"No, I don't have any, no hopefuls for me." Gundruf blushed. Attempting to distract her want-to-be-hopeful, she looked at Hermione. "Thanks, I went looking around this place. You are right; it is easier dressing like them; I mean the Muggles."
Teddy wasn't easily distracted; he stood next to Gundruf, observing her unusual jewelry, waiting for an answer. Gundruf knew she needed to answer before Teddy said something else. She looked at him, "We can talk when you are a little older; for now, I will start my hopeful list with you."
Teddy nodded, changing his hair to look like Basil's. He sat to look at Gundruf and nodded again, "Okay, maybe when I am ten, we can marry."
Draco agreed, "Teddy, that is a good idea," he said it staring at Gundruf. He thought she was a hot witch. Perhaps for his dad, though he hoped Aunt Andy would marry him one day. There was a problem, Andy still loved her husband and never wanted to marry again. Lucius agreed Gundruf was beautiful, but who would want a sick wizard, Lucius thought.
Teddy wasn't done. He patted Hermione's hand, "God-mommy, isn't she pretty?"
Hermione, agreeing, told Gundruf, "Teddy is right; you are beautiful, the Muggle look favors you."
Draco winked, never-mind the crazy clothes adorned with small bones, spider webs, metal pieces, and what not; Gundruf was a beauty and looked much better without the clothes she had before. Almost without them, he thought after noticing the necklace, a mix of all the assorted items. He was amused; Gundruf was like Luna.
Gundruf saw Emile staring and blushed, "You found your look. My collection will have trousers next season." Emile was in baby-land, with no time for witches. He sat by Hermione, holding her hand. "My dear child, Alice, would have loved you so. We were all in heaven when you were born. Basil was a pest. He stopped going to school after coming down with a mysterious illness, starting the day you were born. His parents catered to his baby sickness. He was there for breakfast and held you all the time. I was not able to get close to my baby; needless to say, Jerome wasn't fond of Basil." He looked at Basil, and both laughed.
"I remember many brokers sent marriage contract proposals. If my memory doesn't fail me, the Malfoy sent a proposal for a future heir." Emile remembered.
Lucius guffawed, "My father sent a proposal; he wanted the best for unborn Draco; at the time, he was only a possibility. I guess Draco agrees; do you, son?"
Draco nodded, "Yes, good foresight." Hermione giggled at Draco's funny faces.
"So, is it true? You married Alice?" Gundruf looked sad.
"Yes, Alice wanted to keep it a secret for a while. Jerome was afraid his father wouldn't like it. Gundruf, isn't my daughter the prettiest witch ever?" He patted Hermione's belly, "She is pregnant; Alice would have liked that."
"What is 'pregant'?" Teddy asked. "Why are you rubbing her belly? Does my god-mommy have a tummy ache?"
Lucius and Draco laughed, "Not yet," Lucius teased Hermione. "He is Hermione's daddy and is touching the baby inside."
"Inside? Where?" Teddy asked. Andy pulled him to the side; Teddy's eyes opened wide, listening to Andy's explanations.
"Wait," Gundruf stood up. She reached inside the air, "You are not gone, are you? Alice, where are you?"
Draco said, "Can you ask Theo, the one carrying little Alice who, ahem, did it." With Teddy listening, you had to be careful what you said. Teddy was already by Hermione patting her belly; sniffing the air; leaning his head to see if he could hear the baby. Hermione giggled at Teddy's antics. Emile whispered something to Teddy, who beamed and kissed Emile's cheeks.
Gundruf answered. "Theo said, "The one you think did it. I cannot say her name. Be careful. She is outside with two Wizards and a Witch dressed like a Muggle man." Ah, he says the witch you know has Mimi's blood. She collected it when she was in the car."
"Who are them, the ones outside?" Basil inquired, "ask."
