Darlin' Dos

Poppy, Holly, Smidge, Aggie, and a couple of other trolls were in the middle of playing a fun round of Troll, Troll, Bergen. Smidge was it as she kept patting each troll's head while saying, "Troll, Troll, Troll," for a while. Aggie quietly whispered to Poppy, "Man, is it normal for a troll not to pick a Bergen for 20 minutes straight"? Poppy replied, "No, but this is Troll, Troll, Bergen deluxe." Smidge then kept repeating Troll until she tapped Holly, shouting, "Bergen"! Holly got up and chased Smidge as fast as she could while Smidge tried to avoid getting caught. They jumped over hurdles, leaped over a glitter gator pit, and ran through some hoops on the ground. As Holly was mere inches from tagging Smidge, the tough pop troll slid into an empty spot, shouting, "Safe," while some of the trolls around her cheered. Holly chuckled and said, "all right! Ay'm it, y'all," as she started to tap their heads while saying, "Troll." However, the minute she tapped Poppy's head, Holly stopped and suddenly found herself in awe of Poppy's soft, magenta-colored hair. She slowly ran her hand across it, saying, "Poppy...your hair," as the pop leader became confused, starting to ask, "Uh, what about my-," but got interrupted when the Country Ambassador shushed her. She continued saying, "The texture, the body, ooh! The follicle integrity"! Aggie watched this while feeling a little bit uncomfortable, saying, "Uh, Holly, I don't want sound like Branch, but...it's just hair. There's nothing extraordinary about it." Holly turned to face Aggie while saying, "Gerl, ya haven't done lived until ya've felt Poppy's locks! They're thay best, softest, ayn' prettiest follicles ay've evuurr come across"! Holly then turned to face Poppy again as she said, "Oh, Poppy. Ay've told Melody this befawe, but when it comes ta hairstyling, ay considuurr myself ta be an amateur professional. Will ya let me do your hair"?

Poppy thought about it for a minute before pulling out a panner, saying, "Hm, let me check my calendar. No, it doesn't look like I'm scheduled to turn down the greatest idea I've ever heard! So, yes,"! Holly was getting pretty excited as Aggie got up, saying, "This ought to be interesting to see." Holly dragged Poppy and Aggie over to Country Corral and placed the pop queen on a nearby stylist chair. As she placed a cape around Poppy, Holly exclaimed, "Then, saddle up, partner! "Cause we're about to put some woo-hoo in that hairdo"! As Holy went to grab some supplies, Aggie took this moment to ask, "Poppy, are you sure about this"? Poppy smiled, replying, "I am 100% sure about this. Besides, this not only provides some quality bonding time, but it can help me figure out if I want Holly to help style my hair for the day of the wedding." Poppy made a good point because ever since Branch proposed to her on Trollsmas Eve, they worked together to plan a huge wedding. While they worked together on decor, decorations, themes, venue, etc., Branch and Poppy were also handling some things separately. For example, Poppy was having Satin and Chenille design and made her dress while determining if she either wanted Holly, Maddy, or Melody to style her hair for the big day. This could help her out with this decision: if things go well, of course. As Holly returned with her supplies, she got started right away with styling Poppy's hair, singing a catchy tune while working as Aggie watched in anticipation and curiosity.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Like We Do Back Home~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Holly: You'll be pretty as a peach when I'm through with you!
Poppy and Holly: Gonna give my girl a down-home do!
I'mma do it up nice, just the way we like. A little extra sugar, a little extra spice!
Holly: I'm gonna brush it, gonna fluff it, gonna get it standing up! Like we do back home! Like we do back home! I'm gonna lift it, gonna twist it, set it with a final spritz! Like we do back home! Like we do back home!
You'll be strutting through the town, looking extra fine!
Poppy and Holly: 'Cause I rock the do' since I know it's mine!
I'mma style it up nice, just the way you like! Girl, you'll be in for a big surprise!
