A young jet black haired teen opened the door to his room. Walking to his mount he dropped off his rocket launcher and put his sword on his hook. Walking to the mirror he looked at himself. His charcoal colored long sleeve dress shirt and black dress pants had minor holes in them. He washed his face to get the grime off from his last job. He unbuckled his combat utility belt and looked and noticed his five pouches were empty of dust.
'Used more than I expected to. Well what can you do when you run into three Ursa Majors and a pack of Beowolfs. I should hurry and get changed, sister will get pissed if I don't see her first thing back' He thought to himself as he looked at his black combat boots. "Son of a, going to have to replace these" He said to himself.
He quickly undressed and took a shower. Stepping out he put on a simple silk long sleeve and loose black jeans. He left his apartment and headed down the street until he came to a building called "Economic Hall". He opened the door and went straight to the second floor and down the hall till he came upon a door with a sign designated as "Junior Advisor". He opened the door and saw a girl sitting at a desk filling out papers with a smile on her face humming a tune. She looked up at the sound of the door closing and a wide smile grew on her face.
"Brother! You're back, it's great to see you are still in one piece" She said as she rushed and gave him a hug.
"You know sis, it's only been a week since I left, but I missed you too" He said as she broke the hug.
He looked at his sister and noticed her dirty blond hair was in a half up half down braid. She was wearing a long-sleeved black coat with a standing collar which had a magenta bow tie around it. He noticed the coat had two rows of gold buttons on the front, light green details including the shoulder epaulets which had a fourragère passing under and around her right side. She moved into full view of him and he saw she also wore a pair of white gloves and a armband on her left arm with the village's eagle symbol and a white web belt with a gold waist-plate around a standard black skirt with dark gray thigh-high socks and knee-high black boots.
"I see the tailor came through with the outfit you requested" He said.
"Yes she did. Doesn't it look good" She said as she gave a little spin.
"Of course, it fits you well. Whoever you wed one day sis is going to be lucky" He said compliment her.
"Well duh, of course they will, I mean look at me" She said with a chuckle. "Just hope they can stand my confident attitude"
"I don't know, you are asking for a lot there" Her brother said as she punched his arm.
"Arminius you're a jerk" She said with a laugh.
Arminius handed his sister a stack of paper, "Reports are filled out and ready to be sent up for review and here is the Lien I was payed"
"Wait you just got back, how did you write your report?" She questioned.
"I finished a day early and they were kind enough to give me a computer and I decided to write it then rather than later" He explained.
"I see. I'll get these filled with the advi-" She was cut off by the door opening.
"Excuse me Miss Thusnelda the couci… Oh Mr Arminius you're back, that is great. Would you two please come with me to see the council. They have summoned you and now that you are back Mr Arminius they would be delighted if you joined as well" The girl explained.
"Of course, lead the way" Thusnelda ordered with a smile.
The trio left the building they were in. Arminius looked around and saw two similar sized buildings to his ten and two o'clock. The one on the left was the Culture Hall and the one to the right was the Hall of Defense, both parallel to the biggest building in the town square, The Great Hall. The trio went straight across the street to the Great Hall and entered through the main doors. They walked straight to the second floor and came upon a door that led to the Council Session Chamber. When they entered, three figures sat at a table. In the middle was a woman in her forties, The Councillor of Economics. To her left was an older man in his fifties, The Councillor of Security. To her right was a younger man only in his thirties, The Councillor of Culture.
"Ah Mr Arminius we had heard you returned. I'm glad you came along with your sister, this will make things much easier. Please step forward" The female Councillor said.
The escort left and the siblings stepped in front of the Councillors.
"Now to get straight to business, there is a man that has come to see you two specifically. He said he… may have an offer that would benefit us" The woman said.
"We want you to see what he has to offer and if you believe it is beneficial, bring the case to us so we can discuss it more in detail" The older male said.
"Since you are to be the leader of this village as soon as you reach the age of twenty one, think of this as practice since you will be doing these very things" The youngest Councillor said.
"Of course Councillors, we will see what he has to offer. Where is he?" Thusnelda asked.
"He is in Mr Arminius's office on the third floor, you are dismissed" The woman said.
The siblings left the room and headed upstairs to the third floor. They walked to the middle of the hall and opened the door to the head office. Entering they saw a grey haired man sitting in front of the desk that was there. He stood up and faced the twins once hearing them enter.
"Ah, I am glad to have finally met you two. I am Professor Ozpin" He said as he put his hand out.
Arminius reached his own out and shook it, "Arminius Adler and this is my sister Thusnelda, pleased to meet you. Please have a seat Professor" He said as he gestured to the chair.
