Episode 9: On the Run Part 1

While Eve and her team have left for the mission at Downunada, Sonic and the others are about to have problems of their own.

The situation actually takes place when Dr. Eggman has been asleep for some time.

He continues to mutter in his sleep and moves around until a click is heard in his head. Soon enough, he wakes up and feels like he is in a daze. His eyes are black and redish, which is almost frightening.

Outside of the room, Snively is walking down the hall and wonders, "What was that sound? Did you manage to break something, Uncle?

Then reaches the door as he says, "I do hope it was something ser…"

But the door bursts open as Eggman screams, "Sniv-laaaaaay!"

Snively screams in fright to see Eggman has suddenly opened the door.

Then Eggman glares at Snively, "What are you doing out here? Snoo-ping as usual!"

"I-! You-I U-uncle, p-p-please-! Y-you're not well! I-if you'll just g-get back in your..." Snively nervously says, but Eggman throws him to the wall.

Eggman angrily says, "No time! Must. Destroy. HEDGEHOGS!"

Snively groans as he sits up in shock, "How the blazes did he manage to get out."

He is still in shock to see Eggman is now leaving to who knows where. He knows that he needs to do something.

Snively then runs down the hall and calls out, "Voice command: Open Channel to all forces! All Dark Legion and Yagyu Ninja report to the Detention Level Immediately!"

"We have an-" But Snively is cut off, due to bumping into someone.

He looks up to see Jun Kun, the Iron King.

He turns towards Snively with a glare, "Watch where you going, runt. What is wrong?"

Snively stands up and answers, "Eggman escaped!"

"What?! You dare betray me?!" The Iron King angrily says.

But Snively quickly says, "No! I don't know how we got out! But if we hurry, we can catch him before…"

Suddenly a loud throoming sound comes out.

"He escapes…" Snively nervously says.

Somehow, Dr. Eggman is able to control a giant turtle Badnik and is rampaging everything in sight. The Yagyu Ninjas and the Legionnaires are running away from the robot as fast as they can.

Soon, Eggman says like a mad man, "I am Warlord Doctor Julian Ivo Reggman Robo-Kintobor Mach Two! My rule is law, and the law is my will! AND I HATE THOSE HEDGEHOGS!"

He reaches to the city limit as he says, "I will destroy the blur and black ones, you know! They're the obstacles that always get in my way!"

The Iron King and Snively look out the window to see Eggman is already past the city's limit.

The Iron King says, irritated, "Hmph. Inform the Queen."

"Y-Yes, sir," Snively says, still a bit jumpy.

Back in New Mobotropolis Hospital,Eve and her friends have already gone on their mission to Downunda while Sonic visits Bunnie who is resting in the hospital room, with Antoine already visiting.

Sonic brings a balloon for Bunnie and asks, "Hey, Bunni! How're you feeling?"

"Howdy, Suga-hog!" Bunnie happily says.

Then happily says, "Ah'm doin' just fine. Ah just needed a bit of rest, s'all," Bunnie says.

But Dr. Quack says, "And an emergency influx of electrolytes and constant supervision through the night… but what to call that 'rest.'

"You never should have been in that kind of danger. I should have warned you, and for that, I'm sorry," Ken says, and gives Bunnie a bouquet of roses as a get-well present.

Bunnie takes the flowers and says, "Darlin' ah'm a Freedom Fighter. Ah've been in plenty of danger before, and ah don't plan to stop. Ah appreciate the flowers though?"

"They're quite nice. You didn't leave your own bed to get them and do exactly what I told you not to, hmm?" Dr. Quack says with a firm expression.

"Well…" Ken says, nervously.

"Take it easy, Doc. I was with him the whole time," Sonic says.

Dr. Quack then turns to Sonic, "And that's supposed to comfort me? You;re a disaster magnet, kid."

"Hey. The same can go for Eve. She also gets into trouble," Sonic says.

Dr. Quack examines Ken as he says, "Magical Possession is dangerous stuff. Technomagic just makes it worse. You both shouldn' been in here the minute things calmed down."

"It was safer at Freedom HQ at the time, Doc," Bunnie says.

"And I got her back here the second thing cleared up. Literally," Sonic says.

Dr. Quack sighs, "I give up." Then leaves the room.

Once Dr. Quack is gone, Bunnie says to Ken, "Ah mean it, now, sugah. Don't beat yerself up over this. We all make mistakes, and ah forgive you."

"Oui. I am having forgiven you as well," Antoine adds.

"Thank you. I don't deserve it, but thank you," Ken says.

Suddenly, Nicole appears and says, "I'm sorry to disturb everyone…"

"No sweat, Nicole. What's up?" Sonic replies.

"I've been scanning for threats as far as the Great Forest… and I've detected something large inbound," Nicole says.

"I'll check it out," Sonic says to Nicole.

