Three things before we get started with Day 9:

1, sorry this is late! I was so busy today that I never got the chance to even write, so I had to do it all at the last minute.

2, pertaining to number 1, I just wrote this, so sorry it's a little shorter than these past chapters have been.

3, RJRMovieFan gave me an idea, and I want to ask you guys about it; after this is finished, who would like to see a little story where Emily tells Stacie how she feels, based on this fanfic? Let me know in either a review or a PM?

Now, on with the show!

Day 9- What did I Do to Deserve You?

Beca wakes up on her own around 6:30 in the morning. She groans and rolls over before remembering yesterday, then she shoots out of bed and quickly strips before hopping in the shower.

She takes the quickest shower she's ever taken in her life- including the ten minute showers she used to take back in college when she was living in the Bella house and there never seemed to be any hot water. In nothing but her robe and a towel on her head, she goes to the kitchen and grabs a granola bar, munching on it as she makes a pot of coffee. After the coffee's started brewing and her granola bar is demolished, she makes her way back to her room, pulling on a pair of jeans and a Barden University hoodie that's two times too large for her- and that's because it's technically Chloe's, she just stole it from her.

After quickly running a hair brush through her hair and brushing her teeth (she decides against makeup, seeing as she's way too lazy at the moment), she grabs her wallet (just in case) and coat and exits the house, locking up behind her. To her shock, Emily pulls up in her driveway right as she turns around. "What are you doing here?" She asks Emily once she's out of the car.

"I was coming to take you to the hospital." She shrugs. "I had a feeling you'd be up."

"That's…" She trails off as she gets into the passenger side of the car. "That's sort of creepy, actually."

Emily simply laughs as she gets in on the driver's side. "Oh, here."

"How?" She asks when Emily hands her her phone, and she powers it on, frowning when she sees she has about ten missed texts from Theo. "Hold that thought, actually." She decides to call him instead of texting him back, because she's lazy.

"Where the hell did you go yesterday?" He asks harshly as soon as he answers, and Beca sighs, running a hand over her face.

"Chloe was in the hospital. Actually, she's still there, and I'm taking the day off."

"And you couldn't have told me this earlier?"

"Nope." She says, popping the 'p' at the end. "I left my phone in a friend's car and haven't seen it until now."

"You're a terrible employee, did you know that?"

She laughs at his broody attitude. "Technically, I'm not an employee. You don't pay me, so…"

"Fuck you."

"Sure you'd love to." She jokes, wishing she could see the look on his face right now.

"You know what, fine. Take the day off. But you better be at work tomorrow."

With a sarcastic smirk, she replies, "Ooh, sorry buddy. I promised Chloe's doctor that Chloe could come home with me after she gets discharged, meaning I'll be staying home to take care of her."

"But-"

"Oh relax, old man." She rolls her eyes, getting slightly annoyed at this point. "I haven't taken a day off in three years. I think two weeks will be fine."

"Fine." He huffs on the other end, also obviously annoyed with the situation. "I'll see you later then." He hangs up before Beca even has the chance to even think about responding, and she stares at the phone in shock for a second before sliding it in her pocket.

"What did he want? He didn't sound too happy." Emily says, and Beca chuckles humorlessly.

"No, he was not. He's not very ecstatic about me taking work off for Chloe."

"You do realize why, don't you?" She asks, and Beca gives her a confused look. "Oh come on, Beca! You don't know?"

"I don't know what?" She crosses her arms, and Emily laughs in surprise.

"Oh my stars." She shakes her head. "Theo's obviously in love with you. How have you not noticed?"

"No, he's not-" She sputters in shock and confusion, shaking her head at an almost frantic pace. "There's no way Theo is in love with me. No fucking way." As soon as she says it, though, she realizes it's not true. All the small looks, all of the times he's asked her to get coffee and lunch with him, all the times he put her above other celebrities… it's because he loves her. "Oh shit."

"Yeah!" Emily laughs, glancing at her briefly. "Why do you think Chloe hates him so much?" Before Beca can answer though, she says, "She was like, super jealous of you two. I remember her telling me all about it in France."

"Wait, what?" Beca's eyes widen. "You mean to tell me that you knew Chloe feels the way she does about me, and you never told me?"

"I mean…" She shrugs innocently. "Technically… I knew about your feelings for her and never told her, so isn't that the same thing, really?"

