, and Ruby gave a betrayed stare at Weiss. "The ring. How do you still have it? I destroyed it."
"You did." Weiss answered.
Ruby clenched her fist, eyebrows creasing. "Then does Salem still have control over you?"
"No. You definitely got rid of that." Weiss assured her.
Ruby seemed to look somewhat relieved, but the concern never left her face.
"Then I don't understand. What is all this?"
"Take a closer look at this ring. Think about it." Weiss said, showing her the ring once more in its blue ethereal form.
Ruby's eyes widened with realization. "Your semblance can summon any Grimm…." Her shock turned into disappointment.
"And the ring is Grimm." Weiss added.
"Did you really hypnotize me? How?" Ruby asked, barely able to believe what was happening.
"I... I did. I was surprised it worked at first," Weiss admitted, "but it seems since the ring is powered by my aura and not a Grimm, you seemed to be as susceptible as anyone else."
"But why? After everything, you still did this? Weiss. How could you!?" Ruby asked, tears starting to form in her eyes. It was a rare sight to see Ruby truly angry. For Weiss, it hurt to see.
Weiss sighed. "Please, before looking at me like that. Just remember a little more."
"Remember what!?" Ruby snapped back, the tears now falling from her face.
Weiss held up her ring as she responded.
"Remember what happened after everything. How it REALLY was."
Ruby felt herself being pulled from reality, a vivid memory that felt more like a dream appearing in her mind. It was like she was watching it all from the sidelines, her mind focused on the scene Weiss was showing her. She was drawn in, unable to focus on anything else.
"She's asleep." Blake stated as she closed Weiss's bedroom door, rejoining the others in the hallway.
"We need to talk about this seriously. How do we know we can still trust her?" Yang asked.
"What? What do you mean?" Ruby retorted with an angry expression. "That was all Salem."
"How do we know she isn't still being controlled by her?" Blake asked reluctantly, clutching her left elbow with her right hand and biting her lip in uncertainty.
"She isn't. I felt it. Salem's control left her. Trust me." Ruby assured, slight desperation in her voice as she tried to defend Weiss.
"Even if she isn't, are we supposed to just be okay with what she did?" Yang questioned.
"Yes, I find it hard to believe that you can defend her so easily after everything, Ruby." Blake agreed in a low voice.
"But, she's our teammate!" Ruby exclaimed in defense. "And more importantly our friend. Right?...Right?" Her gaze shifted repeatedly between her two team members, desperately hoping for their confirmation.
"Yeah...I guess." Yang answered finally, but her tone was less than convincing.
After the vision concluded, Ruby took a moment to process what she saw. She shook her head, meeting Weiss's gaze with her own.
"We had some issues. But we would have gotten through it. Did you not have faith in our team's ability to get over this?"
"If it was just that, I might have. But I really felt that I needed to do what I did." Weiss argued. "I'll show you what I mean." Weiss continued to explain, pointing the light back at Ruby.
Blake stirred her tea, blowing on it softly. She gave it another stir, giving her spoon a small spin as she took in a deep breath.
She purred, smelling the sweet aroma of the green tea. Her ears wiggled softly and she lifted the cup, taking a sip.
She turned around and headed towards the exit of the kitchen.
Weiss turned the corner at the same time, entering the kitchen.
"Ah!" Blake yelped, almost spilling her tea.
"Sorry, didn't mean to startle you." Weiss apologized before she looked left and right. "Have you seen Ruby?"
Blake swallowed, not answering right away. She felt her heart race and she was frozen. There was nobody else around. Blake couldn't help but zone in on that realization.
"Are you okay?" Weiss asked, seeing her discomfort. She took a step forward.
"I-I'm fine!" Blake tried to reassure her, but she took a step back.
"Blake...I…" Weiss tried to say, taking another step forward. But Blake just took another step back, the even surface of her tea vibrating with little ripples as she shook. She wasn't sure if it was out of fear...or something else.
Blake felt her heart racing. There was a heat resurfacing she had grown too familiar with. 'Every time I'm alone with Weiss she usually…' Blake forced herself not to finish that thought.
