I do not own the PJO characters.
I woke up the previous morning, once again to Jamie's annoying alarm clock. I got dressed and brushed my teeth, I then woke Coral up and helped her get ready for the morning.
Augh, I hate the mornings, I thought as I walked out of the cabin and into the morning sunlight. "We should probably get heading to the pavilion soon," Jamie said as he walked out behind me.
"Why? The bell hasn't rung yet," I said as I watched him fix the sleave of his shirt.
"I overheard someone saying that we're having pancakes for breakfast, so I wanted to get there early."
"Knowing everyone here, they're already there," I said with a small laugh.
We got to the pavilion, and just as I thought, most campers were already there waiting for breakfast to be served. "Told ya," I said as I took Coral's hand and walked over to where Percy was.
"Hey, are we still on for a quick practice around of sparing later today?" I asked as I stood in front of him as he sat at his table.
"You bet!" He said excitingly with a smile on his face.
"Wait, you said that we would Rachel today," Annabeth said as she sat down beside him, "Well, maybe you could get one round in before Rachel needs help, but you have to make it quick."
An excited expression grew on my face, "Wait, Rachel Elizabeth Dare!" I said.
"Yeah, why?" Percy said confusingly.
"Because Rachel's the best!" I said leaning on the table.
"H-how did you-" was all Percy was able to get out before Annabeth interrupted him.
"She read the books remember you idiot."
"Oh, well I guess I'm still not used to there being books about us," Percy said rubbing his neck.
"They've been out since 2005, how aren't you used to it by now?" I asked. Percy just shrugged.
Just then the breakfast bell rung, and everyone started pushing and shoving towards to food. I waited until the crowd of people died down to get Coral and I's food, there was still plenty of pancakes left so I didn't really see why people needed to rush. Apparently, Annabeth understood as well, because she too waited until there was barely anyone in line to finally get up out of her seat next to Percy, and get her food.
After breakfast, I took Coral over to where Katie and Travis were talking. "Hey," I said as I walked up to them, "I was wondering if you could watch after Coral for a little while, Percy and I were going to practice some sparring. Plus, Coral seems to really like hanging out with you guys."
"Sure," Katie said as Travis bent down to pick Coral up.
"Come here you little squirt," Travis said as he once again put Coral on his shoulders.
"Hey what did I tell you about putting her on your shoulders," Katie said as she looked up at Coral who was now giggling.
"But she likes it," Travis responded looking up at the little girl.
"I think its fine, Katie, he's not harming anyone," I said laughing.
"Fine, as long as you think its okay, but I still don't think its safe."
"Well, thank you for looking after her," I said as I began to walk away.
"No problemo," Travis said as he and Katie walked away. I just smile to myself, as I ran to the arena.
I arrived at the arena, to see Percy ready with Riptide out and just a chest plate on. "So," He said, "you ready to test out your new sword."
I just smiled and pulled the pedant off of the chain and it turned into a sword, the sun gleaming against its blade. I griped the hilt as I stepped up to Percy, I readied the weapon.
"Okay, since you haven't had that much training, I'm going to go easy on you for the first round."
"Whatever you say… Waterboy," I said as I cracked a smile.
Percy swung first, which I blocked with ease. He swung again, this time catching my arm, but of course I'm mortal so it just went through me. This time I swung at him but he side stepped, I swung again at a different angle which he also side stepped. This went on for a few minutes until I was finally able to hit his arm, which left a small cut. It wasn't much, but at least it was something. After a few more minutes I was starting to get tired, mt shoulder hurt from blocking Percy's attacks, and my sword felt heavy in my hands.
Soon enough Percy was able to knock me to the ground, knock my sword out of my hands and put the point of Riptide's blade at my throat. "Nice for only having one day of training," Percy said as he tried to help me up. I looked at his outstretched hand, ignored it and helped myself up.
"Sorry, I forgot about how you don't like to be touched," He said rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.
"Its fine," I said as I pulled my sword towards me and into my hand.
I then heard some clapping coming from behind me, I turned around to see Annabeth and Rachel. Rachel started eyeing me up and said, "Hmm, so this is the new girl you told me about."
"Uh, yeah, I'm new. My name is Trish Sutton."
Rachel stuck her hand in her pocket which was covered in paint, "Nice to meet you Trish, I'm Rachel."
"I know, I read the PJO books," I said with a smile.
Rachel's face lit up, "you've read them too, I love those books!"
"Wait you've read them," Percy said as he walked from behind me.
"Yeah, Rick Riordan's books are the best," she exclaimed with a huge smile, "It's nice to know that he was a fellow oracle."
"So, Rachel, what did you want our help with?"
"Weeell… My dad finally let me stay here at camp!"
"Really!" Percy yelled.
"That's awesome Rachel," Annabeth remarked.
"Yeah, so I'm going to need your guys' help with getting situated."
"Ooh, can I help?" I asked.
"Sure, why not, the more the merrier," Rachel said as her and Annabeth started walking out of the arena. I put my sword away and ran after them.
Thanks for reading! So I want your guys' opinion, so I wanted to give Trish's sword a name, kind of like how Percy has Riptide, and how Piper has Katoptris. So if you guys have any suggestions for a name, put them in the reviews.