Unfortunately for Beca, she knows she can't argue with that. "True. Damn it, I hate when you're right." She slumps in her seat, pretending to be annoyed.

"I know." The younger woman laughs as they pull into the parking lot of the hospital. Immediately, Beca spots Stacie's car, and she tells Emily to park in the empty space next to it.

Once they're parked, they get out of the car and walk into the hospital. It's only then Beca remembers that Emily should be at work right now. "Why are you even here?"

"I'm going into work a little later than usual this morning, I just wanted to make sure you got here."

With a soft, warm smile, Beca softly asks, "What did I do to deserve you?"

Emily laughs, returning the smile. "You took me under my wing and made me feel important, that's what." Without warning, she wraps her arm around Beca's shoulders, and for once, the shorter brunette doesn't push her away; she simply relishes in the touch, finally realizing for the first time how truly amazing Emily Junk is, and how amazingly lucky she is to have her as a friend- no, as a sister. Emily's basically the younger sister she never had.

They walk the rest of the way to the lobby in silence, and they spot Stacie walking down one of the hallways with a clipboard shoved in her face. "Stace!" The doctor looks up and grins when she sees the two brunettes, and she sets the paperwork down in order to give them both brief hugs.

"You're here early." She comments, looking mostly at Beca, who shrugs nonchalantly.

"I have nothing else to do today." She admits.

"Ahh." Stacie laughs, then looks at Emily, who immediately stands a little straighter and bites her bottom lip. "I'm assuming you gave Beca a ride?"

"Yeah." She laughs awkwardly, and Beca decides to break the silence as Stacie gives Emily an odd look and Emily looks anywhere but at her.

"So, can we go see her?"

"Yeah." Stacie looks away, and Beca hears Emily let out a soft breath of relief. "Go ahead, I'll catch up with you later if I can. I'm currently swamped."

"It's fine, we understand. Right, Em?" Beca nudges the taller brunette, who quickly nods, then shoots Beca a small glare out of the corner of her eye.

"O...k." Stacie shakes her head slightly. "I'll see you two later, then." With that, she walks off, and Beca turns to give Emily an incredulous look as they start walking down the hallway toward Chloe's room.

"Dude, what the hell was that?"

"I don't know!" She says, her reply a mixture of yelling and screaming, and the ending result sounds similar to a very high-pitched voice crack. "I froze."

"Yeah, I could tell." She shakes her head, sighing right before she opens the door to Chloe's room. "She might be asleep, so shh." Emily simply nods, so she slowly turns the knob and opens the door. A smile instantly spreads across her face when she sees the redhead, looking peaceful in her slumber. "Hey Em?" She whispers, sitting in the chair she sat in last night and refraining from taking Chloe's hand in hers, for fear of waking her up.

"Yeah?" Emily whispers back, sitting on the floor next to Beca and leaning against the wall.

"Is it crazy that I already know I'm going to marry her?"

"Yes and no." Emily laughs softly. "Yes, because you haven't even officialized anything. No, because…" She trails off. "Have you ever heard the story of soulmates?"

"Uhhh…"

"Well," Emily continues, not giving Beca the chance to think about it. Instead of caring, though, she just shrugs and listens. "Legend has it, humans were made with two heads, four arms, and four legs."

"That sounds fucked up, dude." Beca furrows her eyebrows in confusion, already wondering where this story is going.

"Hey, no interrupting." She warns Beca, who pretends to zip her mouth closed. "Anyway, Zeus, the king of the Roman Gods, thought that the humans would take over in their forms, so he split all of them in half. It was then the person's mission in life to find their other half, and that was their soulmate, whether it was a platonic or romantic relationship. Most were romantic, though."

"So you're saying Chloe and I once shared a body?"

"Is that all you got from that?" Emily exclaims quietly, and Beca laughs.

"No, I'm fucking with you." The Legacy glares at her, so she stops laughing. "But seriously, you think Chloe and I are… soulmates?"

"I mean, maybe." She shrugs. "You two are obviously meant for each other. But what I think doesn't matter. It's what you and Chlo think."

"You're right." She says, chuckling. "That was a weird story, but thanks for telling me that."

"So… how are you going to do it?"

"Do what?"

"Ask Chloe to marry you, duh."