"Hey Blakey, you were taking a while. You making a cup of tea or opening a tea shop?" The blonde joked upon entering, but her smile faded when she registered the awkward silence.
"Sorry. Let's go." Blake said, putting down her tea and walking out of the room quickly and grabbing Yang's hand.
"Woah-kay?" Yang said. "What about your tea?"
"We're skipping the movie tonight." Blake whispered to Yang in an impatient voice.
Yang's cheeks reddened, unused to Blake's forwardness.
Ruby shook her head, bringing herself back to reality.
She looked at Weiss, confused. "Why are you showing me this?" Ruby asked, holding her head to numb the pain. Weiss ignored her question, giving her a moment to rest. Ruby just used the time to try to piece things together. And a creeping realization that Ruby didn't want to believe started to form in her head. "...Was it not just me you hypnotized?"
Weiss stayed silent, causing Ruby to lash out at her.
"Weiss?! Answer me. What did you do?!"
"I need to show you and you'll see." Weiss stated before sending Ruby back into the trance, memories flowing in once more.
Ruby got her 4th cookie from the tray and started munching.
"You know, I'm pretty sure nobody's trying to steal your cookies. You can slow down." Yang laughed, teasing her.
Ruby gave a playful smirk, cookie crumbs still on her lips. "Hmm? I know your ploy."
Yang's smile faded and she felt her heart skip a beat. "W-What?" She said.
"You want one, don't you?" Ruby asked.
"Oh...I don't know. It's okay." Yang said, surprised by her own reaction.
"Yang Xiao Long, don't be shy." Ruby said, grabbing one and offering it to her.
"I'm not that hungry. Haha..." Yang turned her head away, trying to laugh it off. But Ruby followed her. Seeing Ruby take a step closer to her was having an effect on Yang that she didn't want to accept, let alone address.
"You know you want it." Ruby teased.
Yang blushed and took the cookie from Ruby's hand. Touching Ruby's fingers was like an electric rush. She froze, stiff in her seat. But she quickly snapped herself out of it, shoving the cookie in her mouth hastily in an attempt to cover her reaction. Before she could show her embarrassed expression to Ruby she turned around and ran away.
"T-Thanks sis. I just remembered I gotta go. Talk to you later."
"O-Okay?" Ruby said, a bit puzzled. But that didn't stop her from eating another cookie.
On her way out of the house, Yang passed Weiss and they exchanged glances. Yang had hidden her guilty expression from Ruby, but Weiss saw it, observing in silence.
Weiss frowned at the kitchen doorway, staring blankly at the wall.
"Okay, don't look so gloomy, you can have one too." Ruby said, walking over with the last cookie on the tray.
Weiss couldn't help but smile. Ruby had a way of making her always feel happy just by being there.
"Thanks Ruby."
Weiss took a bite and she hesitated taking another.
"How much sugar is in this?"
"Ehehe~ I won't tell you my secret recipe. Nice try Schnee. Just enjoy it."
Weiss giggled. "I suppose one won't hurt."
Weiss looked at the doorway and her smile faded. Her mind was drawn back to her concern for Yang.
"Ahh...it hurts..." Ruby grimaced, feeling a throbbing pain in her head. Weiss rushed to her aid.
"Let's take a break." Weiss said with concern in her voice.
"No." Ruby shook her head. "I don't need a break. I don't need anything from you but answers. Blake? Yang too?...After everything?" Ruby said, unable to look Weiss in the eyes anymore. Ruby's tears were falling now, Weiss could tell despite looking away.
Weiss bit her lip, fighting her own emotions.
"Show me...right now. What did you do, Weiss." Ruby questioned seriously, forcing herself to look back at Weiss as her judging gaze pierced Weiss's eyes.
"...Very well. Let's continue." Weiss conceded, and Ruby felt herself fall into the blue ring's light once more.
"Luminous" Weiss said, staring at Blake's expressionless face.
"Weiss, what are-" Yang began to ask, before her eyes too became dull.
"Come inside. Move beside Blake. Now…both of you go into trance." Weiss commanded.
