Early the next day Danny and Belle were on the way to meet Abra. She gave his free hand a squeeze as they pulled into the motel that they had decided on to meet with Abra earlier. The young girl was sitting next to a blue door on the ground, looking up as she heard his car pull in, she took her earphones out.
Belle looked over to Dan, giving him a quick smile before they both hopped out of the car. Dan jogged over to Abra, pulling her into a tight hug.
'I was so worried.' Dan said, releasing Abra from his grasp.
Abra smiled. 'Please don't worry about me Uncle Dan, I can look after myself.'
She glanced over to Belle, before taking a few quick strides and holding her in an embrace as well. Belle held her tightly, before stepping back. Abra looked back at Dan, then again to Belle as she grinned, knowingly. 'You two are good for each other.' She said simply.
Dan chuckled as he led Abra into the car, opening up the back door for her for the long drive ahead.
After some time, Abra awoke in the back seat, groggily she looked out the window, taking in her surroundings. Belle was gazing out the side window, head resting on her right hand, the other hand loosely held Dans on her lap. It was starting to get dark outside.
'Sorry.' Abra stated, as Dan looked over to her. 'Dozed off.'
'No, you earned it.' He said, matter-of-factly. His eyes fell back to the road.
'Where are we?' She added.
'Ohio.' Replied Belle, now staring straight out the front windscreen.
Abra looked back to Dan. 'Where are we going?'
'Colorado.'
Abra looked confused. 'Why Colorado?'
Dan shifted in his seat; brows furrowed. 'It's gonna keep coming. Always.' He stated, looking at her through the rear-view mirror.
'This only ends if we end it, and I don't think we can beat her. Not by ourselves. There's a place, a place that's dangerous for people like us.' Dan added.
Belle looked over to him, raising her eyebrows. 'The place you told me about. The other day?'
'The angry place?' Abra added.
Dan nodded his head. 'Yeah.'
Abra looked confused. 'If it's so dangerous why would we go there?'
"If it's dangerous for people like us, I expect it's dangerous for people like her. Maybe even more so.' Dan reasoned, his hands gripping the wheel.
Abra stared down at her feet. Her eyes dark. 'Good.'
'She's following us you know.' Belle started; her eyes closed. 'I can sense her.'
'Yeah good, let her.' Dan nodded. Taking in the moments silence between the three.
He spoke up. 'Sorry about your father.'
'Sorry about your friend.' Abra replied softly, her eyes watering.
