"Ava!"

I ran through the trees, branches whipping at my face and body as I searched for my daughter. It was pitch black and I could barely see what was in front of me, wincing in pain every time a branch whipped at my face.

"Ava! Where are you?"

I stopped running and bent over to catch my breath. Why couldn't I find her? I had to find her, I had to save her...

"Mommy!"

My head shot up. "Ava!"

"Mommy help me!"

I started running again, following the sound of her voice. "I'm coming baby," It was like I was running in circles, the same trees passing me by, her voice fading in and out and I fell to the ground sobbing. "Please..."

"Mommy."

Looking up, I saw my daughter looking down at me and she smiled, deep red blood dripping from her eyes and mouth. "Why didn't you help me?"

I stared at her in horror, unable to move. "Ava...baby...I'm so sorry..."

She reached down and grabbed my arm, her dirty fingernails digging into my flesh. "You should have saved me..." her smile widened, blood dripping from her mouth onto me, "you left me to die...now it's your turn..." she raised her free hand and grabbed my neck, squeezing tighter and tighter until...

My eyes shot open and I gasped for air, sweat beading on my forehead.

"Well, look who's finally awake."

I turned my head towards the voice and tried to move, only to find myself strapped down tightly to a chair.

"You're going to regret coming here."

Looking up slowly, my eyes met his; the vamp who took my daughter. Anger bristled underneath my skin and I narrowed my eyes. "You think this will stop me?" I said quietly, never breaking eye contact. "I will kill you all."

He stared at me for a minute before roaring with laughter. The vamps surrounding him looked at each other before laughing along with him. "You're pretty confident for someone who is about to die."

I struggled against the restraints holding me to the chair while they all laughed, testing how tight they actually were. I had to give them their due; I was tied pretty tight. Maybe they'd actually learned a thing or two from the last time I killed half their nest. I honestly didn't know how I was going to get out of this one. "You know this won't hold me for long."

He stopped laughing and smirked. "It'll hold until they get here. The boss is waiting to see you."

I stopped struggling and looked up at him with wide eyes. "They're here?"

High pitched laughter echoed through the house. His smile widened and I knew he could hear how fast my heart was beating. He knew I was terrified.

This couldn't be happening. This wasn't supposed to happen like this! I started to struggle against the restraints again, wincing as the rope rubbed against my skin. I had to get out of here before they...

"Master."

I froze, tears beginning to prick my eyes and I furiously blinked them back. No. I couldn't cry, I refused to let them see how scared I really was.

The vamps around me bowed their heads as their boss walked into the room, murmuring their appreciation.

"Mommy."

My eyes widened as I watched her walk towards me. "No, no..."

She skipped over to me and sat on my knee, wrapping her arms around my neck and squeezing me into an unwanted hug. "Oh mommy, I've missed you,"

I shook my head, struggling to get away from her but the restraints kept me stuck to the chair. "No...you are not my daughter. Not anymore."

She gasped dramatically and stood up to face me, crossing her arms over her chest. "That's not a very nice thing to say to me, mommy. I've waited so long to see you."

I couldn't tear my eyes away from her. She hadn't aged since I'd last saw her; her black hair spilling over her shoulders, her skin pale and her blue eyes sparkling with humour and it was disarming. I knew what she was, what they had turned her into, but she was still my baby girl. Tears filled my eyes and I tried to blink them back. Seeing her after all this time...I knew in that instant I wasn't ready.

And she knew it too.

She smirked as she walked back over to me slowly, coming behind me and resting her small hands on my shoulders. I shuddered under her touch and closed my eyes, biting my lip to stop myself from sobbing.

"All this time chasing us, killing my nest, my family...that's not very nice at all, is it mommy?" she murmured into my ear, before hissing and sinking her teeth into my neck.

I cried out in pain, struggling against her solid grip on me before loud noises interrupted us both. I opened my eyes just in time to see a vamp's head roll across the floor and stop a few inches away from where I was restrained.

Looking up, I saw Freckles standing in the doorway, his machete raised high and covered in blood.

"Lenore, I..."

He stopped mid-sentence when he noticed Ava behind me, confusion then realisation and shock evident on his handsome face.

She ripped her teeth from my neck, her mouth covered in my blood and hissed at Dean as she took a small step back. "No!"

Dean looked between us both, not quite knowing what to do. I heard more scuffling and fighting in the other room, jumping in surprise when Sam flew through the doorway, three vamps on his trail.

"Dean a little help."

He shook his head and jumped into the fight, taking a few punches to the body before easily slicing off one vamps head before working with Sam to kill the other two.

I struggled to get free, acutely aware that she was still behind me, but blood loss made me dizzy. Turning my head, I saw Ava being pulled away from the fight by two of her cronies, making sure their master was safe. We looked at each other for a minute and I swore I saw my Ava for a second before she smirked and blew me a kiss as she disappeared into the night.

Dean rushed towards me, leaving Sam to kill the last vamp and tilted my head up, making me look into his green eyes. "Hey, hey...Lenore, you're ok. Let's get you out of here," he nodded at his brother, "Sammy untie her hands."

I nodded weakly as I watched them untie me before Dean scooped me up into his arms. "Freckles," I murmured quietly as my arms wrapped around his neck and I rested my head on his shoulder. "I said...I said...I'd shoot you..." I trailed off.

He chuckled softly. "You can decide on if you still want to shoot me when we get you out of here,"

Cold air hit me as Dean carried me outside and I shivered. "Thank...thank you..." I heard a car door open and he bent down, sliding himself into the back seat carefully whilst keeping me in his arms. He smelt like whiskey and vanilla and I inhaled deeply.

I felt him squeeze me gently. "It's ok now sweetheart. I've got you."

I heard a car door slam and the engine turn over before it sped away from the house. I felt weak and I sighed into Dean's neck as he held me to him tightly, stroking my hair with his fingers and murmuring to me that I was ok. Darkness clouded my vision and I welcomed it, letting Dean's warmth comfort me as I fell.
