Everyone was in a panic.

This was the first time that they had seen Thomas react this way. Even Aunt Sarah, who had brought the poor boy all this way, seemingly had no idea what had caused this or how to calm him down. Jim was not currently home, he had gone out temporarily to see a few friends. That left the extremely distressed Thomas in the hands of Aunt Sarah and Darling.

Lady and Tramp insisted that everyone stay downstairs and let the humans sort out all the drama. The screaming had been loud enough to wake the napping Tramp, under normal circumstances, a nap meant sleep til' next afternoon to him, especially after his playfulness earlier. Now, however, he was wide awake and as confused as everyone else.

Everyone had been sitting in the living downstairs, listening to the commotion upstairs, when a brown haze of fur sprinted into the room, past all of them and up the stairs.

"Danielle! What are you doing!?", her mother yelled, while she was climbing the stairs.

As rude as it was of her, Danielle had no time to answer her mother and continued to follow the source of her friend's screams. Finally she came to the room where everything was unfolding. Darling was attempting to calm Thomas down, while Aunt Sarah stood at the door frame, contemplating calling the boy's parents.

As soon as she saw Danielle, she tried shooing her away in annoyance.

"Shoo! Shoo! You wretched dog, what are doing off the chain?", she was pointing one of her bony fingers at the dog. Danielle had no time for her hatred of dogs and ran under her feet. She was almost cut off by Darling who had tried to block her path. Danielle was too quick for the woman.

Her friend was lying on the floor, kicking wildly. She stopped for a second, fearfully unsure of what to do. She went with her instincts and chose to simply close her eyes and take a leap of faith into her friends arms. When her eyes opened she saw a face full of tears and a snotty nose. He was settling down. She breathed a sigh of relief.

"Oh Thomas, hea...", Aunt Sarah was on the verge of disturbing the quiet peace in the room, before Darling put a hand on her shoulder and ushered her out. She then also left, closing the door behind her.

The two of them were all alone now.

The boy made a small grunt and held her closer. The dog whined a happy whine in response. Soon they were both out cold.

Gentle hands woke her the next morning. She was being carefully lifted up. At first Danielle was not alarmed, but as soon as she opened her eyes and realised that she was being taken away from Thomas she started to squirm in the hands. "It must be Aunt Sarah", was her first thought. But that thought faded away when she considered how gentle the hands were, when she sniffed she recognized Darling's scent.

She was taken from the room and brought quietly to the spare room where her family slept. Her parents were together, fast asleep. Annette and Killian made themselves comfortable on Angel's old bed. Scamp and Angel were huddled together on his bed. That left Collette all alone. That was, until Darling placed Danielle next to her.

Then the woman left the room all without making a sound. Danielle figured that now would be the perfect time to make up to her sister, but at the same time did not wish to wake her. While trying to decide, her sister began to stir beside her.

"Psssttt...Collette", she whispered intently.

Collette could only mumble a few things in response, "Mhm, was-you doing?"

"Wake up!", she whispered louder this time.

Rather grumpily, Collette sat up and gave a wide yawn, before looking at her sister, "Looks like you're finally off the chain."

Danielle shuffled her paws awkwardly, "Look, Collette, about what happened the other day..."

"Don't say sorry", she cut her sister off quickly, "Mom explained why you got so mad."

Danielle raised an eyebrow curiously, "She did?"

"Yup, she told me that you saw in that boy, the same thing that she saw in Jim and Darling", she explained patiently.

"And you're not mad at me?", Danielle asked.

Collette answered with a small giggle, "Please. I could never be mad at you."

Danielle sighed in relief, "So we're okay then?"

With a smile, Collette lied back down and said, "Of course we are, now go to sleep it's early."

And with that Danielle curled up next to her identical sister and embraced the warmth that she had missed out on the past two days.
