Matt woke up as Gabby left the bed, away from his arms. Groaning as he rolled over, smiling at her as she was opening the blinds, letting the sunlight flood into the little house.

''What do you want for breakfast?'', she asked as she walked by the bed, pecking him on his lips.

''You always make breakfast for your guests?'', he joked.

''Not used to a man in my house anymore.''

''Oh, I am just any man now?'', he teased as he rolled on his side, leaning on his elbow.

''You are my husband whom is currently on very thin ice if he keeps making these remarks,'' she teased him.

Getting up from the bed, he wrapped his arms around her as he walked towards the kitchen.

''Blueberry pancakes, or am I still on thin ice?''

''If you promise to let me help you finish the dollhouse, that can be arranged.''

''Sounds good to me.''

As Gabby was getting ready for the day, he started to work on the dollhouse for the hospital again. There wasn't much to be done, only some of the pieces that would make the floor and the walls inside had to be sanded so it was safe for the kids, and placed.

He looked as Gabby came walking outside, as pretty as the day he met her. As much as their situation wasn't ideal right now, his heart fluttered every time he saw her.

Sitting down beside him, she took a piece of sanding paper and took one of the boards that he had cut to the right size. He looked a bit proud as she took one of the sanding papers on the ground and smiled as she started to help him.

Chatting as they worked, Gabby was so excited to take this to the hospital and was so grateful of Matt for making this.

''I think we could be happy here.''

''Gabby, I have a career and a life too in Chicago and as much as I want to be with you, I don't know if I can. Besides that, I don't know if I can move here. I'd have to give up my life to move somewhere uncertain and I don't even speak the language. You know how I am with these things.''

He knew it was one of his own shortcomings, he rather stayed in the place where he was comfortable.

''Are you thinking about it?''

''I am sorry, it is just not a choice I can make within this short amount of time.''

''I know, and that is okay. I know I am asking a lot of you and I can wait,'' She smiled as she took sanding the wood for a second to look at him.

''If you want me to think about moving here, I need you to think of moving back to Chicago too. This has to be a two way effort.'' He said as he picked the dirt from under his nails, worried to even bring it up. He knew that Gabby wouldn't want to move back and he didn't want to force her too. But the last think he wanted was to be pushed into a corner where his only choice was moving here.

''I know, and I am,'' she said as she looked at the board in her hands again.

She knew she couldn't expect Matt to drop everything and come and move here. As much as she loved being here and felt that it gave her life purpose, she also knew that part of the reason moving here was to get away from her problems with Matt, their relationship and their sorrow about losing their baby and then Louie and the news that another pregnancy was not viable for her. If she wanted to make this work, she knew that she had to stop running away from that too and allow him in her life again.

''Alright, Gabby, we don't need to rush into a decision, I am just glad to have spend this time with you,'' he assured her.

''I know, I do think you need to help me out with putting these in place,'' she smiled as she held up the board that she was done sanding. Moving closer Matt carefully started assembling the boards, creating the floors and the walls that separated the rooms. Each board had been carefully cut out, easily moved into place.

An hour later, after some finishing touches, the dollhouse was done and Matt carried it to the jeep. As Gabby had promised to take him to her favorite place on the island, they would drive their and drop off the dollhouse on the way.

Putting it in the back of her jeep, Matt looked concerned as he turned around and saw her face.

''What is wrong?''

''Nothing,'' she forced a smile upon her face, not wanting to wallow in the sorrow that had made her run here in the first place.

''It's the fact we never had a family, isn't it?''

A bit surprised that he called her out, she looked at him.

''Gabby, it is a hurdle we can overcome when we get to it. I can't imagine the pain you are feeling, but there are other ways to have a family.'' He said, not wanting to belittle her sadness, but hoping to offer a bit of perspective.

''I know,'' she said, laying her hand on his arm for a second with an appreciative smile as they got into the car.

Driving to the hospital, they triumphantly carried in the dollhouse. Matt put it down, carefully, immediately swarmed by some of the kids that were in the recreational area. They stopped at a toy store in San Juan on the way to buy some small dolls to go with it and he handed them around. Getting up, he was so happy to look Gabby with endearment and him and the kids.

''Come on, they love you more,'' he smiled.

Looking as Gabby knelt down by them and he sat down on a bench against the wall as she grabbed on of the dolls, playing along with them. Although he didn't understand what he was saying, he adored the sight.

Seeing her so happy with the kids and how proud she looked, it filled his heart with happiness he had barely ever felt before.

About two hours later, they drove onto a beach that Gabby had wanted to take him to watch the sunset, as they picked up food along the way for a beach picnic.

''One of the other volunteers told me about this beach. It is a far drive, but I feel like it is worth it, as the sunsets are amazing.''

They got out of the car, Gabby taking the picnic blanket she had taken and laying it down on the sand. Matt took the drinks and the food they had picked up on the way and put it down as they sat down.

Grabbing the food and drinks, the sun had started to set and they enjoyed the sunset, Matt looking in awe. His moment of pure bliss was only interrupted as a small beach crab started making it's way towards them.

Cautiously, Matt looked at the crab.

''It's not going to hurt you.''

Trying to focus on Gabby, he jumped up as it came even closer.

''Matt, it's just a little crab,'' she laughed a little as she saw his alarmed expression.

''I don't like it, okay!'', Matt said as he looked as the crab made it's way towards him again and he dashed to the car, opening the passenger door and pulling his feet up.

Laughing for a second, she made it's way towards the car, the crab rushing away as she came closer.

''The coast is clear, the great crustacean has fled,'' She jokingly said.

''I am just a simple guy from the South Side,'' he laughed, realizing how stupid it was to be scared of this little crab, considering what he did for a living.

''You are not just some simple guy Matt, you are kind, selfless, brave,'' she said, Although she knew he was just saying it because he clearly felt bad for not being as open to moving here, but she loved him nonetheless. He smiled, happy to hear her say that. As much as he wasn't insecure about himself, he did worry that he was not enough for her.

As the crab had made it's way far away, he finally dared to sit down again.

''I am going to miss you being here…but at least we can call and facetime this time, right?''

''Any time – when I am not in a burning building.''

She laughed for a second, but as much as she had left him, she knew she was going to miss him much more now. Knowing that he didn't hate her would only make her miss him more.

''It's only four weeks right?''

Matt looked a bit concerned as she looked upset.

''Yeah,'' she smiled. As much as she loved it here, she was excited to Chicago once again. Especially now that she knew she would see him there. They still had a few days here on the island together, but she knew he did have to go back to Chicago in only a few days.

''We can decide what we are going to do then, give us both some more time to think about what we want,'' Gabby offered and Matt nodded.

He knew that no matter the outcome, both of them would have a lot of thinking to do about this. It wasn't a decision they could make lightly. It would probably be good to think about it away from each other and as they wouldn't influence each other.

''I am not leaving for another five days,'' he said as he laid his arm around her. Laying her head against his shoulder, she knew that there was a long way to go and a lot of choices to be made, but she hoped that their love would conquer all their uncertainty.

''We should probably get off the beach, before the crabs come out,'' she broke up their hug as the son had mostly said.

''You better protect me.'' He laughed as they got back to the car. Sharing another kiss in the car, his hand on her face, he couldn't imagine there wouldn't be a way it would all turn out okay.
