CHAPTER 20 - Mistakes
That night, the girls and Shikamaru snuck out the dorm rooms, making their way to the locker rooms within the gym.
"Was it really necessary to go out and do this at almost midnight?" He yawned, "I'm exhausted."
Ino lightly smacked him on the head. "Oh, shut up!" She told him. "Plus, ain't it cute we're all in black clothes? Reminds me like I'm in some sort of action movie or-or-"
"Alright, I'm going in now!" Ten Ten whispered as Hinata held out a flashlight. All of a sudden, they heard footsteps nearby, in which Hinata would shut off the lights immediately and the group all ran into the double doors of the gym at once.
"Who's there?!" A security guard would shout out, in which he flashed his own light towards the hallway of the gym. On the other hand, the gang had already made it inside, where they all rushed to the locker rooms and Hinata would turn on the switch of the lights in place of the flashlight, however the lights wouldn't turn on. She then would turn on the flashlight again.
Sakura began to catch her breath, placing her hands on her knees. "Phew! That was close." She would then approach the water fountain inside the locker room, taking sips from the stream of water.
Ino placed a hand on her chest, also catching her breath. "Tell me about it, I had to hold in a scream."
"Well good thing you did." Shikamaru commented, in which he turned to Sakura. "The letter?"
She then stood up from the fountain. "Oh, right!" She grabbed the letter from her pocket, "Hinata, give me some light over here."
Hinata nodded, pointing the light towards the row of lockers Sakura scanned through. As Sakura approached a certain locker, she would insert the note inside one of the little spaces. "Alright! Let's get out of here!"
The next morning, some good news had finally came. Temari and the rest of the girls had made the volleyball team! In which Temari would squeal, texting the rest of the girls in complete excitement. She had gotten dressed, packed up her school bag AND volleyball bag, and walked out the door. She had definitely manifested that it was going to be a great day.
Opening her room, she knocked on both of her brothers rooms, quite roughly in which caused them to open with a sense of panic.
"Temari? You alright?" Gaara asked.
Kankuro, with an even more nervous expression, practically screamed. "TEMARI? WHAT'S WRONG?"
Temari span. "I made the volleyball team!"
Kankuro yawned. "Oh, is that it?" He asked, in which he received a smack upon the forehead.
Gaara smiled a bit. "Great job."
"Yeah, yeah." The middle child said. "Gaara, Kiba is going to pick us up so we don't need to wait for Baki." He would turn to Temari. "You want to come?"
The eldest child shrugged. "Might as well. See you guys downstairs." She would then approach the bathrooms, locking the door behind her.
"Damn it!" Kankuro exclaimed, doing the potty dance.
"Wow." Ten Ten said to herself as she zoomed and viewed in on the email Gai Sensei sent out with the names of the new volleyball members. "We actually did it."
Hinata walked out from the closet, smiling. "I-I'm quite happy we all got in."
"Same here!" Ino said in pure excitement. "Maybe I can finally grow an ass like Temari's!"
Sakura snickered to herself, texting away on her phone. "With that ass as flat as yours, I doubt."
"WHAT DID YOU SAY BILLBOARD BROW?!" Ino leaned in towards her.
Sakura would do the same. "YOU HEARD ME, INO-PIG."
As the two began to insult each other, a knock on the door then happened. "I'm coming in." said a voice, in which Shikamaru would let himself enter the room.
"Hey," Ten Ten sat up from her chair. "We got into volleyball! Now we can double check if Tayuya got the letter later today."
Shikamaru smiled. "Really? That's awesome. So when you guys open the locker again and see it's empty, let me know."
"Right!" Ten Ten exclaimed, raising a thumbs-up.
The three siblings made it down to the lobby, exiting the building through the glass doors push doors that separated the building from the outside. Kankuro scanned for Kiba's car, in which he successfully found. However, on the way of about to walk to Kiba's car, Temari noticed an extremely lavish car parked in the lot. She paused in her footsteps, attempting to look through the windows, however they were tinted extremely dim. As the driver noticed her searching, he lowered the window, in which Sasori would appear in the driver's seat.
"H-Hey! Temari!" He greeted, smiling sweetly as usually at her.
Temari was happy to see him. "Hey, Sasori! Good morning. Uhm, can I ask why you're here?"