Ruby groaned in discomfort, refusing to see the rest.
"Are you okay?." Weiss asked, trying to comfort Ruby by combing her hair.
"Don't touch me!" Ruby snapped, feeling completely betrayed. "Why did you do it Weiss? I..I defended you. But you wanted to cover for your mistakes? Did you do this for yourself?"
Weiss's heart sunk. She tried to reply, but no words would form.
"AND ME? Am I just your trophy Weiss? Is this what you call love?!"
Weiss grit her teeth and clenched her fist, her nails digging into her skin as her hand trembled from the pressure.
"THAT'S NOT IT! DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT LOVE!" Weiss screamed.
Ruby was taken aback, silenced by Weiss's reaction. She wrapped the blanket around herself more tightly, trying to find some comfort under Weiss's scary gaze.
"Sorry...I wasn't done showing you that memory. I didn't do this for myself. Things were getting worse. The effects from before were still there. You may not believe me, but I'll let you see for yourself. Please...don't resist."
The two stared silently at each other for a few moments, letting the tension dissipate. Weiss hardened her resolve to continue. She lifted her hand and the light shone into Ruby's eyes once more.
"Ah…" Ruby groaned as the previous memory continued to flow into her.
Now that Weiss had them under trance, she looked over the two of them to ensure things would work in the way she intended.
"You'll both forget the tragic events that unfolded recently, and act as you have always been before that happened." Weiss paused, contemplating something. "Anything at all that has scarred you, I want to free you of that burden."
"Yes Weiss…" The two agreed.
"It's for your own good. And one last thing…."
Ruby gasped, realization striking her as the pieces fit together. Interrupting Weiss' recollection of what had occurred once more, "S-Stop..." she managed to say, struggling to bear with the sharp pain.
"You see it clearly now. I can tell by that look on your face." Weiss' voice trailed off.
"I'm sorry...you really did try to help them." Ruby noted, pausing. She struggled to continue, finding it difficult to form words. Despite that fact, there was no joy in Ruby remembering this memory. Something else loomed at the end that she didn't want to remember.
"I did." Weiss acknowledged that fact.
"Helping them is one thing, but why...why did you make that final request?"
"For the same reason." Weiss answered
Weiss didn't need to show her the end of this memory anymore. Ruby knew. She had seen it herself.
"My last request is that tomorrow, once you wake up, you will forget about me. Delete all memories about Weiss...Weiss Schnee."
Weiss stuttered, her lower lip quivering as she found it difficult to continue. She felt her eyes watering and she quickly wiped the tears away.
Weiss took a deep breath and continued. "Make it so that it's as if you never met me. By this time tomorrow, I'll already be gone."
"Yes Weiss." The two answered.
"I'm going to miss you so much…" Weiss murmured to herself. She breathed in, feeling the tears coming.
"Damnit…" Weiss said finally, feeling the tears stream down.
"Weiss. What are you doing?" Ruby asked from the entrance to her room..
"Ruby?! When did you get home? How long have you been there?" Weiss turned around, hiding the ring behind her.
"Long enough." Ruby said, reaching behind her for her weapon. She looked back, finding herself unarmed there.
"I'm not...I'm not under Salem's control anymore, Ruby." Weiss promised, feeling the tension rising.
"Sorry Weiss, but after everything I think I'll have to confirm that myself." Ruby explained before activating her silver eyes and charging forward.
Weiss winced, stepping back and holding her hands out in front of her to block her.
Ruby's eyes widened in surprise.
Weiss braced for the impact, but none came.
Ruby put her hand down, standing in front of Weiss in silence. Her silver eyes deactivated and she stared in an expressionless haze.
Ruby felt groggy, her gut telling her not to look at the memory anymore and the dreamlike scenario snapped out of focus. Suddenly, she was back in Weiss's room.
She continued to feel the pounding in her head. It felt like her brain was ready to explode, but she didn't falter.
"How...how did it work?"
"I'm not sure myself. I was ready to be beaten up then."
"You didn't try to fight me there. You really are free from Salem..." Ruby said with a strained smile.
