Finally, after an hour of non stop battles, it was finally Karlito's turn. He stepped up to the platform, facing the child of Athena. No one knew about that but Karlito, and that scared him a lot. What would she pull out of her brain? Karlito knew she was prone to pressure like everyone else, even more so since she had the pressure of Athena on her back.

Maybe he could psych her out of the fight? No, that wasn't his or her style. Karlito was going to fight her, no matter how clever she was. At the end of the day, he had a fifty percent chance of winning.

McGonagall stepped in between the competitors, silently raring to see who was the strongest. She knew for a fact that Karlito was physically and magically stronger, but Annabeth Chase was a pure demigod, who had fought for all her life. Karlito had done the same, but in an different way. This wouldn't just be about fighting. This would be a result of who had the most mental fortitude.

McGonagall raised her hand. "Go!" Karlito jumped back a meter as Annabeth tried to press him. She fell forward. "Rookie trick!" She flipped over and pulled out her wand. Karlito was defenseless, or so it seemed. "Diffindo!" She said. Karlito put out his wand just in time. "Protego!" Karlito landed and did an handstand. When he stood up, Annabeth was standing close. Karlito thought of his next move.

She'll definitely go left, to throw me off. If I fall for it, I'm dead meat. She'll hit me with a curse, and I'll be inactive. To win, your opponent has to be rendered unable to fight or they give up. She will never give up. So, if she's unable to fight me...

Karlito didn't have anymore time to think as Annabeth cooked up more spells. "Confringo!" Karlito blocked again. He needed to get on the offensive. Even with the Magical stamina he had, defensive spells used up more stamina. As he dodged, he thought of a spell that would catch her off guard. "Ventus!" Wind spewed out of Karlito's wand, and made a tornado around Annabeth. Cuts appeared on her skin, just little ones. They did more mental damage than physical.

Annabeth muttered a counter spell and got out of the tornado. "Good one." She murmured. She then laughed and attacked once more. "Incendio!" Karlito had to duck as a column of flame boosted over his head. He could feel the heat and took off his sweater. Annabeth was finding joy in this. "Time to stop holding back. I'll give you the same advice. Don't underestimate me!" "Believe me, I'm not. You're a great opponent, and I'm not sure how I'm going to win." Karlito crouched. "But, I'm going to win!"

Karlito jumped up. Annabeth looked at him weirdly. Everyone in the crowd was watching with awe, wondering what spell he used. The fact was, he didn't. Karlito coursed his magic from his body to his legs, not through his wand. Now, he changed the course back to regular. "Descendo!" Instead of pointing his wand towards Annabeth, he pointed to himself. Twenty feet in the air, he started to drop like a rock. Karlito aimed himself like a her towards Annabeth.

She was shocked at first, but readied herself. "Confundo!" Karlito put up his shield and countered. "Augimenti!" A jet of water gushed towards Annabeth. She didn't dodge it, her subconsciousness alluding Percy to water. The water stung her eyes and froze her body. She was stuck. Karlito was closer, and closer, close...

SMACK! He barreled his shoulder into Annabeth's, making her trip and fall. Karlito smacked her wand halfways across the floor. As they fell, Karlito was the only person to have his wand. "Levicorpus!" Annabeth was tied up by her hands instead of her ankles.

The judges decided that she was unable to go on any longer. Karlito let her down and they shook hands. It was a terrific match on both ends, after all.

Hermione had bested her opponent, so she was next up. She put her hand in the jar and picked a name. "Percy Jackson." Percy smiled at Hermione, to which she growled. They got up on stage. Percy was going to take it easy, since Hermione was a girl. "Augimenti-" "Protego, Incendio! Expelliarmus!" Percy managed to dodge the first and second spell, but fell victim to the third one.

So, it was in shock that he stood without his wand. He was deemed unable to keep fighting, so the match went to Hermione. The girl smirked and walked off the stage. Percy was still in shock as he was lead off the stage by Jason. "You sold, my guy."

The next matches went as per: Harry beat Goyle, Hermione beat Crabbe, and Karlito beat Blaise. Jason beat Megan, and Thalia beat Draco. She didn't talk any trash, which confirmed their working together.

Those numbers went down until the only people left were Karlito, Harry, Hermione, Thalia, Jason, and Sue Li. Karlito really didn't want to best Harry or Hermione this soon. He was pretty glad when he got Thalia. He really has some feelings toward her that could only be expressed during battle.

