Chapter 10: Split Up (Pt. 1)

A/n: This chapter was originally going to come out in a few chapters from now but, I decided I needed to give the quints and Fuutarou their first big challenge they have to get past. This will probably take 2-3 chapters so that's what's coming next for the story. Hopefully I could finish this soon.

3rd Person Pov.

Its been a week since the quints met Fuutarou's dad and they were all living fine together in their apartment. Fuutarou was sleeping in today since he was up all night getting the worksheets and other materials for the quints tutor session ready. It was a Saturday morning and Nino and Miku were making breakfast for the whole group. It's been a routine for a few weeks now, Miku and Nino making breakfast, the rest of the quints sleeping in or doing other things, and Fuutarou sleeping in from all the preparation he's been doing. The quints were all awake this morning though, and just like other weekends, they were wearing Fuutarou's hoodies. Itsuki, Yotsuba, and Ichika were all in the living room playing a board game and were trying to pass the time. They could smell the scent of the breakfast that Nino and Miku was cooking and their mouths were watering. Fuutarou was sleeping soundly upstairs on the futon with the blanket draped over his whole body.

As Miku and Nino finish up cooking their breakfast, Fuutarou started to wake up. He then went back to sleep after checking the time. The quints set up the table and were getting ready for breakfast. Yotsuba was also making her way upstairs to go wake up Fuutarou from his sleep. But, before she even reached the first step of the stairs, a call from the lobby came up that someone wanted to come up to their room. Itsuki went over and answered the call and asked who it was. Miku heard a little of the conversation and was trying her best to get more of the conversation. The whole group was silent until Itsuki hung up the phone and turned around.

"Bad news girls, Papa's here." Itsuki said in a worried tone.

"What do we do?" Miku asked worriedly.

"We should just let him in, he's probably only going to be here for less than thirty minutes so we should be fine. Fuutarou needs the sleep anyways." Nino suggested.

"Ok sure. Let me tell the lady down there to let him in." Itsuki said.

The quints were getting nervous at the thought of their dad coming up. They wanted him to know they're dating someone but they don't want him to split them up. He would for sure split them up if he knew it was Fuutarou. The quints were ready to take this chance though. If they didn't let him in, then something would definitely be up and their dad would find out. At least they have Fuutarou's dads support on their dating.

"Ok, he's coming up now." Itsuki said.

The quints all gulped and were getting ready for a unexpected meeting with their step-dad.

The quints dad came up shortly after Itsuki announced that he was coming. He knocked on their door and the quints let him in.

"Morning Papa! How are you?" Yotsuba cheerily asked, trying her best to act like herself.

"I'm fine. How are you girls?" Maruo asked in his professional tone.

"We're all good Papa." Nino answered.

"Those are some new hoodies you're wearing. Did you just buy them?" Maruo asked.

"Yep, we sure did Papa." Nino said.

"If you don't mind me asking Papa, why are you here today?" Itsuki asked.

"Well I want to spend some time with my daughters. Is there anything wrong with that?" Maruo said.

"No problem at all, just wanted to know because you're usually never here." Itsuki replied.

"Dang it, he's going to stay here for a while." Itsuki thought.

"I see have breakfast ready. Mind if I join you?" Maruo asked.

"Sure! I don't see why not." Yotsuba said.

Maruo made his way over to the table and noticed the six plates set up.

"What's with the six plates here? Did you know I was coming?" Maruo asked.

The quints were silent.

"Ah that, I must of miss counted the plates. My bad." Miku saved all the quints.

"Ok, just try not to make those mistakes again, ok?" Maruo said.

"Will do Papa." Miku replied.

"Ok, let's start eating." Maruo said.

The quints all sat down at the table and said a little prayer with their dad. Once they were done, they all grabbed their own servings and started eating. As they did this the quints were a little bit quiet and were silently hoping for Fuutarou to not wake up and that their dad should leave soon. But, the latter of the two never happened. The first option unfortunately, did happen. On the floor above them, a high school boy has just woken up from his sleep was starting to make his way downstairs. He was walking down and each of his footsteps were heard by the quints. All of them were panicking on the inside hoping that it wasn't real. Fuutarou finally made his way to the first floor dressed in his pajama pants and a hoodie and was rubbing his eyes.

"Why did no one wake me up?" Fuutarou groggily asked.

The quints all turned towards Fuutarou with Maruo also turning his gaze towards him.

There was silence throughout the whole room while they were staring at Fuutarou.

Fuutarou finally opened his eyes fully and looked at the table. He noticed that they were all eating with a man that looked familiar. After some thinking, he realized that it was the quints step father. He was shocked and stood there staring back.

"Uesugi, what are you doing here." Maruo asked in a dark tone.

"Well um, I kinda slept over here..." Fuutarou replied.

"Why are you here." Maruo said again, this time standing up and facing him.

"Look I can explain-" Nino tried to chirp in but was cut off by her dad.

"Silence Nino, I want to hear what Uesugi has to say." Maruo said.

"Well sir, um... I uh..." Fuutarou was trailing off. He looked over to the quints for some help.

There was a long silence between all of them.

"Fine, girls you can explain since he will not." Maruo said while not leaving his gaze on Fuutarou.

"Well dad we um..." Nino said.

"Yeah we uh..." Miku continued.

"We are..." Ichika followed.

"Um... we are..." Itsuki said next.

"We are dating Fuutarou." Yotsuba said it shortly and a bit quietly.

There was a silence between the group as Maruo started to process the information.

"You're what?" Maruo asked shocked and in an angry tone.

"We're dating Fuutarou." Yotsuba said more quietly this time.

"Excuse me but what?" Maruo said. "I hire him as your tutor and all of you start having a relationship with him?"

"Well um... We all really like him." Miku said quietly.

"You know what, no. Uesugi, you're fired from your job. You can go pack your things and leave this apartment. You are never to come near my daughters again. As for you girls, you are all living with me until we move you to another school." Maruo said grimly.

The quints and Fuutarou stood there shocked. They didn't say a word. After some silence, Fuutarou decided to not make things worse and went back upstairs to pack his bags. The quints were starting to cry a little bit at the sight of their boyfriend leaving.

"You girls are grounded for a whole month once we reach my apartment." Maruo said while leaving. "Once you are ready come downstairs and I will drive you. I'll worry about your things later."

The quints say there without moving. What were they going to do? They could try and convince their dad but that would be impossible. They also didn't want to lose Fuutarou.

Fuutarou came downstairs after packing his bag and went over to the door. He looked at the quints one last time and started to look really sad.

"Come here. I'll miss you all, but I promise to see you again. Just try your best to convince him, ok?" Fuutarou said while all the quints came over to him.

They all gave him one last hug before they would never see Fuutarou again.

A/n: What a chapter. I'm excited to write this to show how the quints and Fuutarou will try and get back together. Sorry to leave you on a cliffhanger but I had to. It just has to be done. Also, these next few chapters for the Spilt Up chaps with be coming very soon. I'm on a tight schedule to make the Halloween chapter (oops spoiler) and the chapters are going to come out very quick for the next week or so.
