Alright, enjoy the chapter!
Annabeth
After an hour or two more at the beach, when it was two, Annabeth decided that it was about time to go. She stood up and yelled out to her brothers to get back to the shore. Annabeth brushed the sand off her hands and once her brothers got back to where Annabeth was, the four of them walked back home.
They got home and her brothers went off to their rooms to go do their homework. Matthew and Bobby knew that because they got to go the beach while Annabeth was in charge, they had to do their homework after they got back.
Calypso wouldn't be back for an hour so that left Annabeth a good amount of time to kill and she didn't know what to do. She had no homework, since she finished it all ages ago, even the extra credit work. She hoped Neptune would be available to talk, because whenever she spoke with him time always went by really quickly.
Annabeth sighed and sat down on the living room, bored. She was ADHD so Annabeth got bored pretty quickly and hated to just sit still and do nothing. Annabeth sent a text to Neptune, in hopes that he would text back soon. But alas, he did not. Neptune must have been busy or spending time with his family.
She tapped her fingers against her thigh as she attempted to figure out something to do. After a few minutes Annabeth decided to go out to Hestia's Hearth and hang out there for an hour. She doubted that it would be an hour of no boredom, but it would probably work for around twenty minutes, which was better then just sitting around and doing nothing for an hour instead of forty minutes.
Annabeth headed out once again and walked towards the coffee shop. After a little bit of walking, Annabeth reached Hestia's Hearth. She walked into the warm shop and headed up to the counter to order some coffee.
After paying for her coffee, Annabeth went to sit at a table off to the side and out of the way. It wasn't long before she got bored again and wasn't sure what to do.
Annabeth looked around at the people inside the coffee shop. There was the elf looking boy that she had seen at her school several times. There were also two people, one girl and one boy, that looked like siblings, they both had light blue eyes, blonde hair, and tan skin. The only difference that you could tell from far away was that the girl had freckles and the boy didn't. The next person was the farthest away from her, he had raven black hair that again, she unfortunately recognized as Percy Jackson.
She hoped that she wouldn't be noticed but she doubted it. Somehow, she always ended up where Percy was at and he always noticed that she was there, even if they were far away. If Percy was able to notice Annabeth while at a beach, then he would surely find her in a small coffee shop with barely any people in it.
Annabeth sat at her table for ten more minutes, without being noticed and drinking her coffee. Like at the beach, she was approached by Percy who had a huge grin on his face.
"Hey Annabeth!"
She sighed quietly and looked up at Percy's sea green eyes.
"Hello, Percy."
"How have you been?"
"I am alright."
"Do you want to hang out later today? We could to central park or something."
Annabeth stayed silent for a while, thinking it over. She didn't like Percy, but for some reason she decided that she wanted to hang out with him. After a bit longer, Annabeth responded to Percy.
"Sure. We can go to my house instead."
"Sounds awesome Annabeth! When do you wanna go?"
Once again, Annabeth was silent for a bit while she thought about it. "Is fifteen minutes fine?"
Percy nodded and his lopsided grin grew. "I'll come back in fifteen minutes then Anniebeth."
Annabeth scowled at Percy when he said the nickname and snapped at him. "It's annabeth."
Percy rubbed his neck sheepishly and nodded. "Got it, Annabeth."
She nodded at him, pleased by his reaction. Annabeth knew that she could be a bit scary to people. Percy walked out of the shop, probably to do something to pass the fifteen minutes. Annabeth chose to wait fifteen minutes before going to hang out at her place because she wanted to order a muffin and finish it at the shop.
Annabeth went up to get a muffin and the fifteen minutes passed quickly. A minute early, Percy walked inside the shop and made a beeline towards Annabeth's table with, like every other time, a large grin.
"Lead the way Annabeth."
She got out of her seat and gestured for Percy to follow her. Annabeth walked quickly to her house with Percy behind her, attempting to get in pace with her.
"Annabeth, what kind of stuff do you like?"
Annabeth was surprised at the sudden question but also not surprised, since it was Percy.
"I like architecture and reading."
"Anything else?"
"Mythology too, I suppose."
"Oh hey, I like mythology too! What kind is your favorite? Mine is Greek."
"Huh. So is mine."
"So is that why you knew all about Athena when we did that project?"
"Yes, but it was also because I'm smart and Athena was on a test so obviously, I studied things about her."
The two reached Annabeth's house and she opened the door for Percy, gesturing for him to go inside.
Percy spun in a slow circle to look at the house while Annabeth sat down on the couch. Percy soon joined her on the couch and started to speak to her again.
