Episode 1-21 Politics

Episode Summary: A Senator in charge of the budget comes to see what the SGC spends so much money on. He has already decided however, that the gate should be shut down for good.

"I must insist General Hammond." Teal'c said, sitting in Hammond's office.

"I'm sorry Teal'c, orders from the president were clear. No gate activity. The other SG teams have returned. We are not to activate the Stargate again."

"General Hammond, is it the purpose of your president to keep me on this planet against my will?"

"Teal'c… You have to understand. You have learned a lot about our planet, about our defensive capabilities, about the SGC, how we operate the gate, how the iris works. The president is not comfortable releasing that kind of information. Especially since you are already a wanted man."

"General Hammond, I would die before revealing any information about your planet to the enemy. You must believe that."

"I do, Teal'c. But it's not my call. I'm under orders from the president."

"I see." Teal'c said gravely and stood up from his chair. "May I be dismissed, General?"

"Yes, Teal'c." Hammond said sadly.

Teal'c made his way to Daniel Jackson's lab. The rest of SG-1 was already assembled there.

"How'd it go, Teal'c?" O'Neill immediately asked.

"Not well O'Neill." Teal'c said as he folded his hands behind his back and stood tall.

"Hammond still giving you the president line?"

"He says he is under orders from your president not to activate the Stargate."

"That's not fair. They can't keep you here against your will." Carter spoke up.

"But there are those in our government who would have no problem doing just that." Daniel elaborated.

"Maybourne." O'Neill said, disgusted.

"That may be a factor in the presidents decision. We haven't gained any advanced technology from the gate program, but they have an enemy alien right here with no escape." Daniel added.

"We won't let that happen Teal'c." Carter said immediately. "You will get home. You have my word."

"Thank you, Captain Carter." Teal'c bowed his head.

"We all need to get off world."

"Daniel." O'Neill whined.

"No Jack, I'm serious. We need to go to that planet. We need to investigate. The people in that reality gave their last breaths to help me get through the gate and warn our leaders. We can't just do nothing."

"It's not like we didn't try, didn't share what you learned." Carter admitted.

"We need to make them understand. Make them see the threat. I saw it. I saw them blowing up cities. I saw them land on the mountain; I saw them invade the SGC. They made it all the way to the control room before I got through the gate. For all I know they figured out a way to shut off the self-destruct."

"Daniel." O'Neill said in an even tone, trying to calm his friend down.

"Jack, they are coming. And we know about it. We can do something. Now. Before they get here."

O'Neill wiped his hands down his face. "I can't listen to this anymore. Come on Teal'c." O'Neill nodded his head towards the door and left.

Teal'c bowed to his fellow team members before leaving the room as well.
