CHAPTER 9: THE SPELL BROKEN.

(POV: Mysterious Narrator.)

As Billster and Timothy threw grenades to make a clear path to their allies, Thomas and Lady were still clashing swords. With every clash she made with Thomas and Excalibur, Lady started to become more and more hesitant. The magicborn became so hesitant, that Thomas was able parry her rapier out of her hand. Seeing that her niece was about ready to be defeated, Lux-Tenebris got ready to end things with Lux-Aurea. However, before the dark goddess could, a bolt of black lightning struck her.

"OW! Strea! Watch where you strike!"

"Sorry aunty!" Strea replied, as she then gave a wink to Proteus.

Seeing what just transpired, Thomas decided to take advantage of the situation and free Lady of the spell. As he sheathed his sword, Lady looked on at Thomas, and scowled as she sent magic projectiles at him.

"STAY BACK!!" She growled. "NO MORE! LEAVE ME ALONE!"

"No.." Thomas replied firmly as the projectiles grazed his face. "You need me, Lady. I'm going to save you, and help you."

Lady's scowl only got bigger, as Thomas stepped closer and closer.

(POV: Thomas.)

"I DON'T NEED ANY HELP!"Lady cried as she sent more projectiles at me. "JUST, LEAVE ME BE! WE'RE ENEMIES"

Just like the first time, the projectiles missed, however, they were very much off course and did not graze me like the previous ones had. Seeing this I knew that I was reaching her.

"W-what? w-why... why can't I kill you?" She asked as she then began to cower as I stepped before her. "What are you? Who are you? Everything is black to me!"

I let out a sigh as I then kneeled down to her level. THIS was it, the moment I needed.

"I'm someone who is precious to you." I replied as I brought Lady into an embrace. "You can't kill me, for I'm very dear to you as you are to me."

Lady just looked at me with widened eyes as I reached for the hand that had her ring on it.

"See this here? This ring is more than just a simple piece of jewelry. It has been linked to your soul essence so I can keep an eye on your life. If it dims, it means that your life force is fading away."

"I-I see." Lady replied as a smile began to crack across her lips. "D-do y-you have one?"

I smiled as I then showed her mine, as the glow of blue shone brightly upon it, Lady could only stare at it. She stared at it for a few seconds, and then, she asked a few more questions

"Do these rings have a special meaning? Do they have anything to do with what I am to you?"

"Yes." I replied. "These rings are the symbol of the devotion and love that you and I have for one another as well as our marriage. You're the person whom I love most, Lady and I will say that we've been through quite a lot to even break the barriers that separated us."

As I then gave Lady a full on the mouth kiss to prove my point to her, I felt the darkness that was set upon her lift up and off of her. As I then looked at her, Lady's hair was once again the same shade of gold that I knew. Looking at me, Lady began to sob, as she embraced me.

"T-Thomas! I.. I... I..."

"It's okay, my love." I replied. "Please don't blame yourself, okay?"

Lady gave me a nod as I then wiped away her tears. Though it was exhausting and hard, my efforts were not in vain. Lady was back to her senses, and that was what mattered.
