Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail or its characters; that right belongs to Hiro Mashima. I do own the Original Character (OC) in this story, though.
Author's Note: The OCs name is Sionet, pronounced See-oh-neet. And I do not want her used by anyone, anywhere else. So if you do not like that, I politely ask you to turn around and leave now because I don't see the point in you wasting your time and mine.
The silence that now hung over the Guild as everyone watched the mini-ethereal version of Mard Geer was impressive. But what was causing the silence to become pregnant was the fact that the mini-version of a now Ex-Demon was in a staring contest with the Siren Sionet. Who was still standing with a fisted hand on her hip. It was amusing and horrifying all in one go.
"Yes, well, remember who is almost a thousand and who is whelp that never made it past the mid-twenties, brat," Sionet finally said, shattering the silence.
"It just means that you're an old lady," Mini-Mard Geer said, letting a smile curl his lips.
The air seemed to vibrate for a second around every last one of them before a soft laugh that brought the image of a warm summer breeze to mind rang out.
"I am, and I know you don't give a fuck, so enough with the witty, snarky banter; please," Sionet said with a slight roll of one shoulder.
"Fine. I will acquiesce to what you are wanting, Sionet. It is the least I can do for you as well as her," Mini-Mard Geer stated. "What is it that you want to know, Guild Master Laxus."
A grunt was all the response given as they watched Laxus step forward and look down at the little ethereal image that was sitting straight, one leg propped at the ankle over the other. Again they were struck with the slight differences from what they could remember Mard Geer looking like as a demon.
"First, thank you for deigning to talk to us. I appreciate it," Laxus stated solemnly.
Mard Geers chin's slight lift had his purple hair (More of a lavender color) slipping over his shoulder, while his pale skin shone almost like polished alabaster with an obvious pale green tint to it.
"You are most welcome," Mini-Mard Geer said. "But due note, I would prefer not to be out as it is spreading my magic a bit thin. And my magic is what is keeping Lucy alive right now."
"I will try to keep my questions short and to the point then," Laxus stated. "How are you keeping her alive?"
The way they all saw Mini-Mard's eyebrows jump up as he gave a pleased smile was almost comical.
"As Sionet has informed you, my father was an Old God called Viridios. A natural God meaning he could interact with the life force of living things," Mini-Mard said, his tone soft and full of fondness. "My mother, whom Sionet didn't explain, is the former spirit of the Andromeda Constellation. Her magic was all about chaining, binding etcetera. My magic is a merging of those two. So, I have saved Lucy by binding her soul to Limbo."
A collective gasp rose from everyone as it registered what was just said. It now made sense why Zeref would want Mard Geers soul to house one of his Etheros Demon's Bodies. A demi-god was not a joking matter. And the power he held and allowed to be put into a weapon to make a sentient weapon, it was on a whole other level of fucked up shit.
"Yes, a shocker, I am sure," Mini-Mard stated blandly. "Now, what else do you want to ask me?"
They watched as Laxus narrowed his eyes before speaking up, "Do you have your memories from when you were a Demon?"
This had Mini-Mard Geer jerking back and looking slightly affronted before he settled and let his face go blank. It was clear that he wasn't happy at that question.
"Yes, and I offer my apologies for the part that I played in the war that we brought upon Fiore," he stated. "Know that I didn't have room to defy Zeref with the spells he laid upon me. And that conceited wannabe God stoned me, was considered a defeat by Zeref. So, when I broke free, Zeref killed me himself and took the book of E.N.D. Or the book that contained his brother, Natsu's soul. Which I am guessing Lucy helped fix and free?"
It was a sore point having that openly stated. And a low, threatening growl came from Natsu; it was clear he was not amused by it. But the point was taken. Mard Geer would retaliate if his past poked at.
"I am grateful for the apology. I felt the need to ask because Lucy is your owner? or partner?" Laxus asked.
The small smile that curled Mard's lips spoke of happiness.
