...Open Playbook...
As much as Aurdel had wanted to capture the Yakuza going through their paths, he'd lost his chance. Because the CIA had both delayed him and gotten into a fight with him, the Yakuza had become aware of his presence and his investigation into them. And as such, they'd immediately gotten out of the area. And Aurdel knew that he would have gotten them, as when he went to check on the path that they would be going through he found the tunnels to have been remade and reshaped. It meant that Chisaki had passed through here and used his quirk. He silently cursed under his breath, damned CIA. He would certainly have to make a reprisal to ensure that there wouldn't be any further 'interventions' in the future. At least not all of it would be for naught. As it turns out, Midoriya has used the tracker that he'd given him. He'd only noticed it after he'd beaten up the CIA thugs, with the silent alarm triggering in his suit with a waypoint. And not wanting to go into whatever situation it was unprepared, he'd have to go find Midoriya and Mirio and ask them what had happened. He walked down the sidewalk and back in the direction of Nighteye's agency. No one paid him any mind as he walked, to them he was just another Hero. "Someone, help!" A voice shouted out of nowhere, Aurdel's head shot upwards in response. He searched around for its origin before charging down one of the opposing streets, moving carefully as not to trample over any of the civilians that we're running in the opposite direction. And when he got there he found himself standing in front of a bank, police sirens already sounding off in the distance. Gunshots were in the air as armed men stood on the steps of the bank, firing shots to ward away the dozens of civilians that were there.
"Crap, I didn't expect that a Hero would get here so fast!" One of the men shouted, wielding an AR-15 that had been chambered for different rounds than it usually was in. Aurdel ducked for cover behind a concrete barrier, bullets impacting on the slab in front of him and debris kicking up into the air. Aurdel pulled his Beretta out of his holster and peeks around the barrier, firing three shots that took the man down. One in the knee, the gut and the shoulder. The man fell and dropped his rifle to the ground. Aurdel charged out and brought his handgun to face the second man out on the steps.
"Damnit…!" The second man grunted, ducking behind a pillar at the front of the bank as a bullet entered his thigh. Aurdel went opposite of him, waiting for him to pop out. "You're screwed Hero, you hear me?! We outnumber you twenty to one!" Bluff or not, thoss weren't very good odds… For them. As the man popped his head out Aurdel put a round in his head, blowing straight through his eye and out the other side. That one fell dead.
"Come on!" A man inside of the bank said, "Set it up, set it up!" There was a stampede of footsteps inside of the bank, the sound of metal as well with the racking of bolts of weapons. Among them was a heavy caliber machine gun, most likely a fifty cal. He went to the first man who was injured and took the AR-15, grabbing the extra ammo. He went to the side of the bank main entrance and watched his motion tracker. There were about ten men in the main hall of the bank, presumably the rest were attempting to get the vault open and get the money inside. Looking through a window he was able to see some of the Villains. At the top of the main area was the machine gun. One man was on it, another supplied ammo. The remaining eight were scattered both nearby and below covering each angle of the entrance. None of them fired yet, they were waiting for him to come in. Aurdel turned up the audio output for the speakers on his helmet.
"Attention criminals. This is the pro-Hero Spartan. I am giving you the chance now to walk out of the bank and surrender. If you wish to keep your lives and bodies intact, I suggest you surrender. I assure you, I am not like other Heroes."
"Shit, it's that guy?!" One of the criminals said, pulling his gun away from where they pointed it at the door. "Guys, I think we should give this up. I don't know if this is a fight we can win."
"What the hell are you saying, give up now?!" Another man shouted, "We've been planning this score for months, we can't just give up now!"
"Yeah!" Another protested, "That piece of shit iced my buddy, I'm getting my revenge!"
"Well screw you guys, I'm getting out of here with my life intact!" The man who initially became weary tossed down his weapons, alongside two others who were concerned about their own safety. They ran from their positions and out of the bank, where their own comrades tried to fire on them. Aurdel jumped out of his cover and blocked the gunfire, dragging the Villains that had given up peacefully into cover.