Holly: I'm gonna cut it, gonna gel, 'cause it's gonna be super swell! Like we do back home! Like we do back home! I'm gonna comb it, gonna tease it, gonna ruffle, dry, and squeeze! Like we do back home! Like we do back home! Like we do back home!
As holly finally finished, she removed the cape and gave Poppy a mirror, saying in excitement, "There! What do ya think"? Poppy looked it before her eyes widened in shock. Her hair was huge! Vast! Enormous! The sight of it made Aggie's jaw drop, and the other country trolls around them stop to stare at it. In disbelief, Poppy said, "Wow! It so...big," as Holly happily replied, "Ay know! Bigger than a Country Troll mile"! Aggie had to walk back a bit to get a good look at the whole thing, saying, "It's probably bigger than Techno Reef and Lonesome flats put together"! Poppy looked into the mirror again as a bird, comically, flew into her hair, as Holly awaited to see what Poppy thought of it. Unsure of what to say, Poppy forced a smile, saying, "I...love it," and her response seemed to make Holly extra happy. Melody and Buckaroo were collecting some sticks and rocks for an important forest project when they heard Aggie calling their names. When Melody turned and saw Aggie and Poppy coming to them, Melody smiled and said, "Hey, Aggie, Pop- holy trolls"! Buckaroo turned around while saying, "How'd y'all's little gerl trip with Holly go- bacon-wrapped hotdogs! Poppy, what in tarnashun done happened ta y'all's hair"?! Poppy struggled to not fall over from the weight of her heavy hair and tried to keep her balance as she replied, "I let Holly do my hair, and it turned out like this, which I love"! Melody could see right through the lie as she crossed her arms and shot a suspicious look, asking, "You hate it, don't you"? Poppy wobbled around while saying, "Not exactly, but what I do love is getting to enjoy some BFF bonding with her through hair care! Ah," as he fell over, laying flat on the ground.
Aggie hovered over the laid out pop queen while displaying a look of concern as she said, "Poppy, be honest with us." The pop queen cried out while saying, "Guys, it's so big! I can barely walk without almost tumbling over! It's so heavy! I feel like my neck can't support the weight! And it's been hard to go anywhere without blocking any troll's vision by accident." As Buckaroo helped Poppy up, Melody commented, "Poppy, speaking from my experience as a stylist, while I don't want to sound all Branch-like at this moment, let me just say: it's your hair! Style it the way you want"! Poppy then gasped and said, "And undo Holly's do?! No way that would crush her! Aggie, you saw how happy she was when I told her I liked it. I can't just undo it and tell her I don't like it." Buckaroo then said in a serious tone of voice, "Believe it aw nahwt, Poppy makes ayy solid point faw once." Aggie replied, "What do you mean," as Melody asked, "Shouldn't Poppy have a choice of if she wants her hair to stay like that"? Buckaroo tipped her hat while saying, "See, Melody ayn' Aggie, whahl y'all are both correct on the fact that Poppy does have the raheet ta undo the do if she wants ta, but... it's nahwt ta say Holly will take it too fondly. In fact, you could risk getting hit by one av huurr dreaded guilt trips." Poppy asked in confusion, "Guilt trips? What do you mean by that"? Buckaroo grew serious as she stated, "Thay kind ov trips where ya don't stop ta buy souvenirs. These emotional heart stops ken renduurr y'all weak at thay knees ayn' make trolls feel incredibly guilty ovuurr what they have done. Ayn' Holly's, in particular, are the mowst hard-hitting. She has ayy special knack faw a-makin' trolls feel guilty awful long enough that it hurts too much ta move aw even speak. Ay remember when Gust Tumbleweed fawgot ta RSVP ta huurr party when she unleashed them six little words that knocked him emotionally out cold faw ayy whole day.