Then turns to the couple, "Twan, you stay here with your wife."

"If'n it's trouble. Give 'em one for me," Bunnie says.

Then Bunnie notices Ken, "And that goes double for you, mister."

"It will be my pleasure," Ken says.

But turns to the door to see Dr. Quack having his arms crossed. Then points to one of the hospital rooms.

Feeling defeated Ken says, "Or I could go back to my room and rest like the doctor told me."

"You'll be with me in spirit," Sonic says.

After that, Sonic then super speed out of the hospital and head towards the Great Forest To see what's going on. Soon, Sonic hears metallic noises and a lot of loud noises that are similar to something being destroyed.

Sonic speeds over, "I don't know what you're throwing at me now, Iron Creeps, but you've earned an extra helping of payback for what you did to Bunnie.

Suddenly, he hears a familiar voice full of rage, "Blast it! Knothole wasn't under that tree, either!"

Sonic is shocked to hear the familiar rage and hurries over to see the robot turtle and sees Dr. Eggman controlling it. The turtle robot pulls a large tree from the ground and tosses it aside.

Dumbfound, Sonic says, "Okay… I wasn't expecting this. Question is… is he back? Or is he still?"

Suddenly, the robot turns to see Sonic who is standing there.

"Ah! A Mobian! They can tell me where to find…" Eggman says.

But seeing Sonic jogs up some memories, "... wait… I recognize that one… it's… it's… SONIC!"

Confused, Sonic calls out, "Yo, Doc! Are you back? Y'know… back-back?"

But the only response he gets is from a missile that fires and lands behind him, knocking Sonic off his feet. Eggman then continues to fire more missiles.

Eggman shouts, "Here it comes, rodent! Right from the show!"

Sonic runs away from the missiles as he asks, "From the show?"

"From the show! I'm going to be on TV! I'm going to be… a TV Star!" Eegman says, still talking crazy.

Sonic dodges the attack, "Okay, we can rule out him being lucid."

Meanwhile, back in the throne room of the Egg Dome, word of Eggman 's escape back has been notified.

With that, the Iron Queen orders, "Yagyu: To the saucers! Legionnaires to defensive battle stations. Prepare my flying pod!"

Just then, Conquering Storm walks in, "A thousand pardons, Bride of Four Houses."

"Can't you see I'm busy!" The Iron Queen angrily says.

The Lynx leader kneels down, "I can, but I have received word that Espio failed his mission… and has been recalled to the Shinobi Clan."

"Blast it all," The Iron Queen mutters.

Then turns to the leader, "We'll have to worry about this so-called 'Master Emerald' later. I won't take any chances. Return to the Dragon Kingdom and make sure the other houses stay in line. And also make sure you escort our two new Brides to the Dragon Kingdom."

"It will be my pleasure… your majesty," Conquering Storm says.

The Iron Queen then makes her way towards Snivel.

Snively happily says, " Your forces and pod are prepared, darling!"

But the Iron Queen walks past him, "Good. I will not have my flawless conquest marred by your stupid uncle."

"O-of course not," Snively says, confused.

He turns to see the Iron Queen making her way toward the Legionnaires.

She points to Dimitri, "You're in charge of defenses while we're gone, Grandmaster."

"You can count on the Legion," Dimitri says.

Then the Iron Queen walks away as she says, "See that you do."

The Iron Queen soon leaves to her pod to recapture Dr. Eggman.

Dimitri then walks away as he says, "I'm returning to my lab. Lie-Da, I leave things in your hands."

"Stick me with babysitting?" Lien-Da questions.

Then walks away, irritated, "Peh. I'll be in my bunk."

Outside the Great Forest, Sonic is continuing to dodge the missiles Dr. Eggman is throwing at them. Soon enough, Tails is flying over the forest and is able to find them right away.

"Oh, no! He's back?!" Tails asks, shocked.

Tails then flies down as fast as he can and soon catches up with Sonic.

Tails calls out, "Sonic!"

Sonic turns to see Tails, "Hey, Tails! Come to check up on me?"

"Yeah. And the source of Nicole's signal…" Tails says.

Then panics, "What am I saying? Sonic! It's Dr. Eggman!"

"Eh… it is, and it isn't," Sonic says.

Suddenly, Eggman snouts, "Hold still and let me shoot you!"

Tails soon understand what Sonic is saying.

Then Sonic says, "I've been running in the same circle for five minutes now. Be a pal and disable the guns? I don't think he even sees you."

"O-okay," Tails says, skeptic.

Sonic continues to distract Eggman as Tails sneaks under the Egg Tortoise Robot and is able to find the hatch with the controls. Tails quickly opens it and begins to work on the controls.

Tails says, "Actually, it looks like I can shut the whole thing down from here."

"Perfect," Sonic says.

