HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let's survive together another year! Yeay! w
So, this is the first fic (in this case, chapter) for this year uwu Honestly I absolutely wanted to start the year with something fluffy, because most of my next fics are going to be angsty QwQ sorry. I think it's a bit incongruous, and there's something bugging me, but overall I think it's okay? At first it was just an idea for the GiyuShino week icebreaker, but then I decided to make a drabble out of it uwu I'm also currently losing my mind because I have an assignment for Monday and I'm not close to finish it any time soon nwn So I needed to write something uwu Ehem uwu
I hope you'll enjoy it nwn

First day of a new year
.
. . .
She squirms, she stretches, and finally groggily opens her eyes. Her eyelids are still heavy, she's tempted to close them again to keep sleeping, but the sight she's greeted with makes her reconsider.
He's smiling. It's small, almost shy, and yet so bright, so loving.
"Hello, Shinobu," he greets her and gently kisses her temple. She kisses back his cheek.
"Hello, Giyū-san," she greets back and yawns loudly, making him chuckle. "I'm still tired…"
Well, they did stay up to see the first dawn of the year after all. Even though they couldn't go to the shrine nor reunite with their families this year, they still had a good New Year's evening. They are together; it always makes everything better.
Outside, it's cold. The sky is packed with thick white clouds, giving their bedroom a dim-lit atmosphere, so lazy, almost lethargic. The first day of the new year is almost already ending, yet they don't feel it, it doesn't feel like it. It's so slow, so sluggish. There is no reason to wake up.
He holds her closer, tucks her a little better under the covers and finally closes his eyes. He's still smiling.
"Then let's just sleep."
He doesn't need to say it twice; when he notices she's already fast asleep again. It's cosy and soft in this little nest of theirs, and it doesn't take long for him to bask in its warmth with her.
When they wake up a couple of hours later, it's only to move to the couch with a blanket to watch movies. Their early dinner consists of leftovers from the previous night. It's simple and still so satisfying, making them feel endlessly happy.
The first day of the year is gone, yet it doesn't feel like it. And it doesn't matter. The world can choose to speed up, it wouldn't matter. As long as they are together, it wouldn't matter.
The world will always stop when they are together.