"Now stay there, or you'll be going back with the rest of them in a body bag." Aurdel leapt back out with the AR in hand, quickly lining up a shot on the fifty cal that would cause him the most trouble. He fired off a burst of five rounds, soaring through the air before slamming into the box mag attached to the side of the weapon. The rest of the ammo went off in a chain reaction blowing up in the face of those who were maintaining the weapon. Afterwards he rolled into the building. There were only five left on the atrium but these ones weren't going to give up without a fight. A hail of bullets and literal fire struck the desk that he concealed himself behind, shredding through the wood that made it up and leaving smaller impacts on his shields. He popped out, this time with a reloaded Beretta in hand. Two of the five remaining targets were in the left, he went for them first.
"Screw this, I'm going to defend by the vault with the boss!" One of the other Villains said, the others following his lead. Aurdel opened fire and gunned down two of them, wounding a third who slammed on a panic button that triggered metal shutters to close behind them. It wouldn't be too much of an issue to deal with, but he wanted to make sure that the ones who had surrendered wouldn't try to get away. When he ran outside for a moment he founded the three sitting in the same place and position.
He tossed them a line of rope, "Tie yourselves up for the police."
"Y-yes sir!" The three men quickly responded turning around to tie up their hands. After that he went back into the bank. Putting a hand on the door he found that it was magnetically sealed to the ground, making it tougher than your average security door. Nothing he couldn't handle. He provided a short overcharge shock to the door, giving a temporary short circuit to the system and allowing him to wedge his hands underneath and pry it open. Once some of it was off the ground it became much easier to lift, with him drawing the entire thing back up and into the ceiling. With the door open he charged in, following the trail of blood from the injured man. Gun in hand he peered around the corner, a hail of bullets came his way and he ducked back.
"There's no way for you to come and get us, asshole!" One of the Villains shouted, "So give up on trying to catch us!"
"If you think that I'm the one in a bad position you're sorely mistaken. You're sitting inside of a bank vault that, while highly defensible, has no secondary exit. Your only way out is through me, and even if you somehow do manage that there will be a small army of policemen and Heroes outside waiting to take you down."
"W-We'll manage, you don't know what we got with us!"
"No, you won't," Aurdel pointed the AR around the corner and pulled down the trigger.
"Shit!" The men shouted, one of them was killed while the other bullets ricocheted around injuring others. And because they had to pull into cover it meant that he had his chance. He switched back to his handgun and charged down the hallway to the vault, using the lights on his helmet to blind anyone who came into his immediate path. He swung to his left, firing three times and hitting three confirmed kills. As the others opened fire in his general direction based on the direction of the sound of his weapon firing, he used one of the dead Villains as a bodyshield to take the bullets. Once they'd emptied their mags he threw their comrade back at them, putting enough force into it that he recognized he'd paralyzed one of the men just from that alone. He fired another six times, each of the bullets hit their mark. He looked around, the only one left alive in the room was the man who'd been paralyzed.
"F-fuck! You killed them all!"
Aurdel walked around, policing the ammo and weapons that were strewn about the vault. None of the money had been taken out of their boxes, he'd come down on them so fast that they hadn't been able to even grab any of it. "You all had your chance to surrender, you didn't take it," he picked up the injured back of the neck. "As for you specifically, you're under arrest." Aurdel dragged him out of the bank vault and into the main atrium where police were waiting, armed with automatic weapons directed towards the vault entrance.
"What's the situation?" The police chief asked, taking the VIllain from Aurdel's custody. The three others who had surrendered were already being taken away.
"Situation is dealt with, the robbers are disabled."
"Weren't you ever taught about the rules of engagement?" The police chief said to him, in an almost scolding manner.
"If I didn't follow them then I wouldn't have let him live," he said, obviously referring to the injured Villain. "You can handle the situation from here, I have business to attend to."
Aurdel walked through the rain and back to the door of Nighteye's agency. Through the glass he could see Mirio and Midoriya inside… Weren't they supposed to be on patrol? What were they doing paperwork? Just from their faces he could tell something bad had happened. He pushed the door open. "You two sure are back early, how did things go?" The two looked up at him.
