"Ah...the sadness of having you heartbroken. The strongest kind of emotion...perfect bait for my akuma!" Hawk Moth smirked, looking over the white butterfly in his palm.
"But, sir...are you going to akumatize your own son?" Nathalie watched him carefully. She did not transform, but she watched Gabriel, now Hawk Moth, curious and a little worried. Was he going this far to get Emilie back by akumatizing Adrien?
A sigh, followed by a laugh, filled the room. "Of course not, Nathalie. I won't put my son in danger." He said, seriously, then smiled. "But now I know exactly who to akumatize next in order to get the ring and the earrings." He smirked. "Nooroo, dark wings, fall."
Gabriel turned to his assistant, the smirk never leaving his face. Without another word, the man walked past Nathalie.
"No way, you and Luka are a thing?!" Rose gasped, her eyes wide as she looked over at Marinette. The girls were chatting on the stairs of the school, waiting for the classes to start. Marinette just told them about her kiss with Luka and everyone was more than surprised to hear this. Well, except for Juleka, who already knew from Luka.
"What about Adrien?" Alix asked, tilting her head. When Marinette told them she was over Adrien for real, nobody really believed her. It was God knows what time she said it. But, clearly, Marinette was starting to get over Adrien.
The blue haired girl blushed a bit, looking over her hands. She sighed a bit, "I, um...I don't know if me and Luka are a thing...we kissed and...it was nice..."
Yes, she said she wouldn't date Luka unless she started loving him. No, she didn't start loving him. But she thought of what Mr. Agreste told her about the new beginnings. She couldn't keep pushing Luka away until she came clear with her feelings. She had to at least try something and see if she really liked Luka more then a friend or just his words had her fancy him. And this kiss made her realise she definitely liked Luka more than a friend...of course, she didn't feel like she felt when Adrien's fingers touched hers years ago when he gave her the umbrella. But the feeling was enough to let her know it was worth giving it a try.
She blushed as their lips started moving against each other in a soft kiss. It was her first kiss -she wasn't going to count the times she kissed Cat Noir because 1. She was Ladybug then and 2. One time she did it because she had no choice and the other time...she had no idea why, she couldn't remember. And it felt...nice. It wasn't like she imagined, like she read in books; it wasn't that overwhelming sensation that makes your whole skin get goosebumps, you're heart racing. But it was a calming feeling that made her tip toe, deepening the kiss. She felt his hands tighten around her waist, making her cheeks even redder. She pulled away, taking a deep breath. They both stared into each other's eyes, then smiled.
Marinette looked down at their feet, then slightly took a step back. "I...I should probably thank Adrien...he's the one that made everything happen." She whispered, looking in her bag for her phone. Probably not the best time to mention Adrien. But Luka didn't seem to mind. He just smiled and shook his head.
Hey Adrien! Thank you for talking to your dad...you're the best! XoXo. She bit her lip, then pressed sent. She put her phone back, then looked at Luka.
"Want some ice cream?" He asked, pointing to Andre. She smiled, then nodded.
She blushed more, covering her face as the girls started with the 'ooohhh' in a mocking way. "But now, after the kiss, I kind of came clearer with my feelings and-" Before she could finish, she saw two boys walking together inside the school. "Be right back." She got up, running past them.
The girls watched Marinette, then sighed. She ran to Adrien, of course. "Well, here's my answer." Alix murmured, shaking her head.
"So just when you realised you liked her, she moved on?" Nino tilted his head as him and Adrien walked up the stairs.
Adrien sighed, then nodded. "Yeah. I mean, I think she did. She was kissing Luka..." He looked down, the feelings he had yesterday watching the whole scene coming back to him.
He gulped as he watched Luka's hands tighten around her waist, how she tip toe in order to deepen the kiss. His fingers clenched in a fist. He looked away, then turned around.