Thalia stood in front of him. Just before McGonagall could say go, Thalia raised her hand. "Is it okay if a use an outside weapon?" The judges talked about it. "It's okay as long as the opponent doesn't matter." Karlito nodded his head. "You'll only lose faster."

"Go!"

Thalia jumped at him, raring for battle. Karlito managed to dodge, but she was pressuring him too much. She seemed angry, not in an great mentao mindset for fighting. Karlito took his wand. She almost cut in in twos. "Incendio!" She used her shield to block the flames. The head on the shield was Medusa, but that didn't faze Karlito. Once you'd seen a drunk old couple kiss sloppily on the street, nothing fazed you anymore.

Thalia got more and more pressuring by the second. "Damn! Back up!" Thalia pushed him off the stage, and he landed awkwardly. He realized his arm was in different places in three spots. He had separated his arm three times!

Thalia looked on from the stage, satisfied with herself. Karlito jumped up, pretty angry. He snapped his arm back in place. Even Promfrey winced at the effort. Yet, she didn't say a word. Karlito saw out of the corner of his eyes, Dumbledore standing at the door.

He couldn't lose to that prick.

Karlito stepped back up on stage. He needed something, a weapon of the same caliber as the spear and sheild. He thought to his wand, summoning all the magic in his body to his will. He felt the warm wood of his wand turn into a cold grip. It was a sword, he realized as he opened his eyes.

The sword was golden. Literally golden. It was just under three feet, and balanced well in his hand. Karlito swung the sword. It was perfect in his hand. The handhold had a name engraved in it. Alexander. Did that mean anything? He couldn't think about it now as Thalia had advanced.

She was crouched, and jumped. Karlito sidestepped and swung his sword at her head. Use dodged it, but barely. Karlito took a step back, then pointed his sword downward. He then put the skin on Thalia's arm, blood leaking out. She stepped back.

From the sidelines, Harry and Hermione were standing up. As long as they had known the boy, Karlito had never once gotten angry at anyone, not even Snape. He was always coming the other two down when they got riled up. Now, they watched helplessly as he got pissed at Thalia. What had she done?

Karlito pointed his sword at Thalia. "First, you lie to me and my friends, then you side with the enemy? You betrayed our trust, and tried to uproot my friendship with the only people who ever loved me for me. We've faced hardships worse than this, but you...you guys just make me so angry!" Karlito stabbed his sword into the ground, and a geyser erupted. Water, in its most beautiful form, sprayed everywhere. No one really noticed that Karlito hadn't muttered a spell.

"Thalia Grace. I'll defeat you, even if I'm on my deathbed!" Karlito charged at the girl. She tried to sidestep him, but he was three steps ahead of her. Karlito stepped in front of her, and cut her shoulder. She didn't cry in pain, only biting her tongue and trying to cut her. Karlito kept slicing and moving, so she couldn't cut him.

Thalia tried to stab him, and made her last and fatal move. He hopped out of the way and she stopped into his geyser. She didn't know it wasn't regular water. The water gripped her body and burned her. Thalia cried out in agony. Karlito heard yelling in the distance, but didn't stop. Thalia needed to pay. She really did. He felt McGonagall's hand on his shoulder, slapping it and trying to shake him. He stopped the geyser and shook her off.

Thalia fell to the ground. All the students watched as she was carted off by Promfrey. Karlito didn't care. She deserved what she got. Hehe, he was even a little giddy about it. Karlito heard he was ejected by Hermione, who had lost to Harry. She led him to the common room, and whispered nothings into his ear. Karlito didn't hear them. All he could hear was the ocean, roaring in his ears.

Break was soon upon them a couple of days later. The others had made a decision. Harry and Hermione were going to stay at the Weasleys. The demigods were staying at the school. Karlito was going with Harry and Hermione. The demigods were giving him dirty looks, and Karlito didn't care. He couldn't concentrate those last days in class, the ocean was getting louder. When he told Harry and Hermione these things, they believed him. Maybe he should go to Promfrey? No. Karlito spent hours on the shower, because that was the only place the ocean didn't tell in his head.

Maybe, just maybe he should go to an ocean on break? Harry and Hermione would definitely miss him. He wasn't sure he could stand a moment away from them. How would he ever last the summer?

