So snakes. Well only a very few of them have domesticated in my story. Mostly the bigger breeds. Also, don't forget(not trying to be mean) but animals have evolved to the levels of humans. In my story, some snake species have evolved to have better eyesight. They have evolved to allow themselves to move with clothes and stuff. If you want a good example, look at the Rick and Morty episode: Rattlestar Ricklactaca. And technically since their *ahem* parts are retractable and don't even go into a sheath, like most animals, they don't really need pants.

Sharks I can see what you mean, but octopi are actually pretty smart, almost as smart as dolphins in fact.

Chapter 6

Training

Day 1

"Alright, Nick... BARK." Luca said.

Nick opened his mouth and barked. Nothing happened. He felt so stupid, standing there and barking like a savage animal.

"Hmmm." Luca rubbed his chin. He snapped his fingers. He walked over to Judy and whispered in her ear. She nodded. Luca pulled back his fist and punched her in the gut.

Judy fell to the ground. He knelt and grabbed her shirt. He raised his fist to punch again.

Nick felt his throat expand, and he barked again. This time, a solid wall of sound came out of his mouth. It slammed into Luca and sent him into the brick wall surrounding the castle. Luca fell to the ground and Nick rushed over to Judy.

"Judy, are you okay?!" But Judy didn't even answer him. She stood up and headed over to Luca to help him up.

"Jeez, Nick, are you trying to kill him?" She asked. Nick was confused.

Luca has a rib sticking out of his stomach. He looked up and Nick screamed. His face was a bloody mess. Blood dripped out of his mouth and out of his ears. The skin had been torn around his cheeks, exposing flesh. His muzzle was in a zig-zag. But he was smiling. At least, Nick thought he was smiling.

"Kinda wish I had been a vampire while I did that.. OW" He coughed up some blood. Judy helped him into a sitting position against the wall. Luca took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Slowly his wounds started to heal. His flesh and fur regrew. His muzzle straightened. The rib sticking out of his side began moving back into pace. The skin around it coagulated, scabbed, puckered, and regenerated. In a few seconds, Luca was back to normal. But he didn't open his eyes. Nick was about to assume the worst when the lynx started snoring. Nick breathed a sigh of relief.

"My, my, you did quite a number on him." Nick turned to see Alina standing there, trying to hold in her laughter.

"Does this happen often?" Judy asked.

"We'll even new vampires have great strength... and this includes children. So sometimes when Crodut was little, he would try to wrestle with his father. Once he sent Luca into the side of the car, which promptly exploded." Alina said, walking over to her husband and picking him up, bridal style. His tongue lolled out of his mouth and he continued snoring.

"The worse the injury, the longer it takes him to wake up. When that car exploded, he was out cold for at least 6 hours. He should wake up in about an hour though."

"But how did he survive an actual explosion?" Nick asked.

"Well, as long as he can retain concsoiunes long enough to start the healing process he'll be fine. It was a close one though, as both of his legs and arms had been blown off." She said this with absouloute seriousness.

"He's always been good at healing himself, better than others that's for sure. It just tires him out. Well, I better go put him to bed. He'll continue your training tomorrow. Goodnight!" With that she spun around and took Luca into the house.

Day 5

Luca went flying into the wall again. This time, of course, he was a vampire, so he just looked a little dusty. Nick still was having trouble using his... ugh he hated the name Luca and Crodut had given it. Super Bark. He could think of so many better names but they wouldn't budge. As of right now, the only thing able to trigger it was sharp quick explosions of emotion. Wether it be anger, like on day one, sadness, like when Judy said she wanted a divorce. He had hated that one. Surprise, like when they had decided to scare him with a clown (he had heard stories about the clown suit they liked to use a lot, but he could never find out who was inside). Happyness also caused it, like when Judy told him many, many private things she wanted to do with him.

Today had been the first time he was able to do it unprovoked.

Day 10

Nick almost had the bark down now. Even the name was starting to grow on him. Finally, they started testing how strong the bark could be. At one point, he barked, and the windows on the Lynxus exploded. Luca decided to record it so Nic could see what he looked like, and he had to admit, he was pleased. First, he looked pretty cool standing, barking, and seeing a blue shimmering wave that the sensitive camera picked up as it smashed into Luca.

Then, they called Simon about it, and he started to get into the science of it. Nicks sound had to be at around 250 decibles to create the effect of a sound so thick and loud, it could litterly cause a full grown lynx to be thrown like a ragdoll. 200 decibles was already pretty much death, so the fact that Luca had survived it when he wasn't a vampire astonished him. Simon couldn't explain, however, how the bulk of the sound only traveled in one direction. At 250 decibles, the sound should have been loud enough to have been heard 20 miles in every direction.

Nick now could now use his Super Bark on command. Luca was extremely pleased with the progress they had made. Luca sat down at his desk in the study. The raw power these two vampires had astonished him. They had only been vampires for a 3 months, but they were already showing the strength and power someone who had been a vampire for almost 20 years. And Luca could almost feel their strength increasing with each day. Something was just different about them.

Could it be there love? He thought suddenly. Seem as it may, Nick and Judy were the first vampires he knew that were in love before they were vampires, and that one of them had been turned into a vampire by the one they loved. Luca thought back to his youth. He had been born a vampire, not turned into one. Very few vampires were created anymore. Alina had been turned into a vampire, because a vampire had attacked her. The vampire had been trying to drink her blood, but Luca had stopped him. The vampire didn't finish, so Alina was turned into a vampire herself instead of a lifeless husk. He had not been the one to turn Alina into a vampire. His father and mother were the same way. They had both been born vampires.

Luca also though about how Judy had become a vampire. It was certainly in a new way. According to legend, the first vampire had been created when a wizard had added blood into a concoction meant to increase strength, speed, etc. WHen the potion was drank, it gave the desired speed and strength, but it also gave the drinker fangs and a taste for blood. Judy however, had been bitten by a vampire bat, infected with some sort of serum. Near as he could tell, the way the serum had been engineered and administered had caused Judy to become a vampire. If had not been a vampire bat, it probably wouldn't have worked. Vampire bats did drink blood, and as they saying went, legends are always rooted in truth. Luca had a feeling that Nick and Judy were going to change the lives of vampires for thousands of years to come.