When he got there ayn' done tried ta apologize faw fawgetting, she replied in huurr mowst hurt tone av voice, "Ay'm nahwt mad, Ay'm just disappointed. " He was struck with the full blow ayn' couldn't do anything faw the rest ov the day, othuurr than wallow in self-pity ayn' shame, that is." Aggie and Melody shuddered in fear as Aggie replied, "I would not want to get struck by a guilt trip," as Melody added, "You said it. I don't think even Val being angry would top that." Poppy, who started to struggle again, said, "Well, no feelings are going to get hurt. Whoa! In time...ah! I'll learn to love my big hair." However, as Poppy's hair tilted back, it made her roll away like a bowling ball as Aggie followed her, hoping that maybe she could be of any assistance. For most of the morning, Poppy's hair has made it hard for her to do anything like she normally did. While Val understood her situation when Poppy told her after hitting her head on the table multiple times, Val found it hard to conversate properly with Poppy. Before she left, she commented, "If Holly's big hair is bothering you, have Melly cut it for you, and you should be back to normal in no time. Peace Out." Then, when Poppy went to the opera to watch a show, her big hair made it hard for any of the trolls in the back to see, and she had to leave because it was too troublesome.
Then, just when she thought she found the perfect spot, the hair's weight made her roll off a ledge and landed in the lake with a huge splash. Meanwhile, Melody was helping Buckaroo bring their supplies over to her place when Melody felt something attach to her prosthetic leg. She looked down and became surprised to see Poppy latched onto her leg, shouting, "Please help me," and giving her a heartbreaking/pleading look. Aggie, who was almost out of breath, running after Poppy, shouted, "Poppy! Slow...down...please," as she stopped to catch her breath. Buckaroo commented, "So, Ay'm gonna guess that there it's only gotten worse"? Melody then said to poppy, "Ok, I'll help you, but get up and please put away that look for when you really need it. My heart's gonna snap if you keep it up any longer." Buckaroo and Aggie helped Poppy stand up as the Magical Musical Troll asked, "But Poppy, what about Holly? If she sees you without the do, what are you going to tell her,"? Buckaroo stated, "Ay wouldn't go a-lyin' ta the gerl because soonuurr aw later, the trouble will all come back ta ya in one awful big accident." That seemed to give Poppy a great idea as she said, "Buckaroo, you're a genius! If I set up a scenario that looks like a freak accident happened, like slipping on a banana cupcake accidentally, slid uncontrollably, and fell right into the jaws of a hair-eating crunch clover, I'd have no choice but to change it. Hmm"? Buckaroo did not seem impressed as she stated, "Ay've done heard ayy lot ov crazy things, but that there has ta be the mowst whacky idea on this here side ov Trollstopia that there ay've evuurr done heard"!
Aggie commented, "Yeah, I have to agree with Buckaroo on this one, Poppy. That's a crazy insane idea, and I don't even need to rely on you-know-what to know that this plan will fail either way." Melody added, "Yeah, you should just be truthful to Holly. Despite being hurt, I am sure she'll understand." But Poppy was determined, saying, "Luckily, this won't be a lie because we are going to make it happen for real! Follow me, girls," as she ended up rolling away again. Melody shot a look at Buckaroo, who slumped over, saying, "Ay know. Ay should've just done kept my awful big yapper shut." Suddenly, Aggie felt a vision coming as she saw Holly, in her pod, looking at her, Melody hurtfully, and guilt-tripping her before it played what looked like Melody falling over and yelping in pain. As Aggie returned to normal, she saw Melody and Buckaroo running after Poppy as she shouted, "Hey! Wait up," while flying after them. At a hair-eating crunch clover, Aggie was set up in tossing the cupcake on the ground, much to her dismay. She tried to tell poppy, "Poppy, I didn't think this is going to work," but got interrupted by Poppy telling her, "Just give it a try." In frustration, Aggie sighed and imitated being clueless, saying, "Well, that's enough cupcakes for now. I guess I'll toss this anywhere," as she tossed it on the ground. Poppy ran and slid on the cupcake, aiming for the clover's mouth, but just before she reached it, she somehow stopped sliding, just bare inches away. Melody facepalmed while hiding behind a bush, asking, "Would it not be easier to just put the cupcake next to the plant"? Poppy retorted back, "Yeah, 'cause that's not suspicious enough. Take two," as Aggie and Melody groaned while Buckaroo commented while tipping her hat to cover her eyes, "Ay'm never gonna live this here day down."