"Not… Not as well as we would've wanted it to," Midoriya said.
"Sir decided that we should come back to help with some paperwork, we ran into something we didn't want to." He raised an eyebrow behind his helmet.
"Bush beating is for the media, what happened?"
"We ran into the Shie Hassaikai leader Chisaki."
"Is he the one that you put the tracker on?"
"No, he had a girl named Eri with him. She was the one that I put the tracker on." … "He said that she was his daughter, but she was completely fearful of him. I don't doubt that he abused her given the bandages that were on her arms and legs." …
"I'm going to slit that bastard's throat," Aurdel closed his fist.
"Huh?! What's with the sudden aggression?! I understand that he is abusing his daughter but I didn't think that you-"
"Midoriya, what did Nighteye tell you about the Shie Hassaikai?"
"Not much… I really only knew that Chisaki was their leader as a passing fact." Aurdel let out a sigh.
"I was working with Nighteye because the Shie Hassakai were beginning to present more of a threat, part of that threat was their involvement in the drug trade. On the day that you were taking your licensing exam I got a hold of samples of a new drug they were producing, one we figured out that destroys quirks." That revelation seemed to startle the two boys enough, but he wasn't done. "We also found out that the bullets had blood and living tissue inside of them, human blood and tissue. From a little girl." They realized what he was saying, and their faces morphed into that of pure horror and disgust. Midoriya's legs were shaking, so much so that he had to sit down or else he would have collapsed onto the floor. And Mirio, presumably the one who prevented them from taking her right then and there, felt the most guilty.
"How…? Why…?" Midoriya fumbles over his words, "What are we supposed to do?" His voice was little above a whisper, with very little energy in it.
"Despite how I or you may people about it, charging straight in there is not an option. I could easily deal with any thug that comes in my way, but more likely than not they'll have a few power players that could completely disable me. Chisaki alone presents a massive threat with his quirk."
"Then… We'll have to call in more Heroes."
"I don't doubt that Nighteye already has done that. More likely than not he did as soon as we discovered what the drug did." He considered possibilities, "Close quarters combat with him is essentially an impossibility unless we can get someone to disable his quirk, Eraserhead would work perfectly. Otherwise we're going to be forced to stick with ranged attacks and even then there is no guarantee he doesn't have that capability."
"We did put in a call for Eraserhead, among other Heroes across the country," Nighteye said, walking in with one of his sidekicks. "Although it was all for different reasons. I initially requested their help so Heroes who knew the areas that held Shie Hassakai hideouts could investigate them and reveal any possible locations that could maintain a facility for both extracting and producing the bullets. That has changed."
"Chisaki is going to find that tracker on her eventually. And when he does, he'll know that we'll be coming after him. He's going to pull back every resource he has to defend their main compound no matter what to cover him getting out of there."
"I'm afraid that I'm inclined to agree with your opinion on the matter. However we will not be going in unprepared, not by any means." Nighteye fixes his glasses, "All we will need is time to prepare."
...Enemy at the Gates...
Aurdel had mixed feelings about this attack in the Shie Hassakai compound. On one hand, he by no means wanted to let a little girl be held captive and tortured by a criminal organization. He had his own personal reasons for that. But on the other hand, he wasn't thrilled with some of the participants in the raid. "I still don't think it's a good idea for all of you to be here," Aurdel said with his arms folded, "Midoriya and Mirio I can understand at the very least, they have extremely strong feelings on this and would come anyways. But the rest of you coming here puts you all at risk."
"We can handle ourselves," Kirishima said, jerking a thumb towards himself, "Besides, if this guy really is as sick as you say he is then I want to make sure he gets put behind bars."
"That's right!" Uraraka said, "And if we're going to become better Heroes then we can't turn back just because it might be a little dangerous, the more we fight the more we improve!"
"Somehow I don't feel like that's all it is with you specifically."
"H-huh?! W-what do you mean?!" Uraraka said, her face turning a flush red. "I-I mean! I also don't want to see any of you get hurt, so that's why I'm coming!" He knew who she specifically wanted to protect, but he wouldn't embarrass her in front of the others.