"Adrien, I'm sorry..." He heard Plagg's voice, the kwami clearly feeling sad for his owner as he saw the whole thing just like Adrien. The blonde didn't answer as he walked back to the car. He slammed the door, making his bodyguard flinch a bit, surprised.
"I'm done...I should've never asked you to stop." He murmured, rubbing his forehead. Now he understood what Marinette felt when she watched him and Kagami together. Those feelings were foreign to him; not even when it came to Ladybug he didn't feel this kind of jealousy combined with this kind of pain.
He heard his phone bleep. He pulled it out of his pocket, gripping it tightly as he read the text.
Hey Adrien! Thank you for talking to your dad...you're the best! XoXo. -Marinette
He felt the urge to smash the phone. But he held back. He should probably respond. Instead, he opened the text, then deleted it from his phone. Adrien groaned, letting his head fall back. How could he be so stupid and not see she loved him...and not realise he felt something for her?
Now, he has lost her.
Nino looked sad at his friend. He placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey dude, maybe it was just a kiss to see if she was over you or not. Maybe she still feels something for you...why don't you try talking with her about your feelings?"
Adrien shook his head, "No, Nino. This would be selfish of me to do it. I hurt her, even though I never wanted to. And now, she is finally moving on from me. If she's happy with Luka, then I must accept and let it go." Adrien murmured.
"Adrien!" The voice made him close his eyes a bit. No, why now..."Hey, Nino! Hey Adrien!" He looked over at Marinette who stopped in front of them. Her cheeks were rosy. Her hair, now in a bun, had some strands falling down, brushing against her cheeks.
She's so beautiful...Adrien thought, then gulped.
"Um, I am going to leave you two. See ya!" Nino waved, walking past Marinette. She nodded, then looked at Adrien. Without a word, she moved closer, her arms wrapping around his body. He was taken aback by this move.
A part of him wanted to push her away, this hug only making the pain in his chest grow more. But the other part of him told him to hug her back and never let go. To kiss the top of her head and let her know how much she meant to him. None of those were really the best choices. However, the boy wrapped his hands around her, hugging her back. He took a deep breath.
"Thank you...''She whispered, pulling away from him. "I texted you yesterday, but I don't think you got my message." She continued, rubbing her arm.
Adrien studied her, feeling guilty now. He acted stupid by deleting her text and not answering. After all, he had no reason to be like this, really. He was the one to ignore Marinette's feelings for him all those years. She waited so long for him...but only if she had waited a bit longer. Yet she had every right to move on. Luka was a great guy, he could treat her well. Just like she deserved.
"Oh, um, sorry! I forgot to answer...I had some...talks with my father, that's all." Adrien lied, rubbing the back of his head. Marinette tilted her head, nodding a bit.
"I hope nothing bad happened." Adrien shook his head, making her feel relieved now. "Your father really liked one of my designs for you." She grabbed his arm, interlocking them and started making her way to class, pulling Adrien after her.
He looked a bit surprised by her action, but didn't push her. Instead, he just listened and followed. He could feel his cheeks redden, but he tried his best to ignore the feeling.
She wasn't sure what came over her, either. But she started feeling comfortable around Adrien. Marinette could not explain how she came from how hurt she was days ago, avoiding Adrien, to now having her arm over his as she casually talked to him.
"Dude, that's messed up." Nino murmured as he got to the girls, taking Marinette's spot on the stairs. They all watched Marinette and Adrien talk.
"Alya told us he knows she likes him." Mylene said, looking down, a bit sad.
"Yeah, well, guess what? Mr. model realised he liked Marinette and wanted to confess." Nino said, making all the girls stare at him, shocked.
"No way!" Alix gasped. Alya frowned a bit.
"Why didn't you tell me?!"
"Because I just found out! Listen to me and stop interrupting!" He criticised the girls, "Please.." He added, as all of them gave him death glares. Nino sighed, then continued. "He wanted to confess yesterday. He realised he liked her and broke up with Kagami. He went to talk to her, but guess what? He saw-"
"Marinette kissing Luka..." All the girls said at the same time, looking at each other, horrified.