After about 99 failed takes, on take 100, Poppy slid on the cupcake and was successfully able to have her big hair land in the clover's mouth, who took a huge bite and bi the big hairstyle right off. Melody, in shock, said, "Wow. I can't believe that actually worked," as Aggie added, "Now, all we can hope for is that Holly is "buy" her story." Buckaroo scoffed, saying, "Ay'll bet she catches Poppy's act within five minutes av that there story." Back at Country Corral, Poppy found Holly and was telling her the crazy story. Buckaroo, Melody, and Aggie hid behind a huge water trough, so that way, they could remain hidden and hopefully not be caught as Poppy's accomplices. As for Holly, at first, she seemed to buy the story as she first said, "Aw! That's awful! You loved that big hair"! While Poppy kept the act up, Aggie said in disbelief, whispering, of course, "I can't believe it," as Melody added, "She's actually buying it. We might actually pull this off." Buckaroo smiled, whispering, "Ay nevuurr did thought ay'd see thay day she believes ayy wild tale like that there." Then, they saw Holly first calmly say, "Don't you worry, Poppy. It's not your fault," before angrily shouting, "It was whoever discarded that banana cupcake's fault! And Ay'm gonna find 'em"! She then let out a familiar whistle as Buckaroo snuck out from behind the water trough and lept over Holly's house, landing in between the two, saying in her best acting voice, "What seems ta be the problem"?
Holly explained, "We got a mystery ta solve, and ay needs ya help! Follow me,"! As Holly led the charge, poppy first shouted Buckaroo's name as the detective turned her head and whispered, "Naw wawries. Ay done got ayy plan," and winked at Poppy before following Holly. Melody and Aggie joined up with Poppy as Aggie shouted, "What is she doing," with Melody adding, "Buckaroo's gonna get us busted if she sees the crime scene"! Poppy tried to reassure them, saying, "Don't worry. Buckaroo said she has a plan, but let's just hope that it's a good one," as they went to find Holly and Buckaroo. At the "crime scene," Buckaroo had her magnifying glass out and was looking at the cupcake, saying, "Hmm. Y'all ken tell by thay ...uhh splattuurr av cupcake frosting is that there whoevuurr done drop it did nahwt mean too. This here was purely ayy crahm av accident. Ayn' look at these taheet skid marks. Whahl a-tryin' ta balance ta awful big hair, ay'm darn sure Poppy did nahwt see it ayn' slipped on it like an ice skater on ayy frozen pond. So, there's naw need-ta blame any troll faw this here because this here were only an accident." Holly then replied in frustration, "Yeah, but someone, accident aw nahwt, done dropped it, ayn' ay wanna faand out who"!
Holly then picked up the cupcake and took a look at it, saying, "Whel, ay know one thing raheet now! Whoevuurr done this here has golden glittuurr fingerprints"! In the bushes, Poppy and Melody both shot a suspicious look at Aggie as she whispered whole, raising her glittered arm in defense, "What did you want me to do?! How was I supposed to know that the glitter would stick"? While Holly kept looking at the cupcake, Buckaroo said while putting her magnifying glass away, "Gee, Holly. Aside frawum these skid marks ayn' those there glittered fingerprints, there don't seem ta be any othuurr viable clues. So, there's naw surefere way av a-knowin who done this here deed." Holly then squeezed the cupcake while saying, "Ay know who done this here. Ayn' it hurts me ta even come ta this here conclusion. Come on," as Buckaroo asked, "Where are we a-goin'"? Holly replied, "Ta give our culprit the guilt trip ov ayy lifetahm," as both country trolls left the crime scene. Poppy, Melody, and Aggie nervously followed them, but surprisingly, lost track. Poppy agreed to try and track them down, going as fast as her feet could make her go.
