In Peter's Office
Peter was reading a document when his secretary called the office's phone. "Mr. Florrick, there is a gentleman here requested to see you. He said his name is Don. He said you would recognize him."
"I have to leave for the press conference in 15 mins. If he could make it quick, then send him in."
Don? Do I know a guy called Don? Peter couldn't figure out who was.
*Knock Knock*
His secretary opened the door "Mr. Florrick, your guest Don is here."
"Thank you." Peter was still looking at his document when he said that. He looked up to see who that guest was, and his eyes widened.
"You…" Peter was shocked to see his man. He knew who he was. Don walked into his office nonchalantly, and went straight to the bar cart, and helped himself with a glass of scotch. He casually sat down on Peter's couch, put his feet up on the coffee table, as if it was his own office and Peter was the guest.
"Yea, Me. Long time no see, governor." He said the word governor sarcastically, like he was mocking Peter.
"What do you want?" Peter asked.
"You know what I want. How are you in the past 10 years? Your wife and your daughter and son are doing great? How old are they now? I saw your lovely wife on TV the other day, how sweet."
Peter answered none of those questions. He was sweating and shaking, as if he just saw a ghost. He breathed heavily. "You can't scare me. I won't give you what you want. That's enough. I am the governor now, and I have body guards."
Don laughed. "Well, your choice. Don't say I didn't warn you."
He is bluffing, he must be. Peter thought.
Will and Alicia hadn't talked to each other for the next few days. But they both looked at their phones every 2 minutes, resisting to pick it up.
*Will's phone rang* He jumped up from his chair, startled. He ran to his phone to pick it up.
"Hello?" He said nervously.
"Mr. Will Gardner, my name is Cindy and I am calling from CIT Bank. We are offering a new promotion, if you apply for our credit card in this month….."
"I am not interested, thank you." Will didn't even let her finished her sentence. He threw his phone onto the couch, disappointed.
I told her I need space, Will Gardner. I am so stupid… He shook his head. This is our first fight as lovers.
He couldn't concentrate on his work at all. He was reading the same page of his brief over and over again, still had no idea what it is about. He gave up, and he sat down on his couch and shut his eyes for a second.
*Phone rang*
He saw it on the caller ID this time, it was calling from Alicia's home phone. He couldn't pick it up faster.
"Hello?" The anticipation was killing him. She finally called me.
But the voice on the side of the call wasn't Alicia's.
"Hello? Will? This is Grace."
"Grace? Is everything okay?" His heart was about to jump out of his body. Did something happen to Alicia? Is Grace calling to tell him something bad happened?
"Yes everything is okay. Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. Are you busy?" Will was relief.
"It's okay, and no I am not busy. How are you? How can I help you?"
"Nothing serious. Just that.. um.." she said shyly. "What is it?" Will asked.
"My mom's birthday is in two weeks. I wonder if you have thought of what gift to give her? I want to surprise her. This is the first time you can celebrate with all of us, we should make it special."
Will lost his word for a second. "Oh… um… no I haven't thought of anything yet." Her birthday is in two weeks, what am I going to do?
"I was thinking… maybe we can go shopping together to pick something for her?" Grace asked.
"Oh… that's a good idea."
Alicia was right. She introduced him to her children, the two kids that mean the world to her. She wouldn't do that unless she planned to welcome him into her family, her life, her heart.
What am I doing? He missed her so much, and he couldn't deny it any longer. Even her daughter had accepted him, and starting to warm up to him. Why am I still shutting her out?
Will suddenly felt a heavy sense of guilt. "Maybe I can pick you up from school tomorrow, and go to the mall together? 3pm?"
"Yes that would be great. But remember, don't let mom know, okay? It's a surprise."
"Of course. I won't tell her."
"Good, then see you tomorrow. Thank you!"
"No problem. See you tomorrow, Grace."
