"We call it 'Kamati'", Kara said, "It means something like 'soul mate' in this world's language but there is so much more to it."
Lena inhaled sharply, sensing that this conversation was going to change everything.
So she said, "That sounds wonderful, Kara."
Locking eyes with Lena, Kara answered, "On Krypton 'Kamati' refers to a bond of eternal friendship formed between two, well, friends. They promise to stand by each other always and in the ritual their souls are connected and from that moment on they can feel each other much more keenly. They can almost communicate without speaking. It's an unbreakable bond."
Lena gaped, "Wow, this sounds magical, amazing."
"It is and…", Kara now extended her flat palm to offer Lena the pendant, "I'd like to ask you to be my 'Kamati', Lena, if you want."
Lena was speechless but when she regained her voice, she whispered, "Kara, I…I don't know what to say. This…this is too much."