As Melody and Aggie regrouped in Aggie's pod, the Magical Musical Troll kept pacing in fright, saying, "Oh, this is bad! If she finds out, we did it. We can kiss our emotional structure goodbye! She'll guilt trip us into the next century"! Melody calmed her down by saying, "Ok, breathe, breathe. I'm nervous about this too, but, so far, Buckaroo has done a good job misleading Holly. I heard from a nearby bird that Holly went to question Dante but found nothing. So, we are still in the clear. Besides, even if Holly questions Buckaroo, there's no way she'd never fold. She's tough and strong-willed." Aggie then shouted, "Yeah, but she's also super honest. She never lies to anyone, not even to help a friend. One way or another, Buckaroo will end up telling the truth, and what will happen when she does"?! Melody shrugged it off, saying, "Hopefully, that doesn't happen. I mean, what would she even look like if she got guilt-tripped"? That question was about to be answered when both trolls saw Buckaroo stumbling in, looking really, really weak, almost like she got shot. They both rushed to help her in as Aggie asked, "What happened," as Melody added, "Who did this to you"? Buckaroo groaned and had a hand over her chest as she softly said, "Sawry, gerls. Ay done folded in when the pressure became taheet. Save yourselves befawe ya go through thay ...uhh same fate as me."
Aggie and Melody gulped in fear, but before they could even make a run for it, Holly was standing in front of the doorway, with a frightened Poppy behind her, and Holly did not look too pleased. Aggie and Melody hugged one another and shook in fear as Holly approached them slowly, saying, "Ay see, you two look like you're about to go somewhere. funny seeing as you're about to go on...a trip." Melody gulped as Aggie was trembling, saying, "I'm sorry"! Holly continued her "rant" by asking, "Tell me, something. Do you both know how long it takes to get really big hair"? They both quickly nodded in response as Holly added, "Whel, at least ya know something, but even with y'all's smarts, y'all still fail ta notice the little things, like tossing cupcakes on the ground, ta even considuurr the commitment it makes ta get really, really big hair"! Then, just before Holly could fire "the look," Melody stood in front of Aggie, taking the full hit herself, exclaiming as she dropped to a knee while holding her chest, "Ah! The pain of the guilt"! As Holly came closer to the duo, she then changed her tone from anger to sadness as she exclaimed, "Poppy loved that big hair, y'all. She loved it! And after years of being a good friend to you, this is how ya repay her"?! Protecting Aggie again, she took another direct hit, falling back first, just like in the vision earlier, yelping, "It hurts...too much...to bear."
Aggie then saw Holly coming face-to-face with her as the Magical Musical Troll winced in fear, awaiting what would be a brutal guilt trip. But it never came because then Holly stepped back and covered her eyes in shame, saying, "Oh, who am ay kidding?! Ay could nevuurr guilt-trip y'all, Aggie, even if ay wanted ta"! Aggie slowly lowered her hands as she asked, "Wait...so...you forgive me"? Holly shook her head before saying, "Ov course. Besides, ay already done knew because Poppy had done told me thay truth whahl ay was guilt-tripping ol' Buckaroo earliuurr."
Flashback to about 15 minutes ago...