"But again, if I tried to stop you now then it would without a doubt guarantee that you attempt to come along. So I won't stop you, even if my instincts say otherwise. Just stay within arms reach."
"Huh, that's just about what I was going to say to them," Eraserhead said, his voice a little tired. He pulled out a small bottle of eye drops and squeezed out a few onto his eye.
"Don't sweat it tough guy, there won't be anything to worry about for them," a man said, Hawks. Because of the drastic circumstances, Nighteye has felt the need to call upon the number one Hero in the country. Or at least, the Hero who was officially number one on the billboards. The feeling that Hawks really didn't seem to be number one material was mutual between both him and Nighteye, though Hawks certainly didn't act like he was unknowing of that. "Not while I'm here at least."
"You absolutely fill me with confidence," his voice was full of dry sarcasm, the response got a sly grin from Hawks. Tokoyami simply closed his eyes and shook his head, looking at the man he was doing his work study with.
"Attention everyone," the police chief said, all the idly chatting voices in front of the police station quieted down. "As of this morning, we have a warrant for the arrest of Kai Chisaki and the authority to search the property of the Shie Hassakai. This is likely the only time we will ever have the chance to do so. If we mess this up then there will be no further chances to arrest him or stop the production of his drug. Heroes with the Hawks, Nighteye and Fatgum agency will be at the front, Ryukyu's agency will be covering the rear with the other Heroes. Between you will be us, we will be in your care." The man looked at a watch on his wrist, "We have thirty minutes remaining before the operation will begin, I suggest that you make any final preparations in that time."
Aurdel looked to his gear, double checking everything that he had. He had his magnum, a beretta, several magazines for both weapons, two combat knives, several tear gas grenades courtesy of the police, handcuffs, his medical trauma kit, a frag grenade, rope, breaching charges and several flashbangs.
"Shouldn't you be going in non-lethally?" Eraserhead asked, raising an eyebrow at his choice of kit.
"I am going in non-lethally," he responded, pulling out a magazine for the beretta. "Stun rounds, handmade. If they don't knock you out with the first shot, then the second or third will. They're designed to cause as much physical pain as possible with minimal damage"
"That sounds like it'd be illegal…"
"Could be, but sometimes you have to break the small rules to enforce the big ones," Eraserhead held out a paper, Aurdel took it and looked it over. A list of all the known members of the Shie Hassakai and their registered quirks. Useful. With one last check of his gear he was ready. "Alright, let's do this."
...Enemy at the Gates...
"Police! We have a warrant out to search your property for drug production and distribution!" The police chief shouted, standing in front of the buzzer that sat next to the gate to the compound.
"Get back!" Aurdel shouted, dragging two officers out of the way. Midoriya and Eraserhead also made sure that the other officers weren't trampled over by the hulking man bursting through the gate.
"Police… This early in the morning…? The large Yakuza yawned. "What do you want?"
"Don't let him act! Take him down now!" He shouted. Ryukyu increased in size and into her dragon form, slamming the Yakuza into the ground.
"We'll hold him here!" Ryukyu said, "Get inside and find that girl!" Without a second thought he, Mirio and Midoriya were the first to enter the Yakuza complex. Inside the courtyard were a wide array of thugs, most scrambling to respond to their assault.
"Heroes?! Crap!" One of them shouted, raising his hand. The leaves off of a nearby bush began to shoot off as razor sharp blades.
"Shoot Style: Smash!" Midoriya brought his leg up, causing a large wave of air to be brought in contact with the needles and send them blowing back. Mirio went forward, phasing through one of the thugs and attacking him from behind. Aurdel grabbed a thug by the arm and twisted it around, spinning him then in front of him to act as a body shield as he opened fire with his Beretta. The stun rounds worked just as effectively as he'd said, taking down several Yakuza instantly and non-lethally. Once he'd emptied his mag he struck at the pressure points on the man he was using, causing him to fall unconscious. With the courtyard temporarily clear the other Heroes followed them into the home itself, taking out over a dozen thugs that were guarding the inside of the estate.
"How are we supposed to get to the basement?" Midoriya asked, "I don't see any doors that would lead downward."