Harry lost the tournament to Jason, who was deemed the best first year, at least by the judges. Jason took the honor grandiosely. Karlito felt more powerful than Jason, at least magic wise.

After waking up the day of the beginning of break, Karlito went down to eat some breakfast. He sat alone, since no one wanted to be around him. Harry and Hermione were yet to wake. Karlito snacked on some chicken, but put it down. It left a bitter taste in his mouth. He saw fish on the table and almost threw up. He looked at his hands. Since when did Karlito hate seafood? He loved seafood, when Bean introduced him to cooked fish.

Karlito just slid the plate away, the same way Percy did.

After breakfast, he bumped into Neville. "Hey, Longbottom." "Hey, Alexander. Where are you spending break?" "At Ron's. Harry and Hermione are joining me. What about you?" "My family's getting together in the Americas for a little trip. My... my parent's brothers are going to be there." Karlito noted the stutter. "Do your parents not like your uncles and aunts?" "Not that...just...nevermind, it's nothing. I'll be going to pack my things. See ya." "See ya later, Neville." Neville went up to pack his bags.

Karlito, who had already done so, brought his stuff downstairs and sat in a chair. The trains would be brought around at about 11 a.m., so Karlito had about an hour. Should he explore the school? Nah, he might get lost. Shouji? No, he sucked at that. Chess? Nah, he was too good at it for it to be fun any longer.

What should he do? Karlito decided to take a quick power nap. That would drain all of his worries. Karlito poured his a cup of lemonade and drink it. It tasted better than usual. It tasted excellent. It refueled him. That was weird. Karlito put his head in his hand and drifted off the sleep.

He didn't expect to have a dream.

As soon as his eyes closed, Karlito felt his body soar downwards into a black hole. He fell onto a soft pillow. Karlito got up and touched the walls. He was in a insane person's room. He was in the crazy house, Bean called it. There was a camera in the room.

Karlito was lurking in the corner for a minute before the door opened. In came two wizards, carrying a man wrapped in restrictive chains. He had a black coat on, and a dirty body. He was thrown down into the chair, as it flipped over. He was restrained against the chair. "You are here for the crimes you have committed. The killing of The Alexanders and the attempted murder of their son."

Karlito recognized the man, but couldn't place him. The man yelled and thrashed. "You will pay dearly with your lives once my Lord has returned." A wizard with all white clothing yelled at the man. "This is a mockery you make of yourself. The Dark Lord has been defeated, defeated and bested by himself. It was a shame really, for such a clever and powerful man to kill himself accidentally."

Karlito frowned. He was talking about Voldemort, right? So this man had to be..." Karlito recognized him immediately. Augustus..." So this is after my parents were killed, Karlito thought.

The man, Augustus yelled. "Bullshit! He lives. I have made sure of it. Kill me, throw me in Azkaban, do what you like! When the Dark Lord comes back, I will be a martyr!" The third wizard, who was in all black, looked angry and pissed. "You better know your place, you rat! I'll kill you for sure!" The man in white yelled. "Calm down, Moody. You can't kill him, at least not yet. Cornelius needs to speak with the fool."

Moody slapped Augustus. Augustus took the hit, and looked up smiling. Since Karlito was behind him, he saw Augustus untie the restrains and have his hands free. "What are you grinning at, fool?" "Your stupidity." An alarm went off, and the door burst open. Augustus made his move. He jumped off the chair and slashed at Moody's eye. He didn't miss. He cut a long slash from the eye to the nose. Moody covered the cut, which was deep. "Ow! Get him!" The man in white jumped, but was stopped as a man in the doorway cast an Impedimenta Jinx on him.

"My Lord!" Augustus cried. Standing, in the flesh, was Voldemort himself. Karlito could feel his presence, even in a dream. The man was in a particularly bad mood, and Karlito felt it. The air pressed his lungs, not supply them with air. Moody even crouched, all his once anger gone. Karlito fell onto the ground, barely keeping his head up.

The man who was under the jinx was crushed by the force, and Karlito heard multiple cracks as his ribs, spine, and lungs were crushed. Karlito had no choice but to watch as the man quickly died from the brutal injuries. Voldemort looked at Moody as he readied his wand. Augustus took his Lord's arm. "My Lord, sir, I think we should leave him." "And why?" "We need witnesses. A testimony of our strength should cause mass panic and the like. Just think of the screaming when they heard the best restraining wizard they had was killed by Voldemort."