"Wait; Lady and Lord Dagworth, hello, good to see you; yes, I see you; we will look," Gundruf answered; before she could ask more, her hands went to her throat; she was choking. Teddy growled, leaped several feet over the table, and bit something. They heard someone swearing and saw blood dripping on Gundruf's jumper.
Teddy was scared, "The monster's hands were making her deader. I had to bite it, sorry." He ran to Hermione; Draco picked him up.
"Good Teddy; you did right." Draco kissed the scared little wizard. He cleaned the blood around Teddy's lips and on his retreating fangs. He was sure nobody else hadn't seen the blood nor the fangs.
"I want my mommy," Teddy said, visibly upset; as usual, when distressed, his hair was a dull grey, and he didn't want to talk. Draco handed Teddy to Hermione. She held him tight; Teddy's skin was freezing. Teddy squirmed, asking Emile, "Grandfather, you are bigger; I let you hold me, okay?" he stretched his arms, reaching out to Emile.
Emile picked up Teddy. Teddy sat on his lap, hiding his face on Emile's chest. Hermione wrapped her arm around Emile's shoulder and kissed his cheek. Everyone agreed; they looked like a family. Draco realized what Emile had earlier whispered; he'd told Teddy to call him grandfather. Andy decided, Draco or not, Teddy wanted Hermione as his mother; she would let Hermione adopt Teddy. She wanted what was best for her grandchild.
"What happened?" Lucius stood by Gundruf after noticing her neck; it was bruised.
"I don't know. I couldn't breathe; it felt as if someone were strangling me. Me. Teddy saved me after he saw something, thank you, my dear Mr. Teddy."
Lucius went by Teddy to touch him with his wand, and the little wizard fell asleep. Lucius decided Teddy needed to rest; he had looked feral, taking action to save Gundruf. Lucius seen the fangs and was glad that Teddy could see what was going, who cared if he had werewolf's blood.
"We cannot sit here and wait; we will need to go out. The problem is that the brothers don't do well around evil for extended periods. Miss Alttag, what did you see?" Lucius sat next to her, and Basil sat on the other side.
"Jerome's parents said to look in the vault. Lord Dagworth had been investigating; he urged us to read the reports. A relative who should be dead isn't; that relative and his wife killed Jerome and most of the family. Lord Dagworth is being blocked and cannot tell us the name. They have Mimi's blood from the car. We need to get it back." Gundruf stopped and looked at Emile.
"Alice said to remember what you did before you left. I couldn't hear well. She is different from the others; Jerome is hard to see." Gundruf looked weary and scared.
Draco was angry. "I made an error letting Astoria come in the car when Mimi was ill. I wish we could get evidence proving that Astoria killed Theo."
Hermione said, "With my blood, they can come in. I am not going to lie here, waiting for them to come and kill me. I agree with Lucius. If my parents' killers are out there, I will take care of them."
Emile was thoughtful. "Darling, tell me what has happened? This must end today; not one more murder." The famous designer told Hermione, "You'll stay here; your job is to protect the life you carry."
Hermione didn't see a reason to lie; most already knew about Theo. "Some months ago, I was with Theo. He was my lover and business partner. When I told him I was pregnant, he was upset. He lied, saying the Malfoy would not allow him to marry me; then asked me to go to a Muggle place to," Hermione stopped when she saw Draco, Lucius, Emile, and Basil's dark auras. Emile looked murderous.
"Theo regretted his choices. Please forgive him, I have. He left on a 'business' trip with Astoria. While he was gone, I lost Alice; but I went to a Muggle healer, faking my name. Nobody else knew; I kept my pregnancy secret. The next day, Basil came to tell me I was an heiress. He arranged for me to come here; Basil knew I had been pregnant, I told him. I didn't tell him from whom after I saw his reaction. He knew about this place. Three days ago..." Hermione told them what had happened since then, how Draco had been her savior and so on. Emile nodded at Draco, accepting him.