Buckaroo dropped to the floor as she was suffering through one of Holly's powerful guilt-trips after "confessing" that she knew who was behind the incident but could not say due to the guilt's pain. She approached the fallen detective and was about to deliver the final, soul-crushing blow when Poppy stood in between them, shouting, "Stop," at the top of her lungs. While Holly looked at Poppy confusingly as the Pop Quee sighed, saying, "I told Aggie to drop that cupcake. So I could slip on it. and I had Melody and Buckaroo help keep it a secret...so you wouldn't find out." Holly was surprised as she asked, "Poppy? The architect of your own do's undoing? But why"? Poppy sadly explained, "Because...I didn't like the hair." Holly seemed heartbroken as Poppy continued with, "Sorry, Holly. It was just too big, and I didn't want to hurt your feelings. And despite what my friends had warned me, I should've just told you the truth from the beginning so they wouldn't have gotten swept into this mess as well. But now, I realize that what I did was silly. I mean, we are good friends. and when good friends tell the truth, it doesn't hurt their feelings."
Holly then placed a hand over her chest as she first sadly explained, "Well, actually, it does hurt my feelings. Real bad." But then, she reassured Poppy by saying, "But, Poppy gerl, sometimes, feelings get hurt. But Ay'll get over it. After all, it's your hair. You should style it however ya see fit." As they both reconciled, Holly then saw Buckaroo still in pain from feeling the guilt as she got a good idea on how she could alert Aggie and Melody that she was coming to see them. She walked over to the suffering Buckaroo and said in her most hurt voice, "Ay'm not mad, Ay'm just...disappointed." Buckaroo felt so much pain, she stumbled out of the building and crawled her way over to Aggie's pod to warn Melody and Aggie about Holly's arrival.
End of flashback...
"So, aftuurr Buckaroo done went ta faand ya guys, Poppy ayn' ay done followed huurr ayn' we done came ta y'all. Ay know ya guys meant whel when ya was a-tryin' ta help Poppy" Aggie smiled and said while relieved, "Phew. For a second there, I thought we were about to get the worst guilt-trip of our lives. But if you already knew before you came to us, why did you try to guilt-trip Melody and me anyways"? Holly chuckled while answering, "Because ay done thought it'd be fun ta give ya both ayy little lesson about what ya done might face the next tahm ay actually do guilt-trip ya." Aggie then found herself chuckling as she said while holding a hand over her beating heart, "Consider it effective because I don't ever want to go through something like that again." Poppy nodded, saying, "Me either, especially when it's happening to my friends." Then, the trio saw Melody and Buckaroo still feeling the effects of the guilt trips as Poppy apologized, saying, "So sorry I got you both guilt-tripped." Holly picked them both up, bringing them into a hug, while saying, "Ha! Ay got ya both good! Tell ya what. Ay'll find some way to make it up to ya. Especially you, Aggie, because ay don't think ay can like with myself if ay saw ya crying in fear because of me." Back at Country Corral, Melody was riding on top of Buckaroo, looking out at what looked like a huge track full of hurdles, with red rubber balls being tossed all around. Melody, who was wearing a white cowgirl hat, said, "Now, this is what I call a fun game"! Buckaroo tipped her hat while saying, "Yep, ayn' unlike Poppy, we have naw problem a-tellin' thay ...err truth about how we feel. So ya bettuurr believe me when ay say...Ay love it," as she stood on her hind feet before charging onto the track, with Melody shouting "Me too"!
As Buckaroo jumped over the hurdles, Melody would leap up and kick the balls away so they would not hit them. This was a wildly popular game that the Country Trolls called Hurdle Ball, and for those two, they easily forgave Holly because this was their favorite game/Melody's new favorite game. As for Aggie, with some convincing, she allowed Holly to style her hair. Once the Country Troll finished adding the hairspray and removing the cape, Holly gave her a mirror and asked, "What do ya think"? As Aggie looked and saw that she now had a comically large ponytail, ten times the size of Holly's, she said in her most opinion, "Holly...I love it"! She fawned over how cute it was, imagining how Trollex would react if he saw her with this wild hairdo. At that moment, a bird landed on the top of her ponytail, making her roll away while absorbing Poppy with her, the pop queen screaming as Holly watched in confusion and shock.