Sasori continued to smile, not wanting to seem awkward. After all, he did just show up without any notice. "Oh, I thought we were going to pretend to be dating. S-So I thought it would be a good idea to show up to school together?"
Temari smiled. Looking back at Kiba's car, in which she waved a hand to signal them to go on without her. She looked back at Sasori. "Sure. I'd like that a lot."
Sasori would then push a button. "Just step back a bit, Temari." She obliged, in which she saw the car doors open unusually; the doors lifted itself up, sliding upwards. Temari was very amused. She sat carefully into the seat, not wanting to damage the luxurious interior or exterior of the car. She bent over slowly to lay her bags on her feet. The car doors then slid back down.
"Oh, don't worry about that, Temari. I can put your things in the back for you." Sasori suggested.
Temari waved her hands out, not wanting to be a fuss. "O-Oh, no, no. It's alright, Sasori. School is only a fifteen minute drive from here anyway, I can manage."
"Nonsense," Sasori said. He would reach over for Temari's stuff, placing them into the bag seat gently. He smiles over to her. "See? All better right? And let me know if your seat is too far up or far back."
"Oh, okay." Temari smiled back as well, putting on her seatbelt. Sasori took out a pair of sunglasses from the pocket of his hoodie, putting them on as he then began to drive off.
Shikamaru stood in front of the main gate of the school, he leaned back and quietly smoked by himself. As the crowds of students began to emerge, Shikamaru put his e-cig back into his pocket, and began to mind his business until he looked beyond the incoming crowd of students and saw something that immediately made his jaw drop.
Temari and Sasori were holding hands as they got out of his car.
Shikamaru quickly ran behind a pillar of the building, grabbing his phone as he quickly went into his contact list to dial Ten Ten. "Pick up.. pick up..."
Ten Ten, on the other hand, was already in Ebisu Sensai's class, in which he was very strict on his students' whereabouts. She picked up the call, breaking a conversation off with a friend in her class. "Hello? Shikamaru what's up?"
"We need to get that note out of that locker." He demanded.
Ten Ten with widened eyes, questioned him. "What? Why?"
"Because." Shikamaru gulped. "I saw her holding hands with Sasori."
"WHAT?" Ten Ten said out loud, causing a few heads to turn at her. "Sorry." She apologized before whispering back into her phone. "What the hell do you mean they were holding hands? And why does that mean we have to get rid of the letter?"
Shikamaru turned a bit behind the pillar, seeing Temari and Sasori approaching doors of the school. "W-Well if she thinks that she can just get with someone else after her and I's situation wasn't exactly over, it proves she doesn't give a fuck! And therefore then I should be able to date Tayuya again!" He cried out into the phone.
Ten Ten rolled her eyes, sighing. "Damn it, Shikamaru." She would sigh. "This is childish shit! I thought you two would be more mature about this!"
"Well she started it!" Shikamaru told her, a sentence he never thought he would say.
"Point proven." Ten Ten commented, sighing again. "Hinata has gym. I'll tell her to take it out."
"Good, talk later." Shikamaru said before hanging up.
Temari and Sasori held hands until they were about to go up the main stairwell. Temari then realized she still had her volleyball bag slung in front of her. "Oh shoot! Sasori, I'll see you later. I have to go put this in the girl's locker room."
Sasori smiled as usual. "No worries. See you later."
As he walked away, Temari stared behind him. 'Nice kid.' She thought to herself before walking to the gym.
Hinata had received the call from Ten Ten, in which she questioned as well but obliged nonetheless. She jogged to the girls locker room, lifting the latch to Tayuya's locker, seeing the letter gone. She bit her lip in panic, turning to all directions among her before grabbing her phone to text Ten Ten that the letter was gone. Mid-way through her message, Temari had walked into the locker room. The girls made suspicious eye contact.
"H-Hey, Hinata." Temari greeted her, smiling.
Hinata bowed slightly. "H-H-Hi, Temari."
Temari continued to smile, however admitting to herself that Hinata was being weirder than usual. She then opened her locker, about to put her bag inside until a folded piece of paper was found on the high small shelf compartment. "What's this?" She thought out loud, in which she opened the letter to read its contents. On the other hand, Hinata was too late to even move a muscle to distract her from the letter. The navy-haired girl would bit her fingernails in panic as Temari scanned the letter with a serious expression.
'Oh no!' Hinata thought to herself.