"For you to still worry for me after all this. You really are too nice." Weiss said sadly. "I suppose it's because it's powered through my aura, my semblance. It is an ethereal image of the Grimm. But it's my power now."
Ruby didn't reply, trying her best to cope with her headache.
"You asked to keep going. Are you sure you can handle it?"
"Yes. Keep going…"
Weiss nodded and lifted her hand.
Ruby stared back in a dull silence, and Weiss took a moment to collect herself. 'It's time.' She decided.
"Ruby…" Weiss said finally.
"Yes Weiss?" The girl answered.
"You'll both forget the tragic events that unfolded recently... " Weiss started her list of commands, making sure not to miss a single one. "...and for my last request. I ask that you...that you-" Weiss gasped, breaking into tears.
"Ruby...Ruby I... I'm sorry." Weiss sobbed. But I order you... I order you to forget about me once you wake up tomorrow."
Ruby's face contorted into an uncomfortable expression. Her dazed eyes started to refocus.
"Forget…?"
"Forget Weiss Schnee completely." Weiss ordered again.
Ruby's head throbbed and she cried out in pain.
"No…" Her voice was soft at first and Weiss was taken back. "I won't forget." Her focus sharpened and she felt herself breaking out the trance.
"I won't forget you Weiss!" Ruby screamed, her silver eyes glowing once more.
Ruby shook her head, regaining her bearings. Weiss took another step back and shined the light on Ruby again.
Ruby winced, covering the light and charged at her.
There was a thud and Ruby pinned Weiss down.
"Well…" Weiss. "This again?" Weiss joked, finding Ruby on top of her again. "You know if you were actually into this kind of thing, you shouldn't-"
"Remove your summon." Ruby didn't even let her finish.
"Ow Ow! Okay! Okay." Weiss conceded, cancelling her summon.
"Explain yourself. You didn't even fight back this time. You didn't control the others either to make them attack me. What is this? This isn't because of Salem this time is it?" The perceptive leader questioned.
"Of course not. I was trying to fix it Ruby. I just…" Weiss trailed off, her lips trembling before she started bawling, muffling her sobs.
Ruby let go, letting Weiss sit up, surprised by her tears. "Hey, sorry I was rough. Did I hurt you? I just had to make sure." Ruby explained. Weiss didn't reply, hiding her face and wiping her tears.
"What were you trying to do?"
"Don't ask me that." Weiss finally said.
"What?"
"I just wanted to fix everything. Why didn't you let me fix it?" Weiss asked.
"Fix what?"
"Fix my mistakes. Everyone is so messed up. The team will never be the same. You can pretend to ignore it. But you must notice too."
Ruby looked guiltily, knowing exactly what she meant. "We just need time."
Weiss shook her head. "You know that's not true."
Ruby bit her lip.
"Just let me-"
"NO!" Ruby yelled.
"What?"
"I thought you said you cared about me. You want to just leave the team and make us forget you? You want to leave ME!? What kind of sick joke is this." Ruby snapped.
"That's not fair."
"What isn't?"
"I saw our team breaking apart. It was no different than the broken family I had back home. All just pretending everything was okay while the monster just pretended to be a part of them…" Weiss paused, having difficulty continuing. She hardened her resolve. "And this time I'm that monster. I was just trying to undo it."
"You're not a monster."
"I am! Even if it means I'll die, I need to try to undo the damage I've done. I'm going to fight Salem. Alone."
Ruby couldn't believe her ears.
"That's suicide!"
"It's saving everyone. It's saving you!. I love you."
"I love you too."
"That is...that is a lie."
"No it isn't! How do you think I broke free here? I couldn't bear the thought of life without you. I love you."
"Well...clearly not in the way that I needed."
"I'm sorry…" was all Ruby could say, remembering the night they had that talk.
"What did you want to talk about?" Ruby asked, sitting on Weiss's desk chair, kicking her feet playfully.
Weiss twiddled her thumbs for a moment.
"You heard me didn't you?"
"Heard what?"
"What I said before you used your eyes on me."
Ruby's kicking stopped and her expression grew more serious. "I did."