Voldemort pondered this. "Alright. Consider this your lucky day." Karlito watched as the men held hands and prepared to Apparate. "My Lord, where to next?" "We have next the Potters. For this one, you shall stay outside and escape in case something happens." "My Lord-" "No talk back. They may have the same curse, though I doubt it. Even still, I need to kill their son." "Another prophecy from that lady, I presume?" "Yes. And yet, she was right about the last one. He was powerful indeed." "My Lord...I shall abide by your wishes." They soon disappeared out of thin air.

Karlito felt his body disintegrate into cells. He felt the remains breeze into the wind. He felt like he was floating over the sea, then he was dropped off. Karlito rematerialized at an house in Godric's Hollow. Everyone walked past it, so Karlito assumed he was the only one who could see it. Karlito heard a bang. He entered the house, running through the mirrors of people. He opened the door, and saw the body of a man that reflected Harry.

The man had his eyes closed, and a slight smile on his face. Karlito stood in terror, then hopped over the man's body. He assumed that was Harry's dad. Karlito thundered up the stairs and saw a man standing over a woman. She looked nothing like Harry, except for those green eyes. Those eye that made Karlito laugh and smile. Those eyes that called him best friend.

She stood over a smaller copy of Harry. "Damn you!" The lady said. "No. Please don't! You don't understand my love for him. He is my only child. I can't lose him!" The man repeated the same statement. "Move aside, and I will spare you." Finally, the lady stopped breathing hard and hugged her baby as hard as she could. He was still sound asleep.

"I love you...Harry James." She then ran at Voldemort, wand out. He lifted his wand, muttered that awful curse, and a green flash emerged. Harry's mother lay on the floor, as dead as a stone. Voldemort approached Harry, who was crying in his sleep. He lifted his wand mercilessly. He uttered this very same words he had countless times before. "Avada Kedavra!" Karlito was warped outside. This time, no one was around besides Augustus. "This is it!" But, Voldemort didn't walk out. And Harry was still crying as loudly as can be. Lights were flashing off as people were going to sleep. Finally, little Harry fell to sleep.

Augustus ran into the house hurriedly. Karlito followed close behind. They went up the stairs and into the baby's room. Voldemort lie there, unable to move. He had countless wounds. Little Harry lie asleep, as peaceful as it could get. Voldemort breathed slow. Augustus lie down with the man, cradling his head. "My Lord! How?" "They...had the same spell...as the Alexanders." Voldemort sounded and looked hundreds of years older.

Augustus tried to carry the man out, but he would cooperate. "Augustus, I feel...bad..." Karlito almost laughed in the situation. He would've thought a ultimate killing machine would've had more words in his vocabulary.

Augustus was literally crying. "My Lord...let's get out of here. Forget the child!" "Yes...let's go..." Karlito was ejected from the dream. He didn't know how long he had been asleep, but as jolted awake from nausea.

He slowly opened his eyes. "Um..." Hermione was standing over him. He was on a bed of sorts. Sweat was down his body, and his shirt was tied around his waist. Karlito slowly sat up, cracking his neck. "Hermione...what's going on?" "You scared me, you idiot!" "What did I do?" "You fell asleep. Some older kids were trying to wake you up, but you didn't. And then, you stopped breathing, so I gave you CPR." She looked flustered. "What happened then?" "Madam Promfrey got you, and I've been waiting for sometime." "What time is it?" "Three o'clock." "THREE O'clock?" "Yeah, we missed the train, but the Weasleys are going to come get us." "Is that so?" Karlito laid down. "How long was i down under?" "Don't phrase it like that! Well, for about an hour. You kept coming and going. Promfrey said you were having an episode." "What is that?" "She said it's when someone has epilepsy or brain dismantlement. In your case, you have the latter, meaning your brain has stress and anxiety." "I have stress and anxiety."

"Yeah, so you'll have an episode of you get too stressed out. Try not to think so much." "Thanks for the impossible advice. Where's Harry? He and Ron are exploring the castle. The twins are playing cards, and Percy is running around harassing kids." "I thought you liked Percy?" "He's gotten really stuck up." "You've gotten way cooler, Mione. Not that you weren't cool before." "Just...go back to sleep." "Nah, I have to tell you about these dreams I had." "We're they bad?" "Yeah." "Scale?" "One to ten, um about an 8, if we're talking that." Hermione put down her book and got under the covers with him. "Go ahead."
