Wishing you a very merry Christmas

Chapter Eight

Colonel James Reeves, Captain Lee Crane and Commander Rosemarie Crane walked through the corridor leading to the west missile room holding the Flyer in berth inside the hatchway.

It's been a while since the flyer had been used with all of the new modifications having been made by the Nelson Institute and the Pentagon. Chief Francis Sharkey was asked to come to the west missile room to help with showing off the flyer and the different things it can do.

Orders had come down from Nelson and Communications as well to have all three of the flying subs ready for departure to the island and the marines lead by Colonel James Reeves. When they walked inside. Colonel Reeves was rather impressed with the Flyer and just how big it was looking to his blue eyes. "Wow! And you say that it was found on some alien world?" He said...

"Correct Colonel. It's a long story, however I will be able to give you the short version with you, myself and the team for this flyer when we take off." Lee said with a crooked smile..

"How hard is it to flyer this thing Captain?" As he looked over to Commander Crane looking over the modifications made with the wings as she called them.

"Hard. One wrong move and this flyer will crash into the hull of this submarine. The flyer has a great deal of power once we get started up into the atmosphere."

"Commander Crane did you flyer this vessel?" Colonel Reeves had to asked with the question to the commander smiling.

"Oh, no! I am not generally a pilot but rather a communications specialist and inventor. I was able to figure out how to use the intermix device with the flyer flying into another reality or rather vortex opening up into another universe of sorts." She will have said with Reeves unable to understand what she was talking about in the first place.

"I guess Captain Crane, you will have to explain the short version to me while we take off in this thing?" He had stated with rubbing his head with having a slight headache.

"Of course! I suggest that you tell your marines to get ready for the trip. There is going to be a briefing with everyone in the main conference hall on level C. Admiral Nelson will be able to explain the entire situation to everyone with going to the island sooner than later."

As everyone left to get ready. Captain Lee Crane waited for Colonel James Reeves to leave with his escort. He needed to talk with his wife in their quarters. He wasn't pleased with her altitude.

When they reached their quarters letting two crew quarters go by first before entering. Once inside...Lee turned to face her not believing the way she had been behaving. "It was a mistake Rosemarie for you to be here. I can't believe you're altitude for when it comes to Colonel James Reeves."

"Are you serious Captain you're jealous because I can't look at you like that way, the way I used to years ago when we were dating? To tell you the truth Lee I haven't been happy the past few years. I am sick and tired of always being held back with my work instead of playing mother to two boys that just don't really care for me." She was angry and venting with her emotions with her husband being thrown the truth of the matter.

"Why did you bother to come abroad in the first place knowing this was going to happened with the fights? I told Admiral Nelson that I didn't want you abroad the Seaview. However instead you're been playing the field with Colonel James Reeves and now I have to fly him and his marines on the Flyer?"

"Too bad Lee. I am just tired of you treating me like a toy at times when ever I try to work on my projects like with the Chair in Houston, Texas."

"I don't have time to be arguing with you over this Rosemarie. I have to changed into my fatigues for the mission and briefing. So I suggest you do what is necessary to stay out of my way before I take off in the flyer."

There was a message coming in from the new communications center down below. "Answer it Commander Crane." He ordered with Rosemarie heading over to the intercom. "This is Commander Crane what's up?" She asked with her response.

"Sir there is a message coming in from Darien from his home planet wishing to speak with you about your little problem in Houston, Texas." Lt. Girald Roberts said over the intercom somewhat confused as to what was happening between the two.

"I will be there in five minutes Lt. Roberts. I do hope you were able to place the call on hold?" She said with moving out of the quarters while Lee went to move into the bedroom to change and angry at the same time.

Meanwhile Commander Rosemarie Crane was excited with the prospects of finally having the answers to her project in Houston, Texas.

When she reached the communications center. Lt. Roberts switched the frequency to her station in order to let Darien speak to her.

"Go ahead Darien this is Commander Crane. What do you have for me from your science specialists?" She asked with the drag in time with the communications from his planet and Earth.

"I have your answer to your problem with the chair. I will be sending the changes in the design flaw through your radio shack to have it changed over and placed on a special tape with the formula. Once your scientists or engineers are able to make the change over. The chair and your pilot will be able to make it through the vortex. I guarantee it Rosemarie."

"I hope so Darien. Thank you so much I really don't know how to appreciate this and your people?" She said to him over the communications terminal.

"Just be sure that it works and be successful Rosemarie. I know that a lot of people were probably upset that the project didn't work along with a great deal of money no doubt?" He said from his living room quarters on his home planet...

"No kidding! Now I need to talk with Admiral Nelson on whether I will be able to get the funds for the changes and continue on with the tests. Thanks again and I will talk to you soon. Over and out Darien." She said with waiting for his response.

"Over and out whenever that means?" He ended the communications to meet up with his family outside their home...
