"You know what confuses me?", Danny asked. "When Blaze sprayed the powder in Jamie´s face, he risked getting infected himself. Or didn´t he?" He looked at Baez, who looked back in confusion. "Look.", he said. "What if he knew that he wasn´t in danger? What if he was save? There could be an antidote!" Baez understood. "So you think he has some kind of vaccine?" "Exactly!" "But where? Maybe in his apartment?" Danny gave it a thought. "No, the apartment was searched, and all they found was the bacillus in the fridge. I think we have to find this lab. If we find the lab, we certainly will find Blaze and Jackson." Baez nodded. "Then let´s head back to the department. Maybe they already found out if there is some place the lab could be." They got into the car, Baez took the driver seat. When they were driving past St. Victor´s hospital, Danny asked her to stop. "You know, as we are here, I would like to drop in for a moment, to see Jamie. I don´t know, I just want to check on him." His partner understood and pulled up into the parking lot.
A nurse led them through the corridors. They crosses a waiting room, and Danny saw Erin in a chair. She was leaning against the wall, her eyes closed. "Hey, Erin!" She woke up with a shock. "Danny! I´m sorry, I just… I was tired." She got up and hugged her brother. Danny put his arms around her as well. "How is he?", he asked. Erin just sobbed. All the time she had been so worried, now it came out of her and she cried desperately in Danny´s shoulder. "I don´t know how this is going to end, Danny. This bacillus is completely new to them! They can´t do anything for him!" Danny hugged her once more, then let go. "I will go to him now. We don´t have much, but maybe I can give him hope."
The room was dark and quiet. Danny just heard a regular beep coming from a monitor. "We managed to put him on CPAP-therapy for now.", Doctor Brook explained. "He had passed out half an hour ago and remained like this since then." Danny looked at his little brother. Jamie´s face was pale and sweaty, he seemed so small under the sheets. Danny took a seat while Baez stayed outside. He closed his eyes, begging for a possibility to help his brother. Suddenly, there was a weak voice. "Danny?" His head snapped up. Jamie´s eyes where open, he tried to pull the CPAP-mask off his face. Doctor Brook came to him and took it. Jamie coughed weakly. "How are you, little brother?", Danny asked, even if it felt stupid. Jamie breathed in with a rattle. "I´m dying, Danny." Danny was terrified. "No." He reached out for Jamie´s hand. "No, you aren´t, okay? Listen to me…" He carefully rubbed his hand. "You won´t die, I promise. There has to be an antidote, and I will get it for you." Jamie was shaken by a painful coughing attack. He clutched Danny´s hand, gasping for air in exhaustion. Danny stood up and softly stroked Jamie´s forehead. "Okay? We got a very good trace, and I will get you alright again. I promise. Just wait for me, will you?" "I will.", Jamie whispered. Doctor Brook put him on the CPAP-mask again. Danny shot a last look at his brother, then he turned around to Baez. "We have to go. There is no time to lose."