The grey haired man sat back down and put a leg over the other. Arminius took a seat at the chair behind his desk while his sister stood off to his right.
"So what brings the great teacher of Beacon to our little village way down on the furthest island south of The Kingdom of Vale?" He asked.
"Well it caught my attention that a particular tribe has been selling their services of protection to the coastal towns and villages of The Kingdom of Vale against Grimm and raiders" Ozpin explained.
"Did the Council send you?" Arminius questioned.
"No, I am here of my own volition. I wanted to know what caused you to not be raiders like most other tribal villages on the mainland of Vale" Ozpin said.
"Our tribe has seen the brutality of barbarians and what they bring on the populace. Only looking out for yourself can only get you so far until everybody you wrong decides to gather strength and wipe you from existence" Arminius said as he stood up and walked to the window behind him. "We believe in helping others to help ourselves. By doing this not only do you create relationships in good faith but can exchange our services for currency or materials we need. We wish to create a safe home for our people and others as well if they wish to join us but that is later down the line. As of now we wish to build a Combat School for young boys and girls to be able to train and fight Grimm and if necessary other Humans and Faunus that decide to bring harm to the innocent" Arminius finished as he turned to face Ozpin.
"Now Professor we were told you had come here with a possible offer, could we please get to this, we don't want to be wasting our Councillors time" Thusnelda said.
"Yes of course. Now that I know your intentions are whole and true, I would like to make an offer, one that would help you create this... Combat school you speak of" Ozpin said with a light smile.
Arminius looked at him and then to his sister. She gave a little nod and he turned back to Ozpin.
"Professor Ozpin, follow us" Ozpin ordered.
The trio left the office and went down stairs and entered the Council Session Chamber. Upon entering the three councillors turned from discussion and faced the trio.
"Ah, it seems you have brought our guest. I assume he must have a good offer" The female Councillor said.
"Yes Councillor, I believe his offer is worth hearing" Arminius declared.
"Well then, please step forward and present your case" The older male Councillor requested.
"Mr Adler here has confirmed to my intelligence that you wish to build a Combat School. I believe it to be a grand idea. I wish to offer help to achieve your goal" Ozpin explained.
"This is an interesting proposition… how would you be able to help us?" The youngest Councillor asked.
"Through your deeds, you have caught the attention of the Council of Vale, but they don't seem to think of you much more than a mercenary tribe that would take any job if at the right price. I wish to help you change their outlook on you" Ozpin explained.
The Councillors talked amongst themselves for a minute till they gestured to Ozpin to continue.
"I have just started a new year at Beacon about a month ago. The Vital tournament is in three months and I would like to offer Mr and Miss Adler here to take part in the tournament and if they proceed to impress, I would like to offer them a spot at my school for the next 4 years " Ozpin declared.
"Professor, you must understand that Arminius is set to be the leader as soon as he is of age and his sister, his advisor. Why would we have them take the time to do this instead of preparing for their responsibilities in the future" The female Councillor asked.
"Think of it like this. You send these two to the most renowned Academy in the lands to participate in an event that is celebrated by all nations on Remnant. If they perform well, they would be showing the skill sets that your people have and would spread your opportunities for more jobs. If they enter my academy then they would be showing that your intentions are not that of mercenaries for hire but of people who want to help the world as a whole which would change the opinion of the Council of Vale of you" Ozpin said as he took a sip from his mug.
"With the Council seeing you as people that are out to help others, if you were to present the case of wanting to have a Combat School they may be willing to help fund the project. Now with these two attending my school for the next four years. It would be beneficial to them as a person for more knowledge and training. They would also graduate right at the time Mr Adler becomes of age to take the role as your leader, but he and his sister will have grown and fit their position better after graduating from my school" Ozpin finished.
"And what would you be getting out of this?" The older male counselor asked.
"Mainly I just want to give the opportunity for talent to be nurtured as well as you would be helping Remnant produce two more qualified hunters" He said.
The Councillors were silent for a moment, "Please step outside Professor, give us a moment" The female Councillor requested.
Ozpin left the room as the siblings turned to the Council.
"I think there is more to his benefit than he is letting on, not lying but just not the full truth" Arminius said.
"I have to agree, we would be getting a lot out of this, but him almost nothing. I say we accept this offer with caution. While you are there, you two can gather more information on his intentions. This would be a great benefit to us" The older male Councillor said.
"Yes I have to agree, but we must stay vigilant in-case of any ill intent. Progress was never gained by those who sat around idly" The female Councillor declared as the last Councillor nodded his head in agreeance.
"What say you two?" The female Councillor asked.
The siblings looked at each other and thought for a moment until Thusnelda nodded.
