So um yea a new chapter. Yay? Maybe? Not sure if anyone still reads this or the other ones in all honesty. This is a short chapter as I haven't decided what to do with the story. It is kinda a filler as well as a slight continuation of the last chapter. Either way, enjoy I guess.
I came back to myself crouched in a corner. There were figures standing in disjointed positions around me with looks of concern on their face. I briefly wondered why and realized they were trying to give me a sense of space. I quickly dropped my head and looked up through my hair, trying to figure out what it was that was about to happen when one of them spoke.
"Izzy, it's okay. You're not there anymore. Take some breaths, scent the air, calm yourself, and then lift your head and look at us."
I reluctantly started doing as they'd asked all while fighting the urge to either run for the hills or break down. I closed my eyes and stretched my hearing so I could pick up on the slightest of movements. I heard some running water about a quarter and a half-mile away, potentially a waterfall. There were some birds a 5 minutes run southeast building a nest, and a squirrel dicking about a few yards away. I focused on things I was hearing for a few minutes later when I heard someone or something shift a few feet away.
My eyes immediately snapped open and I turned towards it, taking a deep breath trying to catch a scent. I recognized four different scents. They bore the subtle scent of our people, it clung to them and intertwined itself with their very essence. It was slightly laced with a sweet but savory smell of amber and honey, indicating that they were family. I relaxed and further calmed myself, keeping an ear out for changes in the atmosphere as well.
After an undetermined amount of time, I felt someone wrap their arms around me and pull me into a hug. I relaxed against them and started sobbing, the memories still haunting me. After a while, I realized that they were murmuring quiet apologies and comforting words in my ear. I slowly leaned away and looked into the intense but soft gaze of Jadeyn.
"I'm sorry Iz. Had I known her condition I wouldn't have chosen her," he said. I gave him a silent nod and took in the appearance of the room. Yup, definitely trashed.
Someone walked up to us and handed me a bag. I silently took it and drained it followed by a few more. Everyone just stood around in silence waiting for me to finish while Jadeyn continued to berate himself.
When I finished I took a few shaky breaths. I cleared my throat to catch Jades' attention and when I did I said, "Just bring me the bastard that did that to her and we'll be even."
I motioned for someone to help me up and steady me. They obliged and I cleared my throat again and looked around feeling awkward.
Eventually, I made my way towards the door, intent on going to lay down, when the door to the restraint cell opened. I froze in place and inhaled. A sickly sweet smell that could only be associated with vampires wafted towards me almost making me gag. I internally sighed and facepalmed. I'd forgotten they were down here.
Nevertheless, I continued on my path determined to vacate the cellar. On my way out I sensed more than felt Jasper attempting to mess with my emotions so I reaffirmed my shield and headed to bed.
-line break-
A while later I woke up feeling disoriented. I released my senses as I stretched and I noticed a few things. One: Jadeyn and Blake were outside my door, Two: there's tapping outside my window, Three: There was a pathetic growling noise coming from downstairs, and Four: I have to pee. Naturally, I decided that Two and Four were more important so that's what I decided to do first.
Standing up I went to let Starmie into the room, watched Starmie tiredly fly to her house, and ran to the bathroom, barely making it in time. Afterward, I worked up a fuck to give about what else was happening and swung open my bedroom door.
"What the hell is that pathetic noise and why are you two standing outside my door like I'm a prisoner?"
They both turned towards me but only Jadeyn acknowledged my words. "Well, Sleeping Beauty arises. I'll have you know that we aren't standing here because we want to. The Copper headed fuck has been trying to go in your room and disturb you, which would be the source of the pathetic noise that you so graciously awoke to."
Queue the pathetic growl. I grunted and pushed past them. I made my way into the kitchen, nodding to Dylan and Cradyn on the way. I grabbed some orange juice from the fridge and leaned against the counter. I stood there absentmindedly drinking my juice and flexing my shield when Rosalie wandered in.
I watched as she walked over and just awkwardly stood there. After a bit, I chose to bite the bullet and opened my mouth.
"Sup."
"Um hi." I stood there and looked at her a bit unnerved. Never once had she actually felt the need to answer me, nor with a slightly awkward smile on her face. It's always been Ice Bitch from the very beginning. Hmmm… I narrowed my eyes.
"What brings you in here? Here to badger me for answers, tell me I'm not good enough, apologize on behalf of your fucked up family or beg me not to beat your ass?"
"Actually none of the above. I came in here to get away from Edward. He's being an even bigger moping self-righteous asshole than usual," she said as she slumped over the other counter.
We stayed there in silence some more while I made myself some food and grabbed another pouch. I tore it open and stretched out my hearing. I heard some hissing coming from Edward while Alice and the others held their breath. I stopped paying attention and commenced to downing the O neg. As I was I heard Edward hiss something and saw Rosalie tense and a growl came from Emmett.
I watched as her eyes darkened and she hissed out, "Fuck you, Edward."
I finished my pouch, grabbed my sandwich, and turned to her. "Well good luck with that." I walked up to my room and sat down on my bed to eat my food, all while making plans to go 'commune with the trees' later.