Draco added what he knew; he also said the healer knew about the lost baby. Emile shrugged a shoulder, "One memory can be changed. I think the relatives outside have a way to damage my child, and they will die before they have a chance."
Gundruf stared at Lucius, "You have a living curse here," she pointed at Lucius' neck. It is a piece of a witch. It look like someone standing next to her." She pointed at Andy. "She looks sad," Gundruf said.
Andy asked Lucius, "Maybe Bellatrix?"
Lucius was talented; he could draw quite well. Hermione gave him a piece of Muggle paper and a pencil. Quickly, he drew a sketch. "Is it her?"
Gundruf nodded, "I think so, but she is no longer here." Gundruf said she could tell a €_healer where it was. Lucius had new hopes to be healed; it could wait.
Hermione wanted Basil to go and look in the vault, but he shook his head. "I cannot open them; you are the only one who can. We must wait till you can travel."
Draco disagreed, "One of the brothers can take her; I can go with her and Basil."
"When?" Hermione asked.
"No, young lady; you don't go anywhere without me." Emile looked at Basil. "Is the pup your dog's daughter?"
"You know she is. Too bad Jerome didn't want JD; she would have saved them." Before Basil was sad, JD jumped on Hermione and barked twice.
"How?" Hermione asked.
"Before I answer, I need an unbreakable from the Malfoy family." Basil said.
"No, I trust them." Hermione insisted.
"We will do so; wait." Basil left the room and returned with a small portrait; he pointed his wand at it and said, "Engorgio."
The small portrait was now life-size, a portrait of Lady Dagworth. JD barked, and in front of four amazed Magical people, JD jumped inside the frame, into Lady Dagworth's lap.
"My girl, I missed you." Lady Dagworth cooed.
"JD, go to my house and bring your mommy." Basil ordered.
JD disappeared from the scene inside the frame for a few minutes; they heard several barks, and, out the frame, three dogs jumped out. One was but a puppy; the other one looked precisely like JD.
Basil laughed, "I said your..." he couldn't finish, the older dog jumped on Basil to lick his mouth. The younger one ran around the room greeting everyone, then jumped on Hermione to look at Teddy.
Hermione sighed, Basil was beautiful when he smiled. "What kind of trick is this?" Hermione asked.
Draco answered, "I don't think it is a trick; is it?" Hermione sighed again; Draco also looked great. She hoped that she didn't have to make a choice.
"No, but my parents will worry. Diane, go home now, and take Mila with you." Basil ordered; fat chance, the dogs ran around barking, waking Teddy up. Teddy was awake in seconds; all his fears forgotten. He jumped down, to chase the dogs.
Hermione felt sick when Teddy disappeared inside the portrait chasing JD's mother, followed by the other two. It happened very fast.
Basil grimaced, "Oh, oh."
"Get him back." Hermione ordered.
"How? For that, we need one of the dogs to come back; or we need to wait for Teddy." Basil answered.
"Where is he at?" Hermione asked.
"Somewhere in the 'underworld,' or at my uncle's home." Gundruf grinned, "They will be back, eventually. He is safe; I have a suggestion when they are back. Basil should have thought about it before."
"It better be good." Hermione felt strong, and decided she had enough sadness. She wasn't gone to allow a legion of wizards to run her life; and she was certain this would be the case. The least controlling was Draco, and that was a maybe. "I want to talk to my healer. Basil, could you get her? I will be in my room." She stood and went into her room, alone; it was time to take charge of her life. She thought she heard someone saying, probably a ghost. "They mean well."
"Whatever, the road to hell I paved with good intentions." Hermione mumbled and greeted her healer, when a thought crossed her mind, "Please wait."
Hermione went back the room, "We have the blood of whoever is ouside on Gundruf's jumper, any ideas?"
Draco smiled, "The smartest witch in a long, long time; many ideas now that you mention it." The smartest and the hottest witch ever, and hopefully, the naughtiest. Draco thought. Not an optimal thought, now he wanted her badly.