"Yeah! And now he is crushed." Nino sighed.
"That's really the weirdest love story..." Juleka said, tightening her arms that were wrapped around Rose.
"Yeah...I mean, what were the odds? Marinette loving Adrien, him being with Kagami...and now he likes her and she is with Luka...or they'll be together." Rose said, tapping her chin.
"The roles reversed, kinda." Alix shrugged.
"We have to do something..." Alay said. Everyone approved, watching Marinette and Adrien walk to class, arms interlocked.
Adrien walked with Marinette outside the school doors, the two of them chatting. Their project got an A+, which made them both happy. They worked really well together. On this day, they spend some more time together. Marinette was so comfortable now around him. And she had no idea why. She still felt something for him, but probably yesterday's events still had her in some sort of euphoria.
"Today, the band has some rehearsals. We could use your piano skills...want to join? You can bring Kagami as well, I know she's going to love it.'' Marinette asked, friendly. She noticed something change in Adrien's expression, but it quickly faded.
The boy cringed a bit at the thought. Him and Kagami were over...and even if they weren't, there was no way he was going to go and see Luka and Marinette together. It was probably the time he told her they broke up. Instead, he smiled. "Um, I will talk with Kagami...but I don't think she'll be able to come. But I will ask her." He quickly said, rubbing the back of his head. He walked to his car, then turned to Marinette. He waved. "Bye, Marinette!" Adrien got in as fast as he could, groaning. "I'm an idiot." He murmured, covering his face with his palms.
Marinette looked a bit confused, waving back. As comfortable as she was around him today, he seemed tense and awkward sometimes. His attitude kind of reminded her of the one she had when she was obsessed with him...not long ago. However, she wasn't going to think much of it. She walked to her place, humming. As she crossed the street, she saw the red car pulled over. She raised her eyebrows, knowing this car. As she got into the bakery, she saw Kagami. A small smile appeared.
"Hey, Kagami!" Marinette said, friendly. The girl turned to look at Marinette. She noticed an uncomfortable smile on Kagami's face.
"Oh, Marinette. Hey." She said, picking the macaroons and walking to her.
"Nice to see you! And what a time to meet you, because I was just talking with Adrien about you." Kagami looked even more uncomfortable, but didn't say a thing. Marinette kept going, "I asked him to join the band again today and told him to bring you, too. But he told me you would probably not be able to make it. So...I am here to help you in case you are not allowed to join." She winked.
Kagami looked surprised at Marinette. From the way she talked, she realised Adrien never told her about his feelings. "So Adrien didn't tell you..." Kagami whispered.
Marinette frowned, confused. "Huh? Tell me what?" She asked, her eyes getting big. Kagami could easily tell Marinette that Adrien loved her now. But it was not her business.
"Oh, nothing important...sorry, Marinette. But I have some important things to do. Maybe another time." Kagami lied, then nodded, walking past Marinette. The girl tried to say something, but decided not to. She sighed, shaking her head.
"Woah, what happened?" Alya walked inside the bakery, looking over at Marinette. She saw Kagami walk out and into the car. And, judging by Marinette's expression, things weren't smooth. Maybe Kagami told Marinette everything. If that brat did it...
"Nothing, I guess. It's just...Kagami has been acting weird. Adrien too. I asked him to join the band today and told him to ask Kagami to come along, but he told me she wouldn't be able to make it. So, when I saw Kagami, I asked her myself if she could join...even offered to help her if she was not allowed to come. Yet, she was...tensed. It was like she was uncomfortable having me around." Marinette sighed.
Alya frowned a bit, tilting her head. "Marinette, Adrien and Kagami broke up." Marinette's eyes widened.
"What?" She whispered, placing a hand over her stomach.
Adrien didn't tell her...he lied to her earlier.
