"~Birds flying high~
~You know how I feel~"
Glinting in the slowly rising sun the sabre came slashing down on my head, accompanied by a roar of rage, and yet, despite the deadly weapon approaching me I couldn't help myself but hum a song that, strangely enough, had suddenly appeared at the forefront of my mind while I had descended on the street behind me like a force of nature in and of itself.
Twisting out of the way with nothing but the twitch of my hip I spun out of the way of the blade while my face carried a serene smile on its lips. Weird, I know but I can't help myself. This is just so much fun!
"~Sun in the sky~
~You know how I feel~
Breeze drifting on by~"
With slight amusement I watched as the pirate stumbled forwards, after missing his target, namely me, all the while cursing to the high heavens in his rough voice. That though soon came to a stop as soon as I carved a thin line over his back with my glinting arm, causing the man to naturally scream out in pain.
Jumping up after coming out of my pirouette I descended onto the man and buried both of my legs like tent poles in his arms, nailing the man to the ground after which I decided I had had enough fun and pierced the man's heart with my still blood covered arm.
After the now dead man below me had come to a still I straightened my back again and removed my appendages from the dead man's body. Taking in my surroundings I continued to hum and decided to slowly walk back towards the ship of the marines.
Throwing one last glance back onto the street covered by bodies, scrutinising my handywork with a glint in my eyes, I couldn't help the small step in my walk at the fun I had had. Not for killing all those men, gods no! But the fighting… dear god I think I've found my purpose in this world!
"Heh, never thought the day would come for me to become one of those lunatics… oh well, it is what it is and there are worse things than death so don't worry guys, you'll be fine!" I spoke to the people laying behind me all over the street, my newly formed smile never leaving my face, something I certainly would have to get used to.
Marching back the way I came from I hoped this was as far into insanity as I would descend but for the moment I didn't really care all that much. After all, how did Michael Bublé put it?
"~It's a new dawn~
~It's a new day~
~It's a new life~
~For me~
~And I'm feeling gooooood~"
Whatever may have come over me and my sanity, I'll think over all that crap later. For now, I'm going to enjoy myself some more. Hopefully the bloody marines hadn't sacked all the pirates yet…
Rob POV
I admit, as ashamed as that made me feel, I had been terrified when we rushed down the ship to engage the pirates in the small town. Thoughts like: "Would I survive the next few hours? Would I get hurt? What would it feel like?" and all that went through my head like a never-ending maelstrom that had pretty much threatened to swallow me whole.
While I had been busy dealing with myself though, I had lost sight of Daz. Where he had went of to I had no idea and honestly? I didn't care much. All that had plagued my mind was to survive somehow.
And, luckily, I did. With the adrenaline pumping through my veins I had made sure to always stay behind the taller men and women as cover and once I had had the chance grabbed myself a gun and some bullets from one of the more unfortunate marines that had served as my cover.
While gunning down all that attacked me I had taken in the scene around me, naturally.
I've never seen such carnage before. Obviously, I emptied my stomach not soon after putting a bullet through another attacking pirate. Whatever happened afterwards is nothing but a blur to me though.
Now, sitting here, my feet dangling over the pier I was happy that all of that was over. And yet, my resolve to do something about such things was only strengthened and I was kind of happy that I had made another step further into the direction of becoming someone that was able to change the world and cleanse it from all…this.
With a shake of my head I tried to rid myself of all those thoughts, deciding to focus on happier things, like surviving for example. Though, while shaking my head softly my eyes caught a short human walking down the street in between the villagers and marines who were cleaning up the whole mess.
There was Daz, though contrary to me he must have chosen a more melee-oriented fighting style as he was covered from head to toe in bloody sprinkles and streaks.
Once again, I couldn't help but compare myself to Daz and it annoyed me that I came up short in comparison once again. Before I could voice my thoughts in a mumbled curse though my eyes spotted something that sent a shiver down my spine, something I had never seen Daz doing before. Daz was smiling and that combined with all the dead bodies littering his way painted a picture I doubt I will forget as long as I live…
