TRIVIA: Why does Troy say he likes the idea? (clue: It's an actor related trivia, not character) Correct answer gets a chapter of the next story!
?-?
"While we're on the subject of big news," Carla started soon after the group started eating, and slightly settled down. "Bob and I decided where to have our wedding."
"Oh? Where?" Sue asked.
"Arizona." She replied. When she saw all of the slightly shocked faces, she decided to explain. "Bob has a house down there, and we decided to let you two have some space, and after our wedding, I'd move down there with him. We might as well just get married there." She said, looking directly at her daughter.
Bob waved so everyone would know he was going to speak. "I have a friend that owns an estate down there, and he's agreed for us to have it there."
"That's great! I'm happy for you." Sue said, a bit shocked by the news. "It will give us a bit of a road trip."
"Yeah, I remember the last time I took a road trip to Arizona." Myles mumbled. He received several glares back.
"I like the idea. Warm sunshine, and a road trip as well! Am I invited?" Troy asked, and Mya interpreted for everyone.
Sue smiled and nodded. "OF COURSE."
Carla smiled, satisfied that her news went well.
"See? There was nothing to worry about." Bob quietly said as the older couple watched everyone chat, argue, and laugh together about anything and everything.
"There's always something to worry about." She replied.
"But you don't have to worry about this."
She smiled at him. "No, apparently I don't." She looked back at her extended family that was sitting at the table. Sure, they were Sue's friends, but she enjoyed getting to know them better, and felt like they were true family. "I'm going to miss this."
"Me too." Bob replied. "Which only means we'll have to visit often!"
"I'd like that." She replied, widely smiling at him. "I'd like that a lot."
?-?
"Sue?" Carla called as Sue walked up the stairs later that evening, Sunny tailing behind, nosing Sue that someone called her name.
Sue looked around, and found her Mom looking at her. "Did you want something?"
Carla nodded. "Yes. I wanted to make sure you were OK with me moving to Arizona with Bob."
Sue widely smiled. "I'm more than fine! I didn't want to leave you alone in Ohio for two reasons; I myself was afraid to come back here, and I didn't want to leave you by yourself, without Dad. We now have two amazing men we're marrying, it's time for us to spread our wings, don't you think?"
Carla smiled widely as she nodded, agreeing with her daughter. "I'm glad."
"I'm glad too! Goodnight, Mom."
"Goodnight, sweetheart." Carla said as she watched her daughter walk up the stairs.
?-? LISTEN TO: Hundred More Years By Francesca Battistelli
Early the next morning, Cathi sleepily walked to her front door. "Who's ringing my doorbell at this time of morning?" She grumbled. She had a look of surprise when she opened the door.
"I just wanted to thank you for convincing me to talk to my parents last week." Myles said, handing her a large bouquet of roses. " I called them again last night. We had a good conversation, a real one, not superficial. That's something we hadn't had in a very long time. Thank you."
Speechless, she took the flowers he handed to her. "I, I don't know what to say."
"Your welcome?" He suggested.
She smiled at him. "You're welcome."
The couple widely smiled at each other.
?-?
"Last night was a surprise." Jack said. It was after church, and the couple was sitting on the couch, processing what had happened the night before.
"Yes, but it was a good surprise. I'm happy for them. They can start fresh in Arizona, not have anything binding them. I mean, I'll miss seeing her every day, but I'll surely not miss her dictating my every move!"
Jack chuckled in response. "Yeah, I'll miss Uncle Bob. I've gotten to know him better in these past few months, then my entire childhood."
"They'll still visit! It's not like they're going to disappear forever. If you think my Mom's going to do that, you have another thing coming!"
The couple laughed. "No, you're right." Jack replied. "It'll just be different, you know?"
"Everything's going to be different in 5 months."
He smiled at her. "Yes, it will. But it will be a good different."
She nodded. "And I can't wait."
"ME-TOO." He signed. "Now, what do you want to do today?"
She looked up in thought. "How about we set up that office? I'd love to get that picture up!"
"PERFECT."
The couple smiled at each other, then got to work.
"This is perfect." Sue said later that day, when they finished.
Jack smiled at her. "Yes, it is."
She looked at him, seeing him stare at her. "What?
He slightly shook his head. "I love this, I love you."
She smiled at him. "I love this and I love you too."
He pulled her closer. "Happy New Year."
"HAPPY NEW YEAR." She signed back.
They both smiled, then they kissed. It was a perfect New Years.