"Oh." Beca facepalms, shaking her head at her own idiocy. "I don't know yet, but I know that I will, for sure. I've waited ten years for her, I can't wait any longer. I just want to tell the whole world that she's mine forever."

"Be careful though." She warns. "Remember Chicago?"

Beca slumps back in the chair, shooting Emily a small glare. "Fuck. Thanks for reminding me." She grumbles, and Emily gives her an apologetic grimace.

"Sorry."

"No, really, thanks." She sighs and runs a hand down her face. "I'm thinking too far ahead. You're right, we don't even have anything officialized yet."

"You two need to figure that out."

"No duh." She deadpans, and Emily giggles. "When are you leaving to go to work, by the way?" At Beca's question, Emily gasps and pulls her phone out.

"Right now, actually." She stands back up and leans over to give Beca a hug, who returns it. "I'll see you later, though?"

"Yeah, sure."

"Let me know if anything happens." She says, and Beca nods before watching her walk out of the room and close the door behind her. Sighing, Beca walks over to the couch and lays down, figuring Stacie or Chloe will end up waking her up when need be.

"Beca." A soft voice wakes Beca up, and she quickly sits up to see Chloe smiling at her softly. "Hey."

"Hey." She walks over to Chloe and places a light kiss to her forehead before sitting in the chair. "How'd you sleep last night after I left?"

"Amazingly, actually." She says, her voice still a little husky from sleep. "What about you?"

"Off and on." She admits, smiling at the ginger. "But it's ok, it's not like I have anything important to do today."

"Hey!" She exclaims, giving Beca a playful glare. "Am I not important?"

"Well…" She taps her chin, pretending to think. In actuality, she's debating whether or not to make the joke that's on the tip of her tongue. In the end, though, she knows Chloe will laugh, so she decides to just go for it. "I can't technically do you yet, so…"

"Beca Mitchell!" She yells, but the grin on her face lets Beca know that she indeed took it as a joke, just as she knew she would. "You're terrible, did you know that?"

"Trust me, I know." She winks, lavishing in the way Chloe's cheeks turn a shade or two closer to the red part of the color spectrum.

"Come here so I can kiss you, you big idiot." She demands, and Beca happily does so, standing up and leaning over. Chloe gives her a small smile before grabbing her neck and pulling her down, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.

Once she pulls away, Beca mutters out loud for the first time in this context, "I love you, Chloe Beale." She grins as she watches the expressions changing on Chloe's face; happy to surprised to happy again.

"I love you too, Beca Mitchell." And suddenly, she's being pulled into a kiss unlike any other she's ever taken part of before. Chloe's mouth moves frantically against hers, and Beca presses as close to the redhead as she can without hurting her or herself. Chloe's tongue swipes across Beca's bottom lip, and they both moan lightly when their tongues make contact for the first time.

Naturally, this is the position Stacie walks in on them in, and she clears her throat to get their attention. Beca jumps, literally falling backward onto her ass, landing on the hard floor with a soft yelp of pain. "Chloe, I see you're awake. How are you feeling?" She ignores the singer, who flips her off as she stands back up and gingerly sits in the chair next to the bed.

"Amazing now that you made Beca fall, thanks." They both laugh, and Beca rolls her eyes, smiling fondly at the two women laughing at her. Truly, she can't be mad, when she gets to see Chloe's eyes light up like the way they are right now.

"I hate you guys." She jokes, pretending to be annoyed, and they both laugh again.

"You love me and you know it." Chloe says, and Beca opts for sticking her tongue out at her in response.

As Stacie checks the various machines in the room, she asks Beca, "Hey, what was Legacy's problem today?"

"Oh, um." She frowns, pretending not to know. "I dunno." Stacie narrows her eyes at her, but doesn't say anything, and Beca lets out the softest of sighs of relief when Stacie looks away.

"Alright Chloe, your vitals look good. Are you experiencing any pain?"

Shaking her head, the ginger says, "Not really."

"Not really, or no?"

"She said no, dude." Beca says, and Stacie rolls her eyes at her.

"Beca, let me do my job, ok? Do I tell you how to perform?" Beca simply shakes her head. "Yeah, didn't think so." She winks though, letting the singer know she's messing with her.

"No pain at all Stace, besides maybe Beca."

"What?!"

"Beca, you're a pain in the ass."

"Wow, bitch." She grumbles, and both Chloe and Stacie laugh.