"Neither. Lucy had made it clear that she wants friendship, and I do so love the way her mind works," Mini-Mard stated simplistically. "Lucy is truly a smart woman. Talented to the point, she has done what most other Celestial mages could only dream of. Her magic demands she stay still, yet she taught herself to fight alongside them, to harness the Star Dress which requires roughly the same amount as... say a Dragon Slayers Roar attack."
This had the silence hanging in the air. There would be no denying the honesty Mard Geer was exhibiting as he spoke. The fondness that his voice held was just amazing. But learning that the amount of magic that Lucy was using to do what she did in battle was astounding. It gave a new appreciation for what she had accomplished as a mage.
Lucy wiped at her eyes and did her best to get herself under control. It was stressful learning all these truths when the knowledge that Celestial Mages gained had been altered. It was wrong for the lore to have been changed so that they were taught false things. And deep inside, she felt the fires of rage begin to burn with the anger that she was feeling.
Then it hit Lucy, a thought so powerful and profound. Things had to change, and so the wrongs could be corrected. She wasn't sure that she would be able to do anything at all. More-so with her magic being sealed away to the point that she was here in Limbo. But yeah, this whole thing was not right. The more Lucy thought about it, the more her rage began to grow as her anger turned into a giant wave crashing against the shore.
"Andromeda is there a way to speak to anyone from Limbo?" she asked, letting a dark smile curl her lips that would make Erza proud.
The woman stared at Lucy for a few seconds before slowly nodding her head. There was curiosity shimmering in the depths of her onyx eyes.
"Why? What are you thinking?" Andromeda asked.
Letting her smile get wider, Lucy leaned in and began to whisper to Andromeda, "I am thinking that I am done with the Bullshit that is going on. And as a Fairy Tail Mage, I will not sit here quietly waiting for my demise to come. No, I will fight and do what little I can to correct what is happening. Family is important. And because Mard Geer is now my partner and I hope Friend, you being his mother, you are now my family."
Leaning back, Lucy watched as hope flickered across the former-spirits face. Then slowly, a smile appeared, lighting up her face.
"You truly are a unique person, Lucy Heartfilia, just like your Ancestor, Anna," Andromeda said, her voice ringing with amusement.
"Thank you," Lucy replied. "I need to contact a friend of mine. She is a script mage and very intelligent. And I need to get her to talk to another in my Guild, then another Mage from a sister Guild, Sabertooth. Because this is going to need precision and research... And I hope that if they can do what I am wanting, it is time to wake up the Old Gods from their Slumber..."
Lucy enjoyed the way Andromeda's eyes became almost impossibly wide in her face. If the Celestial King wanted to play Dirty, he picked the wrong woman to do it with. Lucy was glad that her mother had always made sure she understood how her contracts worked with her spirits. And that there was more than just those contracts to bind people and places and things. That there were the old ways to be cherished. In the pursuit of her being a novelist, Lucy had done a lot of research on many things.
And she had always left a back-up copy of it with Levy, who was her beta reader. Oh, yes, it was time for her to play ball back. Besides, she had to seriously thank Mard Geer for what he was doing to keep her alive. In the time they'd been a duo, they'd come to an understanding of intellectuals.
A small current ran through all those gathered in that tiny little closed-off section of the Spirit realm. It was akin to a thrill, and it didn't come from any of them. As they all looked at each other, faint glimmers of hope shone in the depths of their eyes. None spoke up, knowing they were being monitored right now, and it would be detrimental to keep this quiet.
Whatever had caused this sensation to roll through them, they were silently sending their thanks. Because they all knew that once Lucy was fired up, there was no stopping her. A trait she had picked up from Natsu. And they knew where Lucy was, Limbo. A place they were sure that Andromeda was at since she had never reincarnated. Not even their King could keep a soul from reincarnating... that took the power of a God who had a hand in the realm of life and nature.
