They head out around nine the next morning, Jimin driving, Jungkook's hair whipping around from the wind. It's not a long drive, but it's enough for them to get through a full album of Troy Sivan and start on Ed Sheeran by the time they arrive.

Jimin puts the car in drive and gestures towards the house. "And this, is where I grew up," he says, as if Jungkook hasn't been hundreds upon hundreds of times.

Jungkook rolls his eyes. "Oh is it?"

" Mhmm. Lovely, right? Do you like the cherry tree?"

" Indeed, looks vaguely familiar."

" Nah, you've never been here. Let's go inside. You need to meet my family. No need to be nervous."

" I think I'll be okay."

They make their way up the front steps together and once they reach the porch, Jungkook points to the wooden rocking chairs. " This was probably a good place to sit with your friends in high school. I can imagine you sitting on this chair, trying to sober up before you snuck in way after your curfew."

Jimin shoves Jungkook with his shoulder. " That's a pretty specific thing to come up with at a house you've never been to before."

" Yeah, well, I can picture it.

" No shit, because it happened."

" How would I know that? I've never been here."

" Oh now you want to play along."

Jungkook smiles. " Let's go meet your mum."

They walk inside together, the AC cold on their faces, and they drop their shoes at the front door as Jimin calls out, " Mum, everyone, we're here. Come meet my new boyfriend."

Hana makes her way down the hallway, hands clasped together. " Hi, sweetheart," she says kissing Jimin on the cheek. She turns to Jungkook, her eyes lighting up. Jimin makes a face; Jungkook preens. " Jungkook, we haven't seen you here in so long!" She pulls him in for a hug, squeezing tightly.

Jungkook hugs back, and into getting shoulder, he says, " It's nice to meet you. Your home is beautiful."

Jimin barks out a laugh. " Awesome. You're awesome."

Hana pulls back. " What is Jimin making you do..."

" Nothing," he says innocently. He looks at Jimin. " Can I get a tour of the house?"

" Honestly, you two are exhausting," she says, smacking Jimin on the hip.

" Go on, give him a tour, be weird. Meet us all in the kitchen after."

Jimin smirks. " Okay, let me show you the house."

" Lead the way."

He takes Jungkook upstairs first, pointing out the master bedroom as if Jungkook has no idea where it is, and shows him the bathroom, which Jungkook has used countless times. He ooh's and ahh's at the girls bedrooms and when he points to the picture of Jimin at aged nine, hanging in the hallway, he doesn't make fun of it like he did the first time he saw it over a decade ago. Instead he says,

" What a cute child you were. Bet you were shit hot in high school."

Jimin nods. " I was. Bet you wish you knew me then."

" You're right."

They make their way to Jimin's old bedroom, which is now the room his youngest twin siblings share. " And this is where the magic happened," he says. " Imagine it without the stuffed animals."

Jungkook raises a brow. " See, in my imagination, I always pictured your high school bedroom to have some stuffed animals, though. Including a horse named Lenny."

Jimin turns red. " I always forget you remember every fucking thing about me. It's so annoying."

Jungkook laughs. " I know this isn't technically your bedroom anymore and it looks totally different to what it used to, but if high school Jungkook knew that present Jungkook had the opportunity to kiss you in this bedroom and didn't take it..."

Jimin pushes Jungkook up against the door, putting his hands in Jungkook's back pocket of his jeans.

" You wanted to kiss me in here?"

He shrugs. " Probably." After a moment, he nods. " Definitely."

Jimin smiles before leaning on.

" Gotta give high school Kook what he wants, I suppose."

Jungkook swallows. " Would be nice of you."

He brushes their lips together lightly, just enough to barely touch, and Jungkook's hands find their way up to Jimin's face, cupping his jaw. Jimin deepens the kiss, his tongue making its way into his mouth, and Jungkook's breathing stutters out of him, thumb on his left cheek drawing gentle circles.

Jimin pulls back and puts his forehead on Jungkook's chest, listening to his heart beating. " Good thing I never kissed you in here before," he says. " Probably wouldn't have ever wanted to stop."

Jungkook kisses the top of his head.

" Ditto." He bends down and kisses him briefly on the cheek and says,

" Alright, back downstairs. I'm trying to get your family to like me, remember? Good first impressions and all that."

Jimin rolls his eyes, but follows Jungkook out of the door, anyway.

Jungkook leads the way downstairs, remembering from all his time spent here in high school to avoid the step with the dip in it, and rounds the corner to the kitchen before Jimin can catch up. He can hear Jungkook exclaim, " Mrs Park! Everything looks and smells amazing! And your girls are gorgeous!"

Jimin thinks his heart could burst.

The week of the Fourth of July, Jungkook calls Jimin on how much break.

" Would you be interested in going to my family's lake house for the Fourth?"

Jimin picks idly at his chips. " Um, yeah I would. I haven't been there since college, I don't think. Will your parents be there? I'd love to see them, too."

" Mum and Junsu will be there, and Suri and her husband, too. That's about it."

" And Jungkook and Jimin and Link."

Jungkook laughs. " Right, Jungkook, Jimin and Link."

" It's a plan."

Driving down route 5 in the Jeep with the windows down and Link's giant head out the back window is becoming a normal activity for Jungkook and Jimin. It seems like they spend every spare minute driving up and down this motorway, finding new spots to eat at, places to hike, water for Link to explore, or sleazy bars that make them swear they'll never drink again. Jungkook is driving down the familiar road, mini road trip coming to a close as they approach their destination, but this time, Jimin is positively giddy with excitement. He hasn't been to Jungkook's family's lake house in years, nor has he spent an abundance of time with the Jeon family in quite some time, and he imagines it'll feel like coming home.

And he's right.

The second they pull up at the house, Nari comes running outside with her arms open, smile plastered to her face, and Jimin always tends to forget just how much Jungkook looks like his mum until she's standing right in front of him. He pushes open his door to the Jeep, stumbling when Link jumps out and knocks him over.

" That dog seems like he's still growing," Nari jokes, pulling Jimin in for a hug.

" My wallet would agree. Dog food is expensive." He buries his head into her shoulder. She makes him miss his own mum. " It's so good to see you." he mumbles.

She rubs his back in between his shoulder blades. " Ah, I've missed you, Jimin."

He pulls away, his embarrassed that his eyes are actually misty, and Jungkook takes over, hunching over to wrap his arms around her.

Jimin starts unloading the Jeep as Jungkook catches up with his mum, Junsu eventually joining them, and they make their way inside, arms full of clothing and food.

" Are you moving in?" Junsu asks, raising an eyebrow, unloading the sixth bag of shopping onto the kitchen counter.

Jimin tosses a bag of hot dog rolls at Jungkook, who manages to catch them after fumbling twice. " Hey, be nice to guys who brought a weekends worth of food."

Junsu points at Jimin but looks at Jungkook. " He's not cooking, right?"

Jimin throws his hands up in the air.

" I burn Easy Mac once and that's all people remember."

" Jimin, you didn't add water. And it's Easy Mac. It's, like, impossible to fuck up."

" Who's side are you on, Jungkook? Huh?"

" The side that doesn't ruin microwaveable Mac-n-cheese."

" I'm going to drown you in the lake."

Jungkook laughs. " I dare you."

Jimin doesn't drown Jungkook in the lake, but he does slap him so hard on the back while Jungkook is asleep on his towel that he leaves a handprint. And Jungkook lets him off easy, only dunking him in the lake twice.