"We'll go and represent our village and tribe," Arminius declared.
"Okay, retrieve the Professor" The council declared.
Arminius walked to the door and got the professor and brought him back to the table.
"We have decided that we will accept this offer professor, when will these two need to arrive?" The old male Councillor asked.
"Excellent. Mr and Miss Adler are to arrive at Beacon in exactly two months when the second term begins and other students from other Kingdoms begin to arrive as well. I look forward to their participation,"Ozpin said with a smile.
"You may leave Professor" The female Councillor declared.
Ozpin left the building and walked to the Bullhead that had brought him to the island. He entered with a smile and set off back toward Beacon.
Onyx was gathering another jar of sap from a tree in Forever Falls as Pyrrha came up behind him.
"How many do you have left to fill Onyx?" Pyrrha asked.
"This is my last one, what about you and Nora?" He asked.
"Almost done, just a few more to go" She replied.
"Ya know, if you would have told me that a month and a half into Beacon we would be collecting sap, I wouldn't have believed you" Onyx said with a chuckle.
"It's not so bad, at least it's not another test like last week" She said.
"Only because it was Oblecks class. That man talks faster than Ruby can run on five cups of coffee. Thanks though, for helping me study for that one" Onyx said with a smile as he stared at her.
Pyrrha grew a light blush, "Of-of course Onyx anytime" She said.
A silence grew between the two for a moment.
"W-well I better get back to Nora and finish. Hopefully she didn't eat all of our work" Pyrrha said as she got up.
"Here could you take mine, I need to uh… need to number one real quick. I'll catch up in a bit okay" He said as he held the jar out.
"Sure, be careful" She said as she left.
Onyx started to leave the area to a more secluded part. He walked for about three minutes and found a secluded bush.
"Here…" Onyx heard to his left as he whipped his head around.
"Follow…" Onyx heard the voice again.
Onyx's face grew into one of annoyance. He dashed towards the familiar voice from his head. He ran and kept following the voice as it spoke every thirty seconds. He ended up running for five minutes till he reached a tree and caught his breath.
"What do you want!? Where are you huh!?" Onyx yelled.
Onyx got no response, but started to notice a bluish purple fog come out from his stomach.
"What the fu-AHH!" Onyx screamed as the fog formed into a female human face.
Onyx fell to the ground and backed into a tree.
"I'm closer than you think" The fog figured face said as it moved toward Onyx and disappeared when it touched him.
'What the actual fuck is going on with me!?' Onyx screamed inside his head.
Onyx sat there for a moment till he heard footsteps coming his way. He jumped into the nearest bush and hid. Two White Fang soldiers appeared as they looked around.
"I definitely heard a scream of some sort over here" One soldier said.
"I told you, probably just an animal getting attacked by a Grimm, they are in this forest remember. Come on let's go before the boss gets pissed at us" The other soldier said as they both began to walk away.
Onyx slowly emerged from his bush and began to follow the two soldiers. They walked for five minutes till they came upon a small gathering with more soldiers and an orange haired man in a bowler hat.
'Roman Torchwick? What's he doing here?' Onyx questioned himself.
"Ah finally, the last idiots finally join us" Roman said.
"Now to make sure you understand your orders… You there, what is the objective?" He questioned a soldier.
"To capture 15 Beowolfs" A female soldier said.
"Good now… You, where will you bring these Grimm?" He questioned another.
"To the designated spot in the Emerald Forest" A male soldier replied.
"Good. Now I myself will not be there but there will be a stand-in for my part to overlook the transfer. Do not mess this up you animals. Now Neo, if you would please" Roman finished as a short pink and brown haired girl came into view.
She stuck her umbrella in front of herself and Torchwick and suddenly shattered to glass and disappeared from sight. Onyx decided he heard enough and would look more into this latter. He left the area. He started to jog back to the group. He had been jogging for five minutes till he saw what looked like Pyrrha frantically looking for something.
"Pyrrha, what are you doing out here?" He asked.
Pyrrhas head snapped to Onyxes voice.
"Onyx! You're alright, thank goodness" She said with a sigh of relief.
"Of course I am why wouldn't I be?" He asked.
"We have been looking for you for the past fifteen minutes. I went back to where you were and you were not there, then I heard a scream and ran towards it this way and wasn't able to find you. You could have been kidnapped or even killed for all I kn-" She was interrupted by Onyx pulling her into a quick hug.
He pulled away but kept his hand on her shoulders.
"Pyrrha I am fine, okay? I am sorry for worrying you like that, I'll try to not do it again okay?" He said with a sincere smile.
"Jeez Onyx, you better. You need to stop being so reckless. What would I do without a partner?" She asked.
