Scarecrow: here is one of hopefully many one shots for Vigil. I shipped him with Nokk in this series, as I can work on them helping each other become more social and lively. Hope you enjoy!
-Nokk POV-
"Nope"
"Come on"
"Chul, it's not gonna happen" I said, crossing my arms over my chest. "I like dressing dark."
"So do I. But you can't wear the same thing every day" Chul stated.
"Try me" I shoot back. Usually is someone tried to get me to do something that I don't want to do, it's game over for them. However, Chul and I began dating a few days ago on Halloween. Plus, besides my family, he's the only one who's actually seen my face, so I feel like that was good enough, but I guess not. I know he means well and all, but I just can't see myself in any other color other than black. What can I say? I only work in black….and sometimes, very very dark grey...or dark olive. Basically, anything very dark goes.
"Okay, okay, you can stay dark" Chul promises, smiling sweetly. I shrugged.
"Hey, I work in the shadows. When was the last time you saw a ninja in bright neon colors?" I ask. Chul thought for a moment before replying.
"Never" he stated. I nodded.
"Exactly." I smiled.
"Never, because I've never seen a ninja IRL" he countered. I knit my eyebrows, opening my mouth to say something, but nothing came out. I had to agree with him on that one.
"Okay, fair point" I nod, hopping off my bed, grabbing my dorm key. "Let's go" I say. Chul nods, and follows me out. I lead us outside, beyond HQ, and into town. As closed off as I am, I enjoy brisk walks through the town, and I'm glad I have someone who shares that liking now.
"Pretty soon, we'll need heavy-ass jackets if we want to keep this up" Chul points out. I chuckle.
"True" I say, nodding, pulling my beanie further down my forehead. When in public, even if people see my face, they won't know my identity, so I feel safe in just a hat, so long as I can pull it down to cover my face if need be. Today, I'm just trying not to freeze to death. I bring us into my favorite coffee place I always go to on my walks, and step in. Instantly, we're greeted by the baristas, which are local college students.
"The usual?" one of them, Ciara, smiled. I nodded.
"Yes, please." I stepped out of the way so that Chul can order. Once he did, we waited by the counter for our drinks.
"They know who you are?" Chul asked.
"They don't exactly know what I look like. I mentioned I like to hide my face a lot, and they're pretty respectful of that. They don't know my name, so they've just been calling me Sin Cara." Chul laughed at my given nickname.
"You know, that may be a good name to implement back at HQ. Ya know, for like a non-professional standard?" he mentioned. I pondered his point.
"Maybe. I've gotten very used to just being called Nokk, to be honest." I sigh.
"Well, change can be good, even if it's a pretty major one." he mentioned as our drinks came out. "Besides, for those WWE fans at HQ-"
"Every. Single. Russian" I said flatly, with a hint of sarcasm"
"-they'll know the meaning behind the name" he said. I looked at him, puzzled.
"What meaning?" I asked. Chul laughed.
"Sin Cara translates to 'Without Face'" he told me. I looked at him, wide-eyed for a moment, before speaking.
"Yes, that is a good name, but it fits you better, my Vigil" I smiled, kissing his cheek softly as we make our way back to HQ in the crisp fall weather.