"Alright, I'll check in on you later." Stacie promises, giving them both smiles before walking to the door. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do."

"Which is like, what? Nothing?" Beca jokes, and Stacie laughs again.

"True." With that, she exits the room, closing the door after her.

"Hey Chlo?" Beca hesitantly asks, thinking back to her and Emily's conversation earlier this morning.

"Yes, Becs?"

"I feel like this might be stupid." She laughs nervously, taking both of Chloe's hands in hers and looking her right in the eyes, "But I'm going to say it anyway, because we need to make this official and I can't stand waiting." With a deep breath, she says, "Will you be my girlfriend?"

Instead of the shocked look Beca had been expecting, Chloe smirks at her. "I literally thought you would never ask. Like, I thought you were too chicken-shit to ever say anything."

Rolling her eyes, she says, "So, is that a yes? Considering you just admitted to having thought about it before?"

With her smirk turning into a more genuine smile of happiness, Chloe nods and says, "Yes, you big idiot, it's a yes."

"Yes!" She squeals, immediately blushing at her own reaction. "I mean, cool. That's, uh, that's cool."

Chloe laughs. "You know I see right through you, right?"

"What?"

"You don't have to keep pretending to be a badass. I already know you're a total softie."

Indignantly, Beca puffs her chest out and says, "I am too a badass! I am the baddest of asses, I'll have you knowing."

The ginger raises a single eyebrow at the brunette, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "You're a weirdo."

"Yeah, but I'm your weirdo." Without warning, she stands up and nudges Chloe softly. "Scootch."

"Why?"

"Because I want to get in this bed with you, duh."

"Aren't we moving a little fast? You haven't even taken me on a proper date yet."

Blushing a little as she climbs into the bed, Beca scoffs. "Shut the fuck up, Beale."

"I love you too."

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

The rest of the day goes by pretty uneventfully, with Beca and Chloe alternating between playing games on Beca's phone, watching TV, and just talking. Oh, and kissing. Lots of kissing. So much kissing, actually, that Stacie threatened to kick Beca out of the hospital so Chloe "can get the fucking rest she needs."

Once it's about 8 pm, Beca figures she should probably get home and get a decent night's sleep. After kissing Chloe's forehead, she says, "I'll come by tomorrow, ok?"

"What about work?"

"I'm taking the rest of the year off to be with you. You're all that matters to me right now."

"What about signing Emily?" Her voice drops to a whisper, sending a pointed look at the songwriter, who's waiting for Beca by the door, playing with Jamie.

"I'll do it the first of January." She says. "Now, I really must go. I love you."

"Love you too." Beca presses one last kiss to her lips before her and Emily walk out of the building, calling a goodbye to Stacie as they pass her in the hallway.

"So…" Emily grins at them once they get in the car, the walk there having been pretty quiet. "How was today?"

"Well." Beca pretends to think as she helps Emily get her son into the back of the car. "I asked her to be my girlfriend, so…"

"Wait, seriously?" She squeals. "Oh my stars, the aca-gods have answered my prayers at last!"

"Calm down, dude." She laughs as they climb into their respective seats and pull out of the parking lot.

"I'm sorry, I've been rooting for you two since college."

"Really?" Beca asks, slightly amused.

"Oh, yeah. I had my heart set on you two being a thing. Benji and I used to joke that you two are the aca-moms of the Bellas."

"I hate that so much." She lies, even though she knows Emily knows she's lying. She doesn't call her out on it, though, which Beca's slightly grateful for. If she thinks about how much she misses her girls right now, she might cry, and that's the last thing she wants to do. Sure, she gets to see Chloe and Emily on a daily basis, and Stacie and Aubrey once every other week, but the others? She hardly ever gets to see them, and she'd trade almost anything right now to be able to perform with them again. She surprised herself by how much she grew to love those girls.

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Sure." Beca gives her a grateful smile, realizing she spent the whole ride home thinking about the Bellas, and not just Chloe, for once. "Hey, thanks again. For giving me the push I needed."

"Anytime." Emily smiles with a hint of sadness that Beca doesn't miss. With another glance at the time, though, she decides that conversation can wait until tomorrow. She gets out of the car and walks into the house, yawning as she takes her coat off and throws it on the floor. She knows it's a little early to go to bed, but she does so anyway, being too tired to stay up and actually do anything.