"I don't know, guess you would just have to be expelled from Beacon"Onyx said jokingly
Pyrrha gave Onyx a blank stare with killer intent.
"We-welp better get back to the group ya know" Onyx said with a hint of nervousness as he headed back towards the group.
Pyrrha shook her head and smiled and ran to catch up.
Pyrrha was walking the halls till she ended up in front of team RWBYs dorm. She knocked on the door.
"One seconded!" A voice yelled from inside.
The door opened revealing Ruby.
"Oh hey Pyrrha, what's up?" She asked.
"Hey Ruby mind if I talk to you?" Pyrrha asked.
"Sure come in!" Ruby said happily.
Pyrrha walked in and took a seat on the chair while Ruby sat on the desk. She noticed both Weiss and Blake were reading while she heard the shower going thinking Yang must be in there.
"So what's up?" Ruby asked.
"You're a weapons nut right?" Pyrrha asked.
"You bet, why wh-...youneedhelpwithaweapondontyou!?" Ruby screeched as she practically jumped on Pyrrha.
"Woah! Ruby calm down. Down girl" Pyrrha said as she set Ruby on the ground
"Sorry sorry. You just got me excited" So what can I do for you Pyrhha?" She asked.
"Well I was wondering if you could design a weapon and a shield for Onyx and have them made. You don't have to worry about paying for them" Pyrrha explained.
"Okay no problem, but why didn't Onyx just come to me, I don't bite!" She said with a smile.
'Somehow I doubt that' Pyrrha thought to herself, "I wanted to make this a surprise for him" She told Ruby.
"Awww that's so sweet of you. So what type of weapon?" Ruby asked
"I was thinking of a sword that was able to turn into a bow. Could you do that?" Pyrrha asked.
"Can I do that? It's me Pyrrha, give me a sec" Ruby said as she forced Pyrrha out of the room.
Pyrrha stood still and started to hear loud hammering noises in the room and even some power tools, 'Was that a chainsaw' she asked herself.
The door flew open and Ruby stood proud with a piece of paper in her hand.
"So what do you think?" Ruby said as she pushed the blueprint into Pyrrhas face.
Pyrrha looked over the design and a small smile grew on her face. She also liked the little added touch on the shield.
"It looks great Ruby, thank you. Do you know who can make this?" She asked.
"Don't worry about that. I know a guy. I'll pass it to him and let you know when it's finished. My guess is probably a month" Ruby said.
"Well thank you again Ruby" Pyrrha said as she walked back to her room.
Pyrrha opened her door and walked to her bed.
"HEY PYRRHA!" Nora said as she jumped out of hiding.
"Ghaa, damn Nora, don't do that!" Pyrrha said.
"Sorry, sorry" Nora said as she laughed and Pyrrha walked to her bed.
"So, when are you getting your gift for Onyx?" Nora asked.
"Wh-what are you talking about?" Pyrrha said, caught off guard.
"Oh stop, I know you have been looking for a gift for him. Then I just heard you and Ruby talking about it so now it must be true" Nora explained.
"It's not a gift, just a weapon and a shield so he doesn't rely on his semblance as much" Pyrrha said.
"Well if it wasn't a gift, you probably would have brought this up to Ren and I buuuut you said that you wanted this to be a surprise for him so it sounds like a gift to me, a very caring one at that as well" Nora chimed happily.
"What do you mean?"
"Ohh come on Pyrrha, you are getting him a weapon so he doesn't exhaust himself as much during a fight for his sake, it obvious you care for him and don't want him to hurt himself" She explained.
"We-well we are partners and a team so of course I care for him" Pyrrha said in defense.
"Uhh huuh" Nora said as she got up and sat next to Pyrrha, "Are you sure?" Nora questioned.
"Uhh we-well I don't know Nora. Does it look like that?" Pyrrha asked.
"Yes it does. I see you with him a lot joking and chatting and you go out of your way to help him when you can even when you don't have to" Nora explained.
"I dont know Nora, I haven't ever thought about this type of thing before. My life has mainly been fighting and being famous even though I never really wanted it. This is new" Pyrrha explained.
"Well give it some thought and just be yourself. There is nothing to be nervous about. If you want to give it a try then try. If it doesn't work then you can at least say you tried. Just give it some thought. I'm taking a nap" She said as she left Pyrrha's side.
Pyrrha laid down on her bed and rested her arm on her head.
'Do I like him? I don't know. What if this just a friendly feeling and I try something and it ruins our friendship and partnership, it could ruin the team. What if he feels the same as I do? Would he? I need time to think, this is hurting my head' Pyrrha thought to herself as she closed her eyes to try and get some sleep.