"That's the point, they thrive by working behind what you don't expect." Aurdel stopped at an inlet on the right side wall, sitting there was a shrine. Normally it would be completely improper to disturb a shrine, but under these circumstances…
Aurdel slammed his fist through the wall, splinter wood, drywall and metal. With a charge from his shields he was able to trigger the hidden door to open and remove the false wall. Behind it had been three Yakuza waiting to ambush them, though his sudden attack against the wall had completely caught them off guard and had managed to knock all three of them out in a near domino effect. "Downstairs, as quick as you can!" Aurdel adjusted the output of his shields on the bottom of his boots, allowing him to effectively slide down the stairs af it was simply a downwards ramp. Being the first one down he was able to lead the way, entering the underground.
"Nighteye, I thought this path was supposed to be clear?! What kind of research did you do?!" Rock Lock asked aloud.
"A false wall, don't stop! Midoriya, Kirishima!"
"Got it! Smash!"
"Red Gauntlet!" The two boys smashed through the concrete wall that had been built in their path to impede their progress, it shattered from the combined force.
They all charged through. "Don't let them make the next move!" Nighteye said. No Yakuza thugs were in sight, they probably didn't expect them to get this far this quickly. That was when things began to change.
"Woah!" The walls, floor and ceiling of the basement began to completely shift, as if they were like waves upon a shore. But it wasn't like it was breaking apart and reforming, which meant that it wasn't Chisaki's quirk.
"Irinaka, he must be using a booster to amplify his quirk!" Aurdel quickly looked around, making a decision. "Mirio, you and me are going to make sure that Chisaki doesn't get away"
"Roger!" The blonde boy said, managing to steady himself among the shaky ground.
"Midoriya, Tokoyami, Kirishima, stay with them and keep the walls off their backs!"
"They won't get close!" Tokoyami said, unleashing Dark Shadow to hold the walls in place.
"Hawks, you better keep your word!" He shouted, before running forward with Mirio towards the end of the hallway where shifting walls continued to form in front of them.
"I already told you, don't worry!" Aurdel had to run ahead of Mirio given the conditions of the shifting walls, having to dive through and squeeze through ever decreasing sizes of holes as the walls attempted to close around and crush him. But he was determined, he wasn't going to let these guys escape. He physically busted his way through a concrete wall that he wasn't able to go nimbly through, scratching some of the paint on his armor and temporarily putting out his shields. But then there he was, Chisaki.
"Don't let that bastard get a move in!" Aurdel knew that Mirio would be able to attack from the side, and that's what he was counting on.
"So you're the new Hero…" Chisaki said, stopping and turning to have a glance at him. The man in the white robe next him also stopped. "You're strong, especially if you were able to get past Mimic. But I can't have you stopping my plans while they're so close to fruition." Aurdel was forced to stumble a bit as he became extremely dizzy for some reason, the effect of a quirk.
"Don't worry Overhaul," a man hanging from the ceiling with a bottle of beer in hand said, "We'll stop 'em here."
"That's right," a fourth man dressed in a black robe said. He raised a handgun, "The boss' plans will see the light of day, I myself have seen them." He fired several times at Aurdel, but he was able to avoid each shot despite the effects of the quirk he was under.
"How are you moving like that? You should be just as drunk as I am!" The man hanging from the ceiling exclaimed. Aurdel had dealt with far worse effects in training and in space, to him this was nothing.
"Perhaps it's through a quirk, one we don't know about." The man in the black robes said, "Let's find out." Aurdel remembered this guy from the list, he was a person that was able to make any person confess to anything that was asked. It was a strong ability for sure. But, it was useless if the person using it wasn't able to hear your response. Aurdel activated the soundproofing of his helmet and shut off the speakers, preventing any speech from being heard.
"I have two quirks available to me. The first is All For One, and grants me the ability to take quirks after making direct physical contact and actively making the choice to take them. The second is Flashbang, and acts as its name implies by producing large flashes of light from my palms. Neither quirk is my own." Nobody but Aurdel was able to hear what he said, it gave them no advantage. But it certainly gave himself something to think about.
