Edward is listening as River tells him about her childhood. "What happened to your family?" River look down for a second brought back up her head. "They disown me; because of the man I love." Edward was very curious, "where you in love with someone else. Before Mal?" River just shake her head back and forth, "there was other boy's. But none of them measured up to the man I love deeply." Edward could understand that, he wanted to meet his one true love. "You see when I me and Mal had meet I wish it had been under different circumstances." Edward lifted his head up at that one. "I was dating someone; who I don't like at the time. We both just don't get along at all. We fight all the time, it was the same way with Mal and his ex-girlfriend at the time Inara. She slept with every boy in school of course. Then I find out about him cheating on with Inara in a closet. Happened to be out shopping by myself. He roughly grabbed my arm very hard. Pulling me behind an alleyway and he had two of his friends hold me down. His hands were underneath my skirt. I was crying and screaming for help. I watched as he pulled my panties all way off and he was getting ready to take off his pants. When Mal punch him across the jaw very hard. His friend let my arm go and try to help him. But Mal was in a fury rage, he elbow him in the gut hard. The other friend tried to help him out too. But Mal grabbed him by the throat and slammed him up against the wall." River had tears in her eyes; she had let some tears fall from her eyes. She just couldn't stop crying; without having to relive that day.
Edward had hugged as she cried her eyes out. He just couldn't stop thinking about the what if, what would have happened, how Mal hadn't been their to save her in time. River had her head on Edward shoulder. But then Edward said; "mom, you shouldn't have to feel guilty for something you hadn't done anything wrong." River is shocked to the core. But she would forever be thankful to her husband for saving her life. Edward finally pulled back, he couldn't believe what had come out of his mouth. He had called her; "Mom?!" But she wasn't upset with Edward at all. River decides to finished up her tale about her and Mal life. "After he had saved my life, he held out a hand to me and I take it. Then these weird electric shock, went through my whole body in no time. Same thing had happened to him as well. He made sure I was safe, when he walked me home from the alleyway making sure I was safe and sound. After he had stopped at the front door; he had whispered in my ear. I'll protect you; with my life. From that day forward he would always make sure that I was safe. Then much later on it was a friendship between us two. We sit together, he even made sure I had lunch with him. Some time later on my sixteen birthday. He had brought me a present, it was a necklace. I loved it very much; then after our first dance. He lean down and kissed me. Like I had never been kiss like that in my whole life."
River eyes were very wide, she hadn't forgotten her and Mal first kiss together as a couple. "I laid my head on his shoulder. Both of us continue to dance that night. Then we both started to kissed all over again. I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck. Both us continue to dance and kissed the whole night away. That was the best night of my life. He had given me; so much more that night then he realized at the time. "we had a really good first date. Then after six months of dating we take our relationship up to the next level. We both slept together after my junior and his senior year prom night together. It was a very special night, we both realize that we love each other very deeply." River had never forgotten, what a night it was. "Right, before Mal graduation. We had both discovered that I was four to six weeks pregnant. We both were very scared at the time. We don't know anything about having to raise a baby." River don't regret having Bella at an early age. "Both of our family where very disappointed and angry with the both of us. They both were yelling and screaming at us. That it was a sin to have a baby out of wedlock. But they tried to force me to either have an abortion or put our baby up for adoption. By the time I and Mal had gone to the hospital for an ultrasound. We saw our baby for the first time." River had seen Edward; Bella pictures of her still in the womb.
Edward couldn't keep the smile off his face. He remembered some of his life with his mom. But it's been a long time since, Edward had thought of his mother. Both of them are looking through baby pictures of Bella. River had told him; that after Bella was born. Her and Mal decided to get married as she was still pregnant at the time. Bella baby pictures, school pictures, holidays and birthdays of all kinds. Even Mal graduation from the police academy and his service in the last thirteen years. Edward couldn't believe that, everything that this family had been through over the year's. He had to admitted, they Mal and River have a strong and deep love. Plus there was a strong family bond, that everyone had their backs.