"I wasn't talking about it as friends. You understand what I mean right?" Weiss felt her heart racing.
Ruby paused, trying to find the words. "If you're talking to me about it like this...you meant it in that way?"
"Yeah…"
Ruby blushed, smiling. "That's flattering." Her smile was short lived and grew more somber. "I do love you. But maybe not in the way you do. I'm sorry."
Weiss inhaled, nodding. She smiled. Not in the way she usually did with Ruby. It was what the girl used to show to her father when she needed to. It was a fake. It was an imposter's mask. Beneath that practiced expression was nothing but pain and anguish.
"It's okay. I just wanted you to know. I hope things aren't too awkward." Weiss ended her joke with a little laugh, hiding her true emotions.
Ruby broke the silence with a hug. "Of course not. Nothing could ever make me treat you any different. You're my best friend. I'll always be here for you." Ruby reassured her, holding Weiss in a soft embrace.
"Ruby...
...you are too nice."
Ruby stopped contemplating that past rejection. What was important now was stopping Weiss from trying to erase herself from their memories.
"I thought we were okay after that. Were we not?" Ruby asked, doubtful.
"Of course you would. You're so fucking naive. If you really cared about me you would have noticed!" Weiss stopped, wiping her eyes before more tears came. "That's not right...I'm sorry."
"I just wanted to continue being your friend. I didn't know it caused you so much pain."
"Well it did. And that's not your fault. But it's just too much for me. You can't change how I feel about you. I don't belong in this team, I have no place here. So let me do this for you, for everyone."
Ruby shook her head. "No...I don't want to lose you Weiss. Just like you can't change how you feel about me, I can't change how I feel about you."
"Can't you see I'm in pain! Can't you see being alone is too much for me?! It's not fair!" Weiss screamed.
"You aren't alone. I want to be there for you." Ruby said, walking forward to try to comfort her.
"You're the one that causes me the most pain!" Weiss exclaimed, pushing Ruby away roughly, causing her to stumble back onto the bed.
"I'm sorry…"
"No...I'm sorry. This ring fucked me up. I can't contain my emotions…my lust." Weiss explained.
"We can defeat Salem together." Ruby suggested.
"It's too dangerous. I can't trust myself to contain myself. Even if we can defeat her somehow, how can we find her? How long will that take? I can't...I just can't Ruby. W hat if I do something to Yang, to Blake,...or to you?"
Ruby blushed, approaching slower this time.
"Then let me help with that."
"What?"
Ruby's eyes narrowed, her cheeks red with shame. "Hypnotize me. I'll...keep you in control until we can defeat Salem together. I'm the one you want anyway right?"
"You can't be serious." Weiss responded in disbelief.
"I am. If it's just being there to keep you company, give you the attention you need, and you know...embrace you..." Ruby became more flustered at that last part.
Ruby's reaction was just far too adorable. Weiss felt her heart flutter at the sight, quietly appreciating this moment.
Ruby was the one to break the silence.
"Like I said...I love you so much. If I can help with even this...then do it. I won't resist."
"Really?"
"As long as you don't do anything weird..."
"Ruby, I will do nothing but cherish you."
Weiss smiled.
Ruby smiled back.
"Then let's do it." Ruby confirmed.
Finally back to the present, the rush of memories stopped and Ruby gasped as Weiss finished unlocking her memories.
"I asked for this?" Ruby could barely believe it.
"You did."
"What happened after?" Ruby asked, wondering how they even got to the point where Weiss had to unlock her memories.
"Every now and then you realize it's not real. That this fake relationship is not what you really want. Maybe it's because of your silver eyes. I don't know." Weiss explained with a sigh.
"Oh..." Ruby said.
"It's not your fault. Normally I just reset you before you completely undo the hypnosis."
"Well, then what are you doing? Are you going to reset me?"
"No."
"What?"
"This time...I'm done."
"What do you mean you're done?"
"I mean...things can't go on like this anymore Ruby."
"Why not? Did I do something wrong? Is it because I break out of trance? I'm sorry. I'm okay being reset. Really."
"It's not that..."
