Lucius stared out the window. There was nothing out here, not really. This part of space was widely unexplored for good reason. There was nothing bloody out here! There was no asteroid belt, no planets that he had seen, nothing except blackness.
"Are you sure this is the correct way?" Severus asked, leaning against the bulk head. Lucius nodded.
"Yes, all the navigation are correct. This is the way to the Hogwarts Space Station, although what Captain Lord Voldemort plans to find there is beyond me. We could be doing anything else right now. We could be plundering ships!"
"But no, we're looking for a destroyed space station that our captain thinks holds the most important treasure of all times."
"It had better not be another thermos..." Lucius grumbled causing Severus to laugh.
"True, true, the last treasure he made us hunt down was a bit-"
"Underwhelming?"
"That works," Severus answered, thinking about the silvery thermos they had crossed the dread Gringotts Asteroid Belt to find. It was nothing special. It was silver with a yellow and black sticker plastered across the front. It had supposedly belonged to a famous astronaut named Helga Hufflepuff. Not for the first time, Severus wondered if their caption was in his right mind. The being called 'Lord' did seem a bit much some days, and then there was the matter of his pet. Severus shivered thinking about the giant snake that accompanied Captain Lord Voldemort on every quest.
"Then there was that locket," Lucius added.
"Let's not even discuss it," Severus snarled, rolling his black eyes. True, so far every quest they'd been on, going to the far reaches of space, had never seemed to net anything for Lucius or Severus. They were however the only ones left of the original crew that was still loyal to Captain Lord Voldemort. Most of their shipmates had tried to mutiny and were jetted off into the void of a black hole the Slytherin had happened to be passing.
"Severus, Lucius!"
"Yes, Captain?" they asked, rushing to the bridge. Captain Lord Voldemort was sitting in his chair, his snake wrapped around his ankles. He pointed to the monitor.
"There's a debris field, zoom in closer," he ordered. Lucius nodded, taking his spot and maneuvering the camera. Severus watched their captain smile.
"Yes, this is it. Good job, Lucius. The remains, the shell should be that way, dock there and we'll board it. Hopefully it's still here," he muttered.
"Yes, Captain," Lucius said, doing as commanded. Soon they were docked on the remains of the space station Hogwarts. It had once been a large station, filled with people. There had been a training school there also. It had been destroyed in a great battle.
The station was silent as the three men explored it. Finally Captain Lord Voldemort exclaimed loudly.
"Nagini has found it!" he yelled as the snake slithered the ground between them.
"Now he can talk to the snake?" Lucius muttered. Severus nodded, wondering if perhaps space madness had finally taken what was left of their captain's mind. They followed him though, curious about what the snake might have found. There in a smashed glass case, nestled against maroon velvet lay a golden sword with a large ruby glittering in its hilt. Severus and Lucius exchanged glances. What could their captain possibly want with such an archaic relic. No one used swords anymore, nor had they in millennia.
"This is it! This is the sword of Godric Gryffindor, one of the great astronomers of the ancient times," Captain Lord Voldemort exclaimed, grabbing the sword. He waved it in the air, nearly slicing Lucius' oxygen tank.
"To the ship! We have so many more treasures to uncover!" he announced, leading the snake back to the ship.
"Madness," Lucius muttered. Severus only nodded in agreement. Maybe they should have joined the mutiny after all?