"You have tons of books here. Have you read all of them?"
"Not yet. I still have five left to read."
"Really? That was more of a joke. How do you read so much?"
"I enjoy reading so I read whenever I have free time and I feel like it."
Percy nodded and looked over at all the books in the room while looking surprised and a bit impressed that Annabeth managed to read that many books.
Annabeth wasn't planning on trying to talk with Percy herself, so she didn't say anything and just waited for Percy to start asking questions about her again.
"Do you have any pets?"
"No, I don't."
"Me neither. I really want a dog though."
"I don't really love any animals, but an owl or a cat could be nice."
"Owls? They seem to hate me. My mom and I went on a vacation once and all the owls I saw while we there tried to attack me. Horses and sea animals are wayyyy kinder."
Annabeth snorted at the thought of an owl trying to attack Percy on sight. It was a funny image.
"Owls always seem to love me."
"Lucky. Do any animals despise you how owls despise me?"
Annabeth thought about it before nodding. Percy raised his eyebrow curiously when she didn't actually say what the animal was.
"Spiders don't like me."
Percy nodded and they both heard the door open and looked towards who entered, and it was Calypso. Annabeth went over to say hi while Percy just sat there.
"Hey Annie"
"Hey Calypso. This is Percy Jackson. Percy, meet Calypso. Calypso, meet Percy."
Percy also sat up and went over to say hi. "Nice to meet you Calypso."
"Nice to meet you too!" Calypso smiled at Percy, who smiled back. That slightly irritated Annabeth for who knows what reason, but she just ignored it.
Annabeth looked at Percy then back at Calypso. They were both just staring at each other. It was weird and Annabeth didn't like it very much, so she decided to break the silence.
"So. Calypso, why don't we go hang out together?"
Calypso turned to Annabeth after a moment and nodded. "With Percy? Sure!"
Annabeth was getting quite annoyed by that first bit of what she said. She didn't like that Calypso seemed so interested in Percy. Annabeth gritted her teeth and nodded as well.
"Great. Do you want to stay here or go out somewhere?"
"Maybe just stay here. What do you think Percy?" Calypso looked back at Percy and waited for his answer.
"Yeah, let's stay here."
Annabeth sat down on the couch, Calypso sat down next to her and Percy sat down next to Calypso.
"So, Percy, I've seen you around school, but I haven't really spoken with you. What's your favorite class at school?"
"Greek Mythology is probably the less evilest class. How bout you? What's your favorite?"
"Greek Mythology is great! Mine would be theatre. Acting is really fun."
"Theatre is cool too. Math and literature are the worst."
"Oh, we could try out for a play together if you want, Percy!"
Percy nodded and gave her a lopsided grin, which just made Calypso grin more. Annabeth felt awkward as the two of them talked and laughed together. She didn't say much the entire time and she felt even more irritated the more the two of them talked.
Finally, after an hour of irritation, Percy announced that he had to go. They said goodbye and Calypso turned to Annabeth with a bright smile on her face. "Percy is awesome, Annie."
Annabeth nodded with no expression and Calypso continued.
"He's really funny, cares about animals, sweet, he's amazing!"
Annabeth just nodded again and rested her chin on the palm of her hand, listening to Calypso continue, again.
"He even knows some great musicals! Did you know that he likes blue food?"
She sat up straight when Calypso said that, surprised by that. Annabeth knew one person who liked blue food, and it was really odd that two people liked blue food. She didn't think Percy was Neptune though. That would be ridiculous. Percy drives Annabeth insane and Neptune is her best friend.
Annabeth looked at the clock on the wall and saw that her parents would be home in a few minutes. She sat up to go check on her brothers.
"Hey, where are you going Annabeth?"
"I just have to go check on Bobby and Matthew, I'll be back soon."
"Alright, hopefully they aren't summoning a demon!"
Annabeth chuckled a bit and went up the stairs to get on them. After making sure they were fine and there weren't demons that were summoned by chanting Latin backwards, she went back downstairs to Calypso and they both continued to talk. Calypso would bring up Percy every few minutes, which irked Annabeth. She attempted to steer the conversation away from Percy each time, but it didn't really work.
They both talked until it was nine, and time for them to head to sleep since they had school tomorrow. Annabeth got ready for bed and Calypso wanted to text Percy a bit before she headed to bed herself. When Percy was over, he had given Calypso his number. She got irritated again. She realized that she had been getting annoyed a lot.
Annabeth fell asleep after a few minutes of lying down, and she was actually excited for school, unlike basically every other kid on earth.