"This one doesn't seem that tough. You could've trashed it, no problem," Tails calls out.

"Yeah, I suppose…" Sonic says.

Tails continue to mess with the controls and soon, the whole Egg Tortoise stops moving and stops launching missiles and other attacks. Then it ducks into it's shell like a real tortoise, and Tails flies out before the robot squishes him.

Seeing that it's not working, Eggman shouts, "Why Tortoise No Workie?!"

Tails flies away from the robot and soon, he and Sonic meet up again.

Sonic says, "Nice work Tails."

"Thanks Sonic," Tails says.

Then asks, "You're not going easy on him, are you?"

"I… guess I am," Sonic says.

"Why?!" Tails asks.

Sonic leans to the robot with his arms crossed, "I really wish I knew. I mean,I've had no trouble wanting to kick his big ol' butt in the past. Everything he did is unforgivable."

"But…?" Tails replies.

"But this is different somehow. Eve and I didn't just beat him. I mean, if it wasn't for Eve, I might have actually broke him, and as stupid as it sounds, it makes me feel bad. Eve feels the same. And judging by how he's acting now, I think he did lose his mind," Sonic says.

Then turns to Tails, "... please tell me I'm making some sense?"

"None that I can follow. I don't think he deserves any sympathy at all," Tails says.

Suddenly, Eggman mutters, "...hello? Is anyone still there?"

Then Tails shows a calm smile and says, "But… that doesn't mean we have to be cruel in how we handle him. So I guess I can understand you feel like you almost crossed the line," Tails says.

"Yeah… maybe that's it. Thanks," Sonic replies.

Then begins to climb on the robot, "So the civil thing to do now is arrest him. Leaving him locked up with the Iron goons would be cruel."

"I suppose… but be careful! He may have lost his mind, but he's still dangerous," Tails says.

"Yeah. dangerous," Sonic replies.

Sonic climbs on the top of the robot and soon meets up with Eggman who still has some rage towards him.

"Okay doc. We're done fighting for today. Why don't you come with me, and we'll fight somewhere more another time, huh?" Sonic says, then holds his hand out to Eggman.

But Eggman then punches him in the face and he falls down to the ground.

Eggman shouts in triumph, "I did it! I got the hedgehog! I got him I got him I got him…! He never saw it coming!" Then begins to laugh like crazy.

Eggman continues to laugh maniacally until he is knocked out. With that, Sonic begins to have Eggmna's arm over him so he can carry him back to the city.

Sonic mutters, "Could really use Eve's help in carrying him back with her powers."

Then turns to Tails, "Okay, Tails? I think I'm gonna need a hand with him."

Tails grabs Sonic from his jacket, "And here I thought he'd slimmed down a bit."

"Maybe I should just run ahead and get Mighty…" Sonic says.

But hears a familiar voice, "Or you could simply hand him over to us, and surrender while you're at it."

Seeing who it is, Sonic jumps off the robot and on to the ground.

He says, "Get Eggman back to the city."

"I can't just leave you here with them!" Tails worriedly says.

"Relax, little bro!" Sonic says.

And look ahead to see the intruders are the Iron Dominion along with the Dark Egg Legion and the Yagyu Clan.

Sonic turns to Tails and gives him a thumbs up, "You've got the hard job."

Back in New Megaopolis, in the Dark Egg Legion's Barracks of the Egg Dome. Lien-Da is laying down on her bunk as she is in deep thought. Thinking about things that have been happening.

In her thoughts, Lien-Da thinks, "This isn't right. I am Kommissar. I shouldn't be bedding down with the regular troops. I shouldn't be just 'Kommissar' either. I should be Grandmaster."

Then sighs, "I'm long overdue."

Lien-Da then thinks a lot about her past, involving what happened in the Twilight Zone. As she thinks about her past, it's revealed that a lot have happened while being in the Twilight Cage Zone. Lien-Da's and her brother's mother died when they were really young. Time later, their step mother, Julie-Su's mother also died. And then father passed on, and Kragok ended up becoming the Grandmaster of the Legion. Lien-Da also has plans on becoming Grandmaster of the Legion, but it feels that someone else ended up getting that rank instead of herself. She also remembers when Dimitri also took command of the Legion, even back when he was Enerjak. And Reminington also ended up taking over the Legion as he also lost his memories. And now, Dimitri is now Grandmaster of the Dark Egg Legion.

"Luger, Kragok, Remington, Dimitri, each and every time I've come within reach of the control that's supposed to be mine, and each time, it has slipped away," Lien-Da thinks.

Suddenly, she hears the speaker saying, "Lien-Da! This is Dimitri. Meet me in the lab immediately."

Lien-Da sits up and hops off the bed. Then begins to make her way to the lab.

She says in her thoughts, "Grandmaster of the Dark Egg Legion. It is my destiny. My right. And I will take it."