Weiss bit her lip, still unsure if she'll be doing this.
"Talk to me." Ruby assured her.
"I see things getting worse. Blake and Yang, I could fix them. But me, I can't fix myself."
"That's why we did this didn't we? I really..." Ruby blushed, stumbling over the words. "I haven't minded much really."
Weiss sat on the bed, cupping Ruby's cheek.
"You've done so much. I just wish it was enough for me."
"It isn't?"
Weiss shook her head.
"No...I don't want to even try to explain the nasty perversions that run through my head when I see that adorable fucki-" Weiss forced herself to stop, breathing heavily, "that adorable face of yours."
Ruby felt a shiver run through her spine from Weiss's gaze. She felt like she was being preyed on.
"Umm..." Ruby stammered.
"Sorry." Weiss apologized and turned away, letting go. "As you can see, I'm certainly not fit to be around you. It's time to end this."
"What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to do something about it. And you won't stop me. I'll make you forget me this time. Whether you like it or not. "
"We've been over this. I won't let you."
"That's what I thought you would say. You see, I've been thinking about doing this for some time now. You won't ever let me right?"
"Yes."
"And that's because you love me?" Weiss turned her head back at Ruby, with a cruel smile.
"Y-Yes..."
"Then I'll just make you hate me." Weiss crawled over and Ruby tried to move away. Something in her body froze.
"I made it so you can't resist or leave. But feel free to keep trying."
"Wait, what are you doing?"
"I'm going to rape you." Weiss said finally. "I'll squeeze every ounce of love for me out of you."
"Weiss. That's not funny."
"No, it isn't."
Weiss took a moment to bask in Ruby's fear. "We really did think that this whole plan would satiate my desires and well...keep my lust in check. But really it's just gotten so much worse."
"Worse how?"
"Don't worry, I'll show you soon enough."
Weiss's cold tone reminded her of when Salem had control over her. But something was different here. Maybe it was the tone of her voice or the look in her eyes. But this was really her.
"No." Ruby shook her head. Her eyes flared up, her silver eyes shining on Weiss.
"Don't waste your effort."
Ruby kept trying and Weiss clicked her tongue, more annoyed than anything else.
"You're right Ruby. That is enough. I command you to stop, my pet."
Ruby felt a sharp pain in her head and she closed her eyes, gasping in pain.
"The pain will disappear soon." Weiss told her passively as she started her preparations, making a few small glyphs in her hand to test her semblance's reliability.
"You want to know something? I've prepared for this. I've been mulling it over for a while, so I wanted to be ready in case I went through with it." Weiss couldn't help but smile again, face blushing. "I can't believe how excited I am just thinking about doing all this."
"Weiss...don't." Ruby shook her head.
"That's it. Sow doubt in your mind about me. Look at what I'm becoming." Weiss giggled in a discomforting tone. Her eyes flickered red, for just a moment. "Since I'm not holding back, I might as well have fun."
Ruby stayed frozen in fear, helpless.
"Luminous."
Weiss's eyes narrowed, looking at Ruby like a delicious snack she had been saving.
Ruby's eyes dulled immediately.
"Increase sensitivity, activate full masochism mode, remove all limiters."
Ruby moaned even in trance, her mouth drooling a bit from the intense commands.
"You're doing great Ruby. Now I need to make sure you're awake for this. No passing out this entire session. Understood? Use your aura to keep your stamina up, like a good slave."
"Y-Yes..." The restless girl moaned.
"Wake up."
Ruby covered herself with the blanket, pressing her thighs together and moaning. Just the sheets brushing against her nipples made her make such a lewd noise.
"Weiss please...don't move closer!" She begged, barely able to take it as it is.
"Yes, that's the reaction. Fear me. I'll enjoy this face until it twists into the expression of hate. Then we can all move on to where we need to be."

I really intended for it there be only 1 more chapter, but it got too long and convoluted. I also had to do a lot of rewrites because of the complexity. Good news is that I know exactly how the last chapter will go! It won't take nearly as long as this one. That chapter will really be the conclusion to this wild ride. Look forward to it!
