Chapter 9: Evac and Escape

Kypo and Drersius clash, both parrying and dodging eachother's blows. Drersius strikes the ground but Kypo dodges and runs up Drersius's arm and kicks him in the face. Drersius's broad strikes are no match for Kypo's disciplined agile ones.

"Surrender Drersius, you cannot win!" shouts Kypo.

"You blind yourself, Sangheili" retaliates Drersius.

Suddenly Drersius pulls out his Gravity Hammer and strikes the ground near Kypo, as he flies through the air Drersius slashes him on the chest and he drops his sword.

"NO!" I shout .

Drersius stands over him, about to finish him off with a stab.

I rush toward Kypo, grabbing his sword, I ignite it and parry Drersius's strike.

"You dare human!"

"Oh I dare alright, I'm done losing friends to you."

I slice at Drersius, he barely dodges it because of my more agile and fast style. I may be swifter, but I am still a beginner, Drersius exploits this flipping my sword with his own and getting a shallow strike on my side

"AAAUUGH!"

"You are weak, human."

He knocks my sword away and grabs my throat.

"I remember you now, I killed your pitiful defence when I landed here. Now you will join your comrades."

He lifts me up and prepares a stab

"Any last words?"

"Yeah, this one's for Sarge!" I shout as I stab him in the gut with my Spiker. He drops me and I grab his sword.

"This one's for Marcus!" I shout as I slash him across the chest.

I raise the sword ready to strike.

"Nowhere left to run. Now die!" I shout as I slash his head clean off his shoulders, his body falling to the side.

I ran to Kypo.

"Get up, you still got life in you."

"You-You slayed a Chieftain, that is a high honor."

"Honor later fighting now."

He picks up his sword as I brandish mine and we charge in, cutting down Brutes left and right, our allies revitalized by the slaying of the enemy leader. And soon after, the dust cleared and all that still stood where us.

I hand Drersius's sword to Kypo

"This is probably better with you."

"No Phineas, you slew him, you have gained the honor to wield that blade, for you are now Phineas Adams, slayer of Chieftain Drersius."

Sector 1, New Mombasa, Kenya, October 22 2552, 1420 hours

Finally we arrived at the Covenant evac zone, the Elites there were surprised by the number of us, and even more of me helping them. I followed Kypo to a Elite in red armor

"Fieldmaster Gryza 'Tuzumee, I am Sangheili ultra Kypo 'Zadamee, and this is my friend, officer Phineas Adams, slayer of Chieftain Drersius."

"It is a pleasure to meet you Phineas, I thank you for helping my brothers to safety."

"It was no problem sir."

"What will you do now?"asked Kypo

"I'm going to look for any UNSC forces I can find so I can get out of here."

"I wish you luck Phineas."

"Hey Kypo, take this." I hand Kypo the egg carton, the pan and a note.

"What is this?" he asks inspecting the note

"That's my scrambled egg recipe, follow the instructions carefully."

Kypo looks at the gift, he smiles and looks back at me.

"Thank you my friend, for everything."

"May our paths cross again."

And with that I departed. Beam Rifle on my back, and Energy Sword at my hip.

Sector 0-5, New Mombasa, Kenya, October 23 2552, 0600 hours

I was driving the Warthog towards a UNSC encampment. They were surprised to see a NMPD car this far out.

"Sir, Phineas Adams, NMPD officer reporting sir!"

"At ease officer Adams, I'm ODST Sergeant Stacker, it's nice to meet you."

"Likewise sir, I know it's a bit abrupt, but I'd like to enlist in the Marines sir!"

"Ballsy ain't ya! Ok kid, your initiation begins now."
