Later in the day as Kaitlynn was at the mall with the other cadets.
Cecilia asked " So what was so urgent you asked all of us to meet up here".
Kaitlynn says " Well you guys probably don't know but tomorrow is Wyatt's birthday ".
Charlotte says " Strange, he never mentioned it before ".
Kaitlynn says " That's because he never got the chance to celebrate with any of his friends . So he probably never mentioned it".
Rin says " So you want us to help throw him a celebration ".
Kaitlynn says " You guys are all friends with him , right".
Charlotte says " Well he did help keep my secret for a while , so I owe him something ".
Cecilia says " I have to say the two of us are acquaintances, but I can help".
As the other two girls agree with Cecilia , Laura says " Do you think we should tell Ichika ".
Charlotte says " Probably not , he might accidentally tell Wyatt".
Cecilia ask " Kaitlynn, I know Wyatt summarized how you two meet . But why did you fall for him".
Kaitlynn says " As you know my dad was working at the same hospital Wyatt was several summers ago. But what you don't know is that my dad put me in charge of making sure he didn't escape ".
Charlotte says " Wait escape, so did he try to leave".
Kaitlynn says " Wyatt was somewhat of a punk when he was younger. He somehow fought several middle schoolers with only getting a broken leg. Yet he would try to break out".
Cecilia says " I'm actually surprised , he usually seems pretty level headed. Expect for his hair and that doctor "
Kaitlynn says " Anyway , I spend my summer hanging out with him in the hospital and most of the time I annoyed the hell out of him. But for some reason when it was time for me to leave he would always say ' see you tomorrow'. Even though he put up a tough front, he actually seemed to love my company ".
Charlotte ask " So exactly how can we help with this surprise ".
Kaitlynn ask " Do any of you know how to bake".
The next day as the class had arrived at the resort . Due to lack of rooms , Ichika and Wyatt were roomed with Ms Orimura.
Later at the beach Ichika says " Man it's been awhile since I've been at the beach".
Wyatt chuckles and says "Yeah ,Well time for me to get to work ".
Ichika noticed his roommate was carrying a bag on his side. The Japanese boy asked " So I want to ask , what's with the bag".
Wyatt opens up the bag to reveal several art tools and says " I never told you this but sculpting is a passion of mine's ".
In that moment Wyatt got to work on his sculpture as Ichika went to do his own thing.
A couple hours passed as Ichika finished a game of volleyball.
Ichika thought " I wonder how Wyatt sculpture is doing".
The Japanese teen went over to where he last saw Wyatt and was amazed at his roommate's sculpture. It was a knight with a blade in the ground.
Ichika asked " Wow man this is incredible".
Wyatt says " Well I'm almost done so can you take some pictures for me".
After Wyatt passed Ichika a camera, the Japanese boy took several pictures of the sand sculpture.
Ichika asked " I don't understand how this is almost done , it looks perfect ".
While Wyatt was backing away from the sculpture with a remote in his left hand , he states " How do you think art should be Ichika. Should it be persevere for eternity or last for a moment ".
Ichika took several moments to think and responds " Well since art is in museums, it should be eternal right".
Hearing this, Wyatt chuckles and says " In the eyes of some yes. But to an artist like myself , True art lies in a single moment ".
Ichika then sees Wyatt presses the remote causing the sand sculpture to explode.
Shocked at what happened Ichika shouts " Why in the hell did you blow up your own sculpture ".
With a smirk Wyatt responds " Whether because of nature or another person, it would've been destroyed. So I added in some small scale explosives to do the honors myself ".
Ichika asked " Then where did you get the explosives ".
Wyatt says " You've met the doc , so you should already know that answer".
Ichika say " How in the hell did that man become a scientist and still has his license ".
Wyatt says " As much as I hate to admit it but the man gets his work done".
In the evening as Wyatt and Ichika were in the hot springs , the American asked " So do you notice something's weird with the girls today".
Ichika says " Well something was off with Houki ".
Wyatt says " No not that , it seems the girls were making sure I spent as much time as possible on the beach today".
Ichika says " Yeah after you blew up that sand sculpture, they forced you to play 10 games of volleyball ".
Wyatt says " Not only that but I didn't see the she devil until dinner. With a beach trip I thought she definitely would've tried to show off".
Ichika says teasingly " Let me guess, did you want to see her in a bikini ".
Wyatt says " That's rich coming from a guy that spent the afternoon groping a girl and ogling his own sister ".
The two guys laughed at how ridiculous the day was for the both of them. After they finished their bath and headed to their room , Miss Orimura said " Danforth , I forgot to mention but happy birthday ".
Ichika surprisingly says " How come you never mentioned it was your birthday ".
Wyatt says " There was no need to say anything. I never celebrated with friends before ".
Chifuyu says " Well you have a gift from Argento on the table".
As Wyatt looked at the table , he noticed it was a tin of sweet potato pie. With the tin was a note that read.
" Happy birthday, you dumb octopus ".
Wyatt took a fork and started to eat the pie. The only thing he could think was " This is actually not too bad".
Ichika says " So have you finally accepted you love Kaitlynn ".
Wyatt says " Shut up I don't have feelings for her. This pie is causing me to blush due to how spice it is".
Ichika says " Really , then you won't mind if I have a bite".
Instinctively, Wyatt grabs the tin away from Ichika and says " Fat chance , she made this for me so I'm not letting another guy eat it ".
The two guys looked at each other in silence as they realized what Wyatt just said.
Chifuyu says " So can you two stop staring at each other, it's getting pretty weird ".
Ichika says " It's obvious you like her , and it's even more obvious she's in love with you. So just tell her".
Wyatt pouts and says " That's the pot calling the kettle black".
Ichika confusedly asked, " And what do you mean by that".
Wyatt sighs and says " Never mind , look I'm going to walk around for a bit. So don't wait up".
As the American left the room he saw Houki and Rin spying from the corner.
Heading out into the front of the inn Wyatt takes a deep breath.Under the star filled sky ,Wyatt thought " Why can't I tell her".