"Not answering? But how?" The man in black robes was confused, "The other Hero, where-?" He couldn't finish it. Mirio phased through the floor behind them and rose up, attacking them.
"Ultimate Move: Phantom Menace!" With lightning quick moves the boy repeatedly punched them, there was quite literally no chance for them to fight back. Moments later Aurdel dealt them finishing blows, slamming them into the ground.
"How annoying," Chisaki said, "You're diseased but you don't even know it or refuse to acknowledge it." Mirio disappeared into the wall, Aurdel charged forward. "Fortunately I have the cure. I will rid this world of quirks and the Hero complex that they brought upon us, then things will go back to the natural order as they were meant to be!" Chisaki tore off his left glove, placing his hand on the floor. The concrete floor in front of him shattered into tiny pieces, before reforming into giant spikes coming Aurdel's way. Aurdel pulled out his Beretta and fired several rounds toward Chisaki, some of the spikes redirected themselves to block the stun rounds from hitting him. The remaining spikes came his way though. Aurdel smashed his leg through one of the concrete spikes, shattering it to pieces. He weaved around the others, using them like mobile platforms to bounce off of when they came into the right position. Mirio reappeared from the wall behind Chisaki, catching him by surprise. Nimbly avoiding Chisaki's hands he slammed his fist into the Yakuza boss' face, throwing him back. Mirio then phased through, avoiding kicking Eri and instead slamming his foot into Chrono. The girl was released from the man's hands and fell into Mirio's.
Chisaki managed to stand back up, swiping towards Mirio. But the boy moved back with Eri in hand. His eyes were filled with absolute rage, spots appearing in his face. "Give her back! Someone like you wouldn't know what to do with a valuable asset like her."
"How can you say such a vile thing about your daughter?!" Mirio shouted back.
"Oh right, I told you that when you found me," Chisaki slid the second glove off of his hands. "I have no daughter." He slammed his palm onto the ground, it broke around them. The walls and floor shifted around all of them, changing the small and confining hallways into a large open space. Pipes and wiring were torn out of their places from under the houses of the neighborhood, coming loose and being strewn about. "There will be nowhere for you to run Heroes. The entrances and exits are gone, and if you try to phase through the wall you'll leave the girl here. You have no choice but to-"
"Who said we were going to run?" Aurdel shot back, then literally. He used the Beretta and fired off a full magazine at Chisaki. The man rose spikes from the ground to block the bullets he fired, taking them all.
"The justice you try to uphold in front of you is tiny, you can't grasp what truly should be done!" Chisaki shouted, spikes plummeting towards them from nearly every direction. Mirio moved around, using his quirks to avoid the spikes themselves while holding Eri out of reach. Aurdel crashed through the spikes he could, avoiding others. Waves of rubble came down, Chisaki raised and lowered parts of the floor. "Chrono!"
"Watch out!" Aurdel shoved Mirio out of the way, the quirk erasing billet bounced off of his armor and off to the side.
"How can you still move so quickly?" Chrono asked, "Sloshed should still be having a lingering effect on you."
"I've dealt with far worse!" Mirio said. He looked at Aurdel, then gave him a wink. He knew what he was going to do. Mirio threw his cape up into the air, concealing himself and Eri. Aurdel rushed over and caught both Eri and the cape as Mirio phased through the ground, unseen by the Yakuza.
"Don't worry, I've got you," he soothingly said to the young girl who clung to his armor. It reminded him of a time years ago, where he'd done and said something quite similar…
"Power!" Mirio sprung up from the ground, "If you had the chance to use your quirk it would be quite a problem, so I'm going to take you out of this fight!" Mirio slammed into Chrono, dealing him a heavy blow to the head that threw him off to the side and partially uncovered the face behind the mask. "Chisaki!"
"Don't call me by the name I've thrown away, I'm Overhaul!" The Yakuza shouted at the top of his lungs. Jagged spikes came from every direction, the roof and floor coming down on them. "The state that I take Eri back in doesn't matter, I'm the only one that can have her and heal her! You don't have that luxury!" The fight raged on, as the world collapsed around them.
