Third Person POV
Jude was at her locker with Mal and Evie, getting books for another class as they talked. She suddenly heard multiple voices laughing and turned to the right to see Audrey, Chad, Ian, and Ben coming outside. She looked back into her locker, but not before noticing Chad tap Ben on the shoulder and point toward them.
"Those kids are trouble." Jude rolled her eyes at that statement. That's all most of the people think they are, just a bunch of villains because that's who their parents are.
"Bye, girls." Evie said as she left.
"Bye, E."
"Come on, Chad." Ian said.
"Give them a chance." Ben told him. Jude smiled, thinking about how at least two people there believes in them.
"Oh. No offense, Bennybear, Ian, but you're both just too trusting. Look, I know your mom fell in love with a big nasty beast who turned out to be a prince. But with our mom, Ian, the evil fairy was just the evil fairy. That girl's mother." Audrey said referring to and gesturing her head towards Mal.
"I think you're wrong about them. We'll see you later." Ben said as he and Ian walked toward them, Chad and Audrey heading in the other direction
"Hey!"
"Hey." Mal replied.
"How was your first day?" Ian asked.
"Super." Jude said with a slight sarcastic tone.
"You should really think about taking this talent off the locker and into art class. I could, uh, sign you both up. What do you think?" Ben asked them as Jane walked by, Mal looking at her as she walked into the building. Jude had a feeling she was getting some kind of idea.
"Way to take all the fun out of it." She said before she walked away.
"Huh." Ben said as he leant against the lockers.
"Don't take it personally. She's like that a lot." Jude told him.
"I kind of figured that." She shrugged her shoulders at his reply. "You know, you were really good at tourney earlier. Neither of us even know that was you."
"Nice to know Jay and I were able to kick your butts at something we've never really done before." She said, chuckling. "And, uh, thanks by the way."
"For what?"
""Taking a chance with us. You're pretty much the only ones here who believes in the five of us." She said, looking down. Ben put his hand on her shoulder, making her look up at the two boys.
"I don't think that you should be judged for something like your heritage." Ian told her.
"Well, I'll see you guys later." Jude turned and left, seeing Mal following Jane into the restroom.
"Hi! It's Jane, right? Ah, always loved that name. Jane." Mal asked, with a tone of fake interest.
"That's cool." Jane quickly said. She tried to leave but was stopped by the girls.
"Don't go! I guess I was just kind of hoping to make a friend. You probably have all the friends you need though, huh?"
"Hardly."
""Really? I mean, with your mom being fairy godmother and headmistress? I mean, not to mention your own, um... personality." Jude said as she tried to walk towards her, causing the girl to back away.
"I'd rather be pretty. You've both got great hair." Jude got an idea and motioned towards Mal's spellbook.
"You know what? I have just the thing for that." Mal said as she pulled the book out. "It's right... Ah, here. "Beware, forswear, replace the old with brand new hair."" She waved her hand around, causing Jane to follow. When she was done, Jane's hair had significantly grown longer and had slight curls in it.
"Wow! You almost don't notice your... Other features anymore." Mal said as Jane looked in the mirror.
"Do my nose!"
"Oh, I can't. I've been practicing, but you know, I can't do really big magic." Mal told her.
"And if I was better with my own magic, I'd have some plans for this." Jude said as she held up a piece of Jane's new hair. "Not like your mom with her wand. I mean, one swoosh from that thing and you could probably have whatever features you wanted."
"She doesn't use the wand anymore. She believes the real magic is in the books. And not the spell books, regular books with history and stuff."
"What a rip." The VK girls said in unison.
"Yeah."
"You know, she used magic on Cinderella, who wasn't even her real daughter. Doesn't she love you?"
"Well, of course she does. It's... It's just, you know, tough love. "Work on the inside, not the outside." You know, that sort of thing." She said, making an upset face.
"That's the face! Yeah, and then just look as If your... your heart is about to break." Mal said.
"'Oh, mother, I just don't understand why you can't make me beautiful, too.'" Jude said, acting as if she was really sad.
"Think it would work?" Jane asked.
"Yeah. I mean, that's what old Cindy did, right? And your mother Bibbidi-bobbidi-booed the living daylights out of her. And, hey, If your mom does decide to, you know, break out the old wand, invite us."
"If I can convince mom, you're so there."
"Yay." Mal said with fake excitement.
"Bye."
"Bye."
